how many of you been into 737 simulator
I was in a 737-700 NG Sim last Saturday, at Archerfield, ...just a short flight from YBSU to YBBN.It wasn't a full motion simulator like a Level D, just fixed,.. but the graphics are quite good as they use FTX for scenery as well as Orbx YBBN for example with much better frame rates than I get on my PC.My point is, I noticed just as you did, that the height above Ground is much higher than NGX on my PC.So much so , when flaring for the landing I thought I was still floating after touching down! But the height looking outside from the cockpit window seemed correct realistic like the Real 737.It seems to me that the FSX & NGX set up doesn,t seem natural or positioned bit too low.It may have a bit do do with sitting in a real replica 737 so you get a proper 3 dimensational perpective or some thing?Regards,Stewart Thompson

yoke for the pmdg
That's an interesting Mod Dave, might look in to it myself, ..& I do have a CH yoke & pedals & fairly happy with it,but my real gripe is that FSX Control,s is way too senseitive!Iv'e got the FSX Control Axis Slider's almost all the way back as low as they can go ,but the NGX response is a too responsive for the degree of Control Input. It might be alright for some of their default Cessna's, Mustang'd etc but not for an Airliner.I've been up on the various Flight Decks of TAA's 727's Ansett 727, 737, VIRGIN Blue 737NG etc.. (Before Sept 11) during the landing & watch the Pilot, & he really moves the Control's especially aileron, around quite a bit with the aircraftonly turning & changing flight path small amount. It seems a bit unrealisitic to me.Stewart T

Most Dangerous NGX Approaches and Departures
For Departures,... Try RWY 15 Swift 7 (YBCS). CairnsIt requires an earliest left turn near 400ft or at DER.LFMN Rwy 04 Both (Nice) has a similar initial SID.If you have the ORBX Scenery for Cairns , it,s quite good & not to heavy on frame rates ( If you have fairly good system)SID can be obtained at the Air servicesAustralia web site under DAP (Departure Approach Procedures.)Regards,Stewart Thompson

Ground Wing Flex
I think PMDG have modelled it fairly realistically, ...comparing it to real A/CChristian's video shows the typical wing flexing.Stewart Thompson

REX
The're good shots Stephen,I have REX2, but haven,t installed it yet, ...too busy other things!I actually posted a topic the other day about wind smoothing ( if REX does that) ...but a few people confirmed to use at least to use FSUIPC.I will certainly now install REX2 for great weather effects. You have FTX Aust,.. like I have & it seems you obviously don/t have any clashing issues as well.Stewart Thompson

Program for Wind Smoothing?
Thanks for your informative replies.I think now I will install REX & get FSUIPC (registrated) .Probably also get ASE a bit later.Again, thanks for the info it's basicially what I needed to clear up.Stewart Thompson

Program for Wind Smoothing?
Hi All,I have purchased REX but haven't installed it yet.Does anyone know if REX has a 'Wind Smoothing' facility. If not, should I get FSUIPC4 (I think) .. for FSX as well as REX.Also does Active Sky have Wind Smoothing, ...Is Active Sky better to use?Maybe FSUIPC & REX would be the cheaper & more efficient option, don't really know. These Wind Shifts in FSX after downloadind real upper winds WX is dissapointing at times & really throws my NGX around as it tries to correct.Hope some one might have some thoughtful recomendationsThanks.Regards,Stewart T.

What do YOU want to see in SP2?
I would like to have the FMC Alert Message Tone that was modelled in the previous PMDG NG.Very handy if you get for eg: 'Drag Required' message that you need to act fairly quickly,in case you missed the FMC light one, on the main panel.Regards,Stewart

FSX Lockup @ FTX Cairns NGX Sp1 737-700
Ron,I had the same problem as you couple of months ago, & I think one of the airports was Cairns & the Panel frooze several times. At any rate the procedure file wasn't quite correct as per Airservices Australia DAP,so I have reinstalled the Australian portion of Navigraph procedure files & things are back to normal, no problems. The main reason I thought I would try it was Austscene included RNAV approaches to Queenstown NZRegards,Stewart Thompson

Call outs 737NGX
OK Thanks David, That's just what I want to know Stewart.

Call outs 737NGX
Armen, Just out of interest, there is a particular Warning tone which I heard on some R/L videos, one was a Cathy Pacific 747 ...the alarm came when he disconnected the Auto Throttle, I've also heard it of a earlier 737 video late on the approach I think.'I discovered after reserching over another matter, that this Warning tone is included in the original PMDG 737 for FS9. It is called 'PMDG Caution' (a wav file)But it is not I noticed, used unless you have to select it from the PMDG Task menu as an option or something? I was wondering if it could be included in the SP1 update, ..or is it a case that Boeing don't use this for the NG.Regards, Stewart Thompson

Throttles Retard @ 80Kts during TO roll
Peter, I had this problem too, ..I have a CH Control Column. The problem I think is when your'e speed hits 80 kts, it goes into THROTTLE HOLD Mode. which alows you to take over the power levers.Since you have only advanced yours throttles to only approx 40% NI, it senses you have retarded your throttles back to nearly idle so the power is brought back.I now simply advance my throttles to the computed NI for your take off after you've pushed TO/GA & take off proceeds normaly.I think that is your problem ...hope it helps.Regards, Stewart Thompson

Possible throttle issue with HF4?
Yes Ryan,... I noticed during take off my engines suddenly throttled back to Idle.I seems that without me advancing my CH throttle position in line with the increasing N1, the period during THOTTLE HOLD it sensed that my throttles were in the last position which was approx 40% N1, so retarded Take off Power. So now I advance my throttles in sync with that excellent feature 'Show Thrust Lever Pos' to the calculated N1 & no more problems! Comparisons to RL
An excellent write up Simon, & taking the time to produce it. Found it very educational! It's not often you get an in depth info on R/W operations on forums. (A thank you to Scott for compileing the PDF) Stewart Thompson.
