  1. The NGX is a new aircraft from the ground up. The 747X was more or less a port to FSX with a few tweaks. Additionally, IIRC, the MD11 was around the same price that the NGX is now.
  2. My guess is that PMDG is projecting that the -800 and -900 will be much more popular than the -6/-7. That being said, it would make sense to charge $80 for the -8 and the -9 rather than charging, say, $105 for all four models combined while making many customers pay for models they'll never use. They're giving us options to cut down on cost and in my opinion, it's much appreciated. I have almost no interest in the -600 and the -700 so I won't be purchasing those two models, and now because of PMDG's pricing structure, I won't have to! :( How many airlines IRL actually operate the -600 anyway? 5? IIRC, there has only been a hundred sum odd of them built.-jr
  3. I was wondering the same thing. I don't want the 6700 package, but I would like the -ER package. I hope I don't need the 6700 in order to purchase the -ER.-jr
  4. PMDG is damned if they do and damned if they don't. Would you be cool with waiting for a few more months so that PMDG could release all of the variants together? At any rate, PMDG is releasing a Southwest livery for the -800 so you have nothing to be upset about.-johnny rodgers
  5. Indeed. I seem to remember Robert or someone else from PMDG stating that the time they spent on the FS9 MD11 relative to the number of sales was a huge disappointment. Most users have migrated to FSX. If I can have an enjoyable experience with my six year old, antiquated computer in FSX, everyone else should be able to, too. But I'm not trying to turn this into yet another FS9-FSX p***ing match. Carry on. If your competing product was virtually rendered obsolete overnight, you'd probably be a bit buggered too. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.-jr
  6. Two questions.#1. Say I buy the base package but forgo the 6700 package, and then I want to buy the ER package. I assume I'd only have the -800ER and -900ER and not the other two, correct? (I don't think a 600ER even exists....)#2. Will liveries be available for all models? For example, would an -800 Southwest livery will be available even though WN doesn't actually fly the -800(yet...)? - Nevermind, I read the livery threadThat would be beneficial for those who don't want the 6700 package, but still want liveries of airlines that only fly the -600 or -700.-johnny rodgers
  7. Download - because I'm perfectly capable of taking the twenty seconds it entails to burn a backup CD.-johnny rodgers
  8. I'd like to see something Airbus but since I doubt that will happen, I'd settle for a 777 or the 757.
  9. I'm flossing an archaic Athlon 3500 with a 7800GTX and I can still play FSX reasonably well. Sure, my sliders aren't maxed out and I'm not running a dozen add-ons at the same time, but I find that the 747X and the MD11 run reasonably well on my computer. In my experience, every PMDG product has had better performance than the ones that preceded it, so I expect the NGX to perform at least as well as the MD11.-jr
  10. Roger that.I've been thanking PMDG now for 10 sum odd years. The fact that that the only other add-on airplane I have that isn't PMDG is the LVD 763 should speak volumes.-johnny rodgers
  11. I made a similar comment and I'm 27. There's really no need to crap all over this thread.-johnny rodgers
  12. US Airways does fly the 757, they just don't have as many of them as AA or DL do.Not only was the introduction of the 777 a death knell for the MD11, but the MD11 also drastically under delivered in performance when it was first introduced. This eventually led to lackluster sales for the MD11, and then the introduction of the T7 in the mid '90s was the final nail in the coffin. This was a huge issue for both AA and DL who both wanted the aircraft to specifically fly to NRT from DFW and ATL. With the under performing aircraft, pre PIP, flying this route wasn't economically feasible for either airline. Not surprisingly, AA kept the MD11 barely a decade and DL didn't keep them much longer than that, both swapping them out for T7s. Not quite. AFAIK, EWR-TXL is the longest currently operated 757 route in the world, and that's 3500nm and is at the very edge of the 757's usable range.-johnny rodgers
  13. Dude, don't leave. You're one of the few non-adolescents here that actually contributes meaningful input.Ironically, I'd bet money that the same people that are leaving you nasty PMs are the same self righteous, sanctimonious kiddos around here that take it upon themselves to "police" the forums.
  14. KLAX-PHNL is only a five hour flight, and less than that eastbound. At any one point in the route, you're within 180 minutes of LAX or HNL(or both).-johnny rodgers
  15. Indeed. It's a bit of an oversensational title for a handful of over produced screenshots.
  16. No kidding, and that was the point I was trying to get across. You're not accomplishing anything by playing keyboard warrior, calling people out, chastizing people, etc. You're making the situation worse by perpetuating it and drawing attention to it. Funny you mention that. I tend to doubt many of the people here creating the drama are old enough to drink. :( -jr
  17. I'm just wondering who empowered you to police others' posts around here?I don't know which is worse, the complainers or the self appointed, junior deputy moderators who feel the need to tell everyone what to do and what they can post. I'm fairly weary of both.-johnny rodgers
  18. Thanks, dad. :( You might want to learn some elementary internet etiquette while you're at it. The big, bold letters are completely unnecessary.-johnny rodgers
  19. I was wondering the same thing. What's so difficult about downloading it and then burning the file to a CD?-johnny rodgers
  20. I took that to be #1. They will announce the release date some time in the next couple of days.-jr
  21. I would think the opportunity cost involved here for PMDG would make the cost of such a venture unfeasible for nearly, if not all of everyone here. You would essentially be compensating PMDG for revenue that they would be making if they weren't working on a one off project for one person and I have a feeling that would be a substantial sum of money.-johnny rodgers
  22. His post doesn't seem the slightest bit negative to me, it's just realistic. The fact of the matter is, is that I'm not aware of any evidence to suggest that we're getting any other models upon release other than the -800. PMDG has yet to state anything publicly in that regard and I don't *think* we've seen any screen shots of anything other than the -800. This whole discussion seems like a non-starter to me.I'll be flying either an AA 738 or a QF 738. My first flight will probably be KBFI-KSTL. (Although an island hopping exercise, KBFI-YSSY, would be a lot of fun if I had the time)-johnny rodgers
  23. I believe PMDG considers it to be a "lite" model. It's not quite up to the level of detail of the MD11 or the 744. The price reflects that too.-johnny rodgers
  24. Two wrongs don't make a right here. I'm just as tired of reading the complaining about the aircraft as I am the self righteous types who complain about the complainers. Both groups are equally as obnoxious and contribute equal amounts of hostility to the forum.Something, something, those in glass houses, something, something....-johnny rodgers
