  1. It's just Jack pretty much increasing descent speed to 330 IAS in LVL CHG, blowing past the VNAV PTH by around 1000ft then slowing down air speed to intercept the path nicely. I used to do did this before that video and now I use it fairly often (including my last flight where ATC held me up at FL180) and it works great, thanks Jack.
  2. Couple of us mentioned about speeding up on the last page (including myself), yes it works but I still stick with the 250/10000 restriction personally without issue. I mostly do it above 10000 if my descent has been held up by ATC and it gets me back on path very effectively.
  3. The 777 also has a simpler cockpit from a virtual cockpit modelling standpoint. Which will take more of a hit on performance (NGX) than the extra background algorithms (777), so we may even gain some frames. EDIT just noticed 777fan said pretty much the same thing.
  4. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/344441-do-you-really-need-speedbrakes-video/ Video is dead sadly However this one is still valid http://forum.avsim.net/topic/342462-video-of-managing-drag-during-approach/page__hl__video%20jack
  5. Not sure about the 700 because I haven't bought the expansion but I know the -900 slows easier, and I have heard the 800 is the slipperiest of the NG's.
  6. The speed box is blanked because he is in VNAV, the VNAV constraints are shown in magenta on the PFD. The speed box would only show a number if he used speed INTV.
  7. Yes, it automatically puts the waypoints in, but seeing as LHY45 isn't in your current nav data it will skip LHY45, which is fine as the only way around it would be to find a way to manually add the waypoint to the nav data.
  8. Well you don't have to enter each waypoint of the airway like that you start at ZUUCS and end at HNK and the FMS will add every waypoint in the nav data in the middle that follows that airway. So there is no need to manually enter LHY45 at all.
  9. Also, If your flight plan or planing software is old the waypoint might not exist anymore, or it does but your NGX nav data is old.
  10. Looks like that paticular waypoint is not in the Nav data.
  11. Yep what JQ said, Also Jordan the GPWS doesn't get it's altitude from the baro altimeter but rather it gets it from the radio altimeter so baro settings doesn't change anything
  12. Indeed, United flight 232 is a prime example.
  13. Actually 2016, cause Feb 29th is the release date.
  14. This looks very odd, I think you should submit a support ticket.
  15. Truth is fly by wire is very old tech: http://www.kwiznet.c...les/071kite.jpg But is getting quite sophisticated these days, with swept wings and colourful flaperons and everything http://www.thekitesh..._90504_zoom.jpg
  16. LMAO oh my  I would love to see that footage!
  17. I am pretty sure I predicted 2013.
  18. I have always had bad luck reloading saved flight so I don't bother saving anymore, I am lucky my system has been rock solid stable for a long time now. However if I am in the middle of a flight and I need my PC for something else I just pause and alt-enter to desktop and do what I have to do and come back later. Only real downside is it makes my weather forecast void if I take too long.
  19. You are using your full speed brake right? Also if you want to maximise your descent rate outside of VNAV with a set speed that is what LVL CHG is for, easier than fooling around with V/S
  20. Good to hear it is fixed for you.
  21. Congrats on the new system. The NGX comes with two extensive tutorials (along with all the rest of the documention) which are very very good and highly recommended for new users, also you can search youtube as there is a lot of videos on the NGX and how to fly it.
  22. I have never had a issue starting in the cold and dark state switching on the bat then starting APU, ground power shouldn't be required as long as the batteries have enough charge.
