  1. Just to add a bit more info, AS2012 is injecting weather into P3D just fine, it is just that it gets an error at startup "FSX installation path read error". Are there entries to be made to the config.xml file?
  2. Hi, What is needed to get AS2012 working with P3D? I have read elsewhere that you need to edit the config.xml file. I have tried that but AS2012 still asks for the FSX install directory. Anybody willing to share how it is done :) Ted
  3. I am really warming to v10 and beginning to compile a list of what I will need to move from fs9.I have tried xpushback latest version but it crashes v10 on startup. How does pushback work without an external plugin? I have tried searching the manual but nothing shows up.Any help appreciatedTed
  4. Hi,Well I got ATC working pretty well. I managed to log a flight plan, taxi into position and take off.1. Tune ATIS 118.02. Get clearance 128.03. Request taxi 119.94. Follow the taxi helper line to your holding point5. Cleared takeoff6. Departure 119.2....then lose control b/c 10 mins is up :)
  5. Hi Goran,Thanks for the pages. I did try to search for ATC in the manual but must have missed those pages. I put KSEA to KSBD @ FL10 but still no other options. I can hear ATC giving directions to other aircraft but it is still ignoring me. I also notice that the graphic on the wiki has IFR/VFR selections which don't show in the demo?Any other help appreciated.
  6. ATC is still a mystery to me...I hit enter then Departure = KSEA, Arrival = KPWT. In the other box I put CAN...then?I hit enter ... and it asks for a flight plan ...what the?At the moment X-Plane still feels like a university project for software engineers....I really WANT to like it and make a switch from FS2004 but ATC is really high on my priority list. Can any experienced X-Planers help me out please?
  7. Hi, I have installed VOZ 1.8 which is a scenery add on for Australia. I really love it but the night textures include moving cars on freeways which are too fast, too bright and unrealistic. If I fly outside of Australia the textures are not used. So it may be in the bgls. I have posted in the VOZ forum but I don't think anyone is monitoring them very much. Does anyone know how to replace the moving cars with static textures or edit the bgls? I have "un-VOZed" but they are still there. regardsTed
  8. Hi Steve,I have just heard about your add-on and tried it tonight. I really like it and would like to buy it. One question if you don't mind.I like to use VOXATC as it enhances the realism factor of ATC rather than someone else answering for me. As you know VOXATC controls the AI planes, can IF work with VOXATC and what effect, if any, would it make to how IF controls other AI planes?regardsPaul
  9. Hi,I have a similar setup that works fine. I have a single 9800GTX+ 1GB [email protected] 6GB ram on XP64. On one head of the 9800 is the th2go 3820x1024 and on the other head a 24" 1920x1200. I am running PMDG planes no problems with fairly high graphic settings. The desktop is on the th2go and the 24" is 'extend onto this monitor'. So it is really adding the horizontal widths together.Don't know if that helps :(
  10. Hi,Well I finally gave up on Win 7 and reluctantly went back to XP64. Before I went, though, I tried using a PS2 mouse but sadly it didn't fix the CTD. So the same software and hardware works perfectly on XP64 but not on Win 7. Even if you don't touch the menu, and you want to use a serious sim like the PMDG MD-11 (which uses a lot of clicks on the VC) on Win 7 and you are one of the unlucky ones affected by this bug then you are screwed. :(
  11. I have re-installed FSX again but this time only with SP1 and SP2 .. still crashes. Tried an earlier video driver 182.08 ... nope still does it. The only solution it seems is to NOT USE THE MENU WITH THE MOUSE :(
  12. I spoke too soon ... any use of the menu will crash FSX given enough time :(. So I suppose that eliminates looking for something in the mouse/USB software? If I set the number of AI planes really low (i.e. the number of selectable items in the menu) it will take longer to crash. Does that suggest a stack overflow maybe? Using exactly the same hardware setup but on a different HD XP64 has been very stable and does not suffer any of the menu problems :(
  13. Well I used GlovePie to program the F2 and F3 keys as macros to cycle through all AI planes ... i.e. they were acting as key presses and it was fine. This is at least a work around for me. I use GlovePie to control all the instrument switches with three USB keyboards already, so a few more keys is not an issue.Key.LeftAlt + V + M + Right = Key1.F2Down + Down + Down + Down + Down + Right + Down + Enter = Key1.F3Not very elegant I know but it didn't seem to like putting it all on one key?So it is something quite specific to using the mouse to right click.
  14. Well, two hours later and a fresh install on a new disk. No overclock, disabled DEP and UAC, no antivirus, no nvidia driver, and logged in as admin. Fresh install of FSX ... guest what ... still does it when viewing AI from the right click menu. If I cycle through the AI with the A key no problems. Willing try anything at this stage.
  15. Thanks I'll give it whirl and let you know. It is pretty frustrating though as FSX *seems* to run smoother on WIN 7.
  16. Well I am getting ready to pull the plug on windows 7. I have tried the following:Completely removing all add ons and FSX then reinstalling FSX without any add on or change ... still does it.Tried disabling one by one in the bios: Hyperthread, EIST, C1E ... still getting the fatal error and restart when in the right click menu.Tried removing the nvidia 185.85 driver and letting WIN7 install its own ... still does it.Tried running FSX in compatibility mode XPSP3 ... still does it.Tried only one monitor at 1024x768 ... still does it.Tried turning off or disabling every 3D feature globally in the nvidia panel ... still does it.So where to from here ... probably back to XP64 which has been very stable. If anyone can suggest something else I will try it before using the HD for something else ... X - Plane ;)
  17. Hi,Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that right now and let you know. I am running FSX deluxe with acc.
  18. More...I have tried reducing every setting in the Nvidia control panel globally to either off or disabled... still does it.Tried reducing screen size to 1024 and everything off...still does it.Tried compatibility mode down to XP SP2 still does it.Very reproducible bug...Choose Trike, Friday Harbour any time. Once you are underway right click a few times without selecting anything then run the mouse up and down the menu it will take less than 30sec to crash.
  19. Hi,I am getting CTD as well when using the right click menu. I am using the release candidate x64 7100 on an i7 ex58 Gigabyte MB with ECS 9800 GTX+ 1GB and a matrox triplehead2go with 3x 1280x1024 monitors. I have tried reducing all the sliders to the left, latest driver etc but it still does it. In all other respects it seems to be working much better than XP64.
  20. Hi Luis & Scott,Thank you that worked.I added:LOD = 13CompressionQuality = 85...to the inf file and dragged it onto resampleFSX.exe. From there I copied the BGL and BMP to the FSX Addon scenery folder and made the changes within FSX to account for the scenery. All sweet!I haven't decided 100% to ditch the default scenery yet, but now at least I have a choice :)Thanks again.
  21. Hi,Thanks for your replies. I didn't make myself very clear, sorry. My 1m photoscenery is showing up and working well with good frame rates with SP1 and Vista. My LOD is on 7cm :) When I fly out of this 1m zone I am back to the default FSX scenery. What I want to do is force FSX to use 16m photoscenery rather than its own default. Luis what you are suggesting is spot on. But the question is how do I do it? I have the bmp file and the inf and I am using resampleFSX.exe. The inf of one of the 1m files looks like this:[Destination]DestDir = ..sceneryDestBaseFileName = L1_S-36'58'20_E138'31'35_S-36'54'17_E138'36'32BuildSeasons = 0UseSourceDimensions = 1[source]Type = CustomSourceDir = ..workSourceFile = L1_S-36'58'20_E138'31'35_S-36'54'17_E138'36'32.bmpLon = 138.526611328125 Lat = -35.0277472948707 NumOfCellsPerLine = 7680 NumOfLines = 7680 CellXdimensionDeg = 1.07288360595703E-05CellYdimensionDeg = 8.78193979760948E-06So there isn't anywhere to change the LOD setting? Am I looking in the right place?
  22. Hi,I have created some photoscenery which has the max res of 16m/pixel. While it is considerably lower in res than FSX default, it is nevertheless 'real' showing roads and lakes in the correct place. Is there a way to force FSX to use this lower res BGL rather than its own default scenery which I believe is 8m/pixel?
  23. Hi,I am not sure if this will help much...I have a triplehead2go, Vista Ult, 6400@3ghz 4GB ram, 8800GTS 320MB running at 3840x1024. I am running scenery with max LOD, mesh 100, 7cm res. No water, no autogen. nHancer 4xS, Aniso x16. Traffic is 100%. Weather max detail but not using ActiveSky. I have set the frame lock to 25 which it achieves most of the time except at busy airports when it drops to 15 or so. I am using 1m photo scenery from Ymaps. Using the Bell at 100 knots. So this is a serious graphics load on the PC which is the limiting device.I was getting micro stutters but instead of trying for days to find out what it was...I reinstalled FSX and it disappeared. My guess is that an addon has changed something in the cfg file like TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 (instead of 40) which one of my previous addons did without asking.I think the clue is that it is more noticeable when you turn which is the signal for FSX to start loading in new scenery tiles. In my experience, and from reading lots of threads, having more cores or a faster HD does not help. What really helps is a faster cpu. So...one thing you could try is renaming your FSX cfg temporarily and starting FSX thereby generating a new cfg file. See if that helps. Try turning down the framelock really low to see if the stutters disappear.Anyway those are a few things I would try...
  24. Haldir,Thank you so much for that video. I have NEVER laughed so much in my ENTIRE LIFE. I had to play it again because I had tears in my eyes.Surely there must be more.....PLEASE
