  1. Jim,Do you happen to have the link to that article?Alan
  2. I found a solution to my problem as explained in this thread. http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=240645I uninstalled TP and re-installedTP using all the defaults and located the TPcache on the same drive as FSX.Took a test flight from Denver to Aspen and all seems to work fine.Alan
  3. I am brand new to TP and having the same problem. The tiles are loading in the cache but the "number of tiles accessed" stays at zero. I have flown with and without TP running and see no difference in scenery.I followed the Quick Start Tutorial and have RTFM two or three times, but still no joy.I have verified the TP install made the default changes to the FSX.CFG.I set the cache up on a separate drive N:\TPcache. It contains two folders: cache.service3 and TileProxy Photoreal World. Should there be cache.service1 and cache.service4?The system is a i7 920, VISTA 64 and FSX + Acceleration.Seems like the service that moves the tile from the cache to FSX isn't working?Any help would be appreciated.alanThanks,Alan
  4. My experience was a little different. I just went through the telephone activation process without problems yesterday. My Experience: I have just upgraded from a AMD 64 X2 to an i7 920 computer. I wanted to reinstall my original copy of FSX, which had been installed only once on my AMD computer. I had been reading good things about running FSX under Windows 7 and Windows 7 (64 bit) beta is installed on one hard drive of the new computer. I did the first reinstalled FSX under it without problem using the internet activation. After playing with FSX under Win7, I noticed some problems and decided to try it under Vista 64 to see if the problems was related to Windows 7 or FSX. When I tried re-installing FSX on the same computer, but under Vista, the internet activation failed and the telephone activation window popped up. I called the 800 number and after reading the long string of numbers into the automated system, it failed to activate FSX and then it connected me to a "live" support person in India. At first he said I had installed this copy of FSX on too many computers. I explained what I was doing and he had me re-read the long string of digits and then had me enter another long string of digits into the telephone activation screen. I hit enter and FSX activated. Although the process was aggravating, it only took about 15 minutes. However what happens if in another two years when I do the next h/w upgrade and we are still flying FSX?Future of MS FSX Activation: What will be the future support for activating FSX? The current scheme was based on the idea of a new version of FS being out in two to three years. Many of us will be upgrading hardware every 18 to 24 months. Reinstalling all those copies of FSX sold in 2006 in 2010 and beyond will cost MS a lot of dollars (even at the going labor rate in India) for human assisted telephone re-activations of a dead end/obsolete program. I doubt in 2010 and beyond that new sales of FSX will provide enough cash provide the support for the entire FSX installed base. Microsoft should just open up the number of times you can install FSX and let the online activations take care of the activations. Otherwise folks will just resort to using alternate methods of activation.
  5. I am test flying the demo version of VOXATC with FS9. Are the two ATT licensed voice available in the demo? There seem to be only two and they sound very mechanical like Microsoft Bob and Mary.
  6. I am test flying the demo version under FS2004. While in contact with center, I tried requesting to leave the frequency to check weather, which apparently isn't allowed. However, VOXATC kept asking me to state intentions. I tried all possible options off the options menu and never found the reply to exit this endless loop. Finally had to shut VOXATC down.Alan
  7. John,I will try duplicating your flight and compare notes.I did a create flight from scratch so that shouldn't have been the problem. I felt like I wasn't getting full throttle, but it was getting too late so I hope to try again this weekend. I will try doing a calibrate on my throttle and check the sensitivity settings.I see other have posted some tweaks and I will try those as well.Alan
  8. Thats appears to be the MSE version and they are prized by the market. They are the same airframe but have a nicer interior with white panel and yokes. The Carenado Mooney appears to be a 1981 or later model. The first year for navigation lights enclosed in the wing tips was 1981.Here is a 1981 Model similar what Carenado has modeled.http://tappix.com/788584
  9. I am very pleased with the visuals with Carenado Mooney 20J, it is so much better than the default Bravo in MSFS.However I agree with the other comments that the flight model needs work. I flew in a 1981 20J a couple of weeks ago. We were tooling along a 164 knts at 4500' msl with the engine running at 23"/2300 rpm.Tried the same flight last night after installing Carenado's Mooney, but could only get 20" of MP and only 134 knts (TAS). As others have noted the Carenado Mooney slows down too fast compared to the real ones. I kept checking to see if something was dragging. :-hmmm Alan/KJYO

  11. I have a FS2004 "surround system" using multiple computers and monitors running Wideview in the basement. It provides 3 monitors for the front views and two montiors on each side, plus a couple for the instrument panel. However since I bought the TrackIR 4 Pro at the AVSIM convention in August, I haven't flown it that much. With the Track IR, I feel the same sense of immersion and realism as with the other system, but startup is so much easier. It is by far the best Flight Sim accessory, I own. If you spend some time with internet price search engines you should be able to find it online for $140~$150.Alan
