  1. Thanks for your suggestion. Nothing is helping. Tried lowering the bufferpools. [edit] I did realize that it only happens in heavily forrested areas only and lowering the autogen setting helps.
  2. Nothing has been added/deleted. But thanks. Will try increasing it.
  3. All of a sudden I am getting bad scenery spikes and artifacting all over. What could cause it? I reduced my buffer pools to 48000000 .(edit) my temps seem to be okay and there isn't any overheating.OS Win 7 64 biti920 OC to 3.8ghz6 gb RamNvidia GTX275
  4. I wanna know how he got the ground effect on the A380 landing. I can never arrest the landing in FSX.
  5. Acceleration is an expansion pack that includes new missions, new aircraft and new scenery and the price is very very reasonable. Since the pack includes SP2, it helps frame rates if you have not installed the service pack. FSX with SP2 utilizes the 4 cores in a quad core to load scenery files which help with stutters but not frame rates. Frank
  6. LOL Yes. Specially at taxi speeds.
  7. Supposed to be blowing snow from tires.
  8. 1) I am not sure you can pan in 2D. Thats a whole point of 3D cockpit anyway; to pan around.2) For long time I thought that the giant balls of light mascarading as landing lights were anomoly with my video driver. But now I know them to be a universal problem with no fix. There are 4 things I wish it could be fixed in FS are:1)Fix landing light problem2)Bring Alpha fade back so we don't have poping Autogen3)Fix the snow Javeline.4)Percipitation on windsheild effect in 3D cockpit.
  9. Thanks..clear enough. Speaking of Back up; What folders of FSX do you back up if you have installed UTX, GEX and REX? What do people back up anyway? Also would a descent size flash drive be enough for FSX related back up?
  10. Okay, I have to ask, what do you mean when you say defraging "online" vs "offline"?
  11. Show me the sim around a Major city with lots of buildings, then I may have the same opinion.
  12. I don't agree that 920 is a far cry from a 975. Actually I have never understood why people got i7 975. 975 is easier to overclock, but it doesn't have nearly as much overclocking head room as a i7 920. When you overclock the 920 to 4 ghz as I have, there isn't much performance benefit to 975 which can not be overclocked much more than that. One last thing, stutter free 20 fps is better than stuttering 25. Stutter is a different beast than plain FPS.
  13. Do you know what the number one visited museum in the entire planet is? Not Louvre, Not submarine museum nor scuba diving museum! It is National Air and Space Museum. Perhaps they are looking for a world simulator and that is a different story. Then they can have train, plane and submarine simulator as add ons.
  14. As more time passes by, the more issues are resolved and recorded, so there is less need for postings on forums. Doesn't mean the hobby is dead.
  15. While it was released at this time 3 years ago, it was in January of 06 that it was presented to the world (in pictures etc). That is close to 4 years and there is no news of any FS in sight. Amazing stats that after 6 years FS9 is used by more people. It sure doesn't help with creation of FSnext. I personally could not go back to FS9. I wonder what effect does the US consumers diminishing purchase power has on the stats. I am talking about purchase of new hardware that allows FSX to run acceptably.
  16. While all i7 chips are a little more complicated to over clock they are still relatively easy. I have a 920 C0 stepping that I have over clocked easily to 3.8 ghz. (It was my first built computer :( ) I would go higher but my room has been really hot (rarely less than 83C in summer and early fall). DO stepping should be more over clock-able than my chip. But there are two factors to consider:1)A good air cooler is needed. Stock cooler that comes with i920 is not good. I don't have the best air cooler (Zalman 9900LED) but its much better than what came with the CPU.2)Choice of mother board is also good for stable (and ease of) over clocking.Frank
  17. The larger the monitor the lower your frames will be. However you need to decided what to sacrifice.. I have a similar system to yours (with 6gb ram though) except I am running mine on 24 inch monitor (1900*1200). I still can not fully put my sliders up and get acceptable frames. However, having a big monitor for me was worth the sacrifice of say having less road traffic. So I have less cars on the road, my cloud distance draw is not as high and I have light bloom turned off. But FSX still looks damn good on a large crisp 24 inch monitor. I am happy. BTW go with TRUE instead of V8. Its a better cooler.
  18. Thank you Nick,Does the GEX US help US problem areas? That is where I mainly fly. Also what I don't understand is why one doesn't get just plain low FPS instead of fluctuations in FPS when flying in these areas?
  19. There were areas in which I would get massive stutters which I found out were caused by trees. This happened even in areas that were not dense in Autogen at all. Nothing including bufferpools helped. For example, I could never fly the soaring missions in fsx; they were in areas that the trees caused unflyable stutters. According to Nick there were type of autogen trees that caused it and that there he had a fix comming in which it replaced the said autogen trees. So I avoided those areas and have waited for the fix. Now that Fall is here and the autogen trees are different, I am having problems with stutters in many areas that I don't want to avoid. (unless I fly in summer all the time) So nick or anyone else; has anyone found a solution to this?
  20. what is LOD radius anyway?
  21. Thanks Bert,.I got it and already am impressed. Do you know where I can get information on the power setting? Its not in the checklist/references. I am not that familiar with constant speed power systems anyway. What are the cruise settings for example? Is throttle always reduced first and increased last? Aren't there different power settings for climb, climb cruise and cruise? Where do I get the information from?
  22. Hi Bert, I feel a similarity in the reviewers name and yours>-. Any relations :( ? Wonder why its not in Avsim store!Anybody has reviewed the just flight flying club? Has a warrior in it.
  23. DF seems to be so inactive now, or I'd get their dakota which doesn't work on 64bit vista
  24. I am looking for an Archer, warrior, Arrow or Dakota for FSX with vista 64bit on my system. I prefer one that has a built in GPS: What do people thing of the followings and is there any other one to consider?Carenado ArrowAustralisan Simulation Warrior Just Flight flying club which has the warrior in it.(DF Dakota does not work on vista 64)ThanksFrank
