  2. It has been recently published by the the Swedish site sweclockers / geforce gk110 that the name of the new consumer version of the Nvidia GK110 will be the Geforce Titan. According to this article, it will boast amongst others: a 384 bit memory interface 6GB of GDDR5 vram 2688 out of 2880 Cuda cores It will be probably available in late February, but the proposed initial price tag of 899 USD will be hefty.
  3. I bought a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP with 2GB VRAM for my single monitor rig. The 10% enhanced memory bandwith of 211.5 GB/s (vs. 192.2 GB/s of the standard model) won me over.
  4. The Nvidia GeForce driver version 310.90 WHQL, dated from Jan. 5th 2013, is out. Nvidia Geforce driver 310.90 WHQL release notes. Has anyone tested it with FSX yet? How about IQ, fps, artifacts, (micro)stutters, etc? FYI, I myself downgraded the GeForce driver on my PC from 310.70 to 306.97 after reading this post: Warning about the new 310.70 drivers
  5. As the name Broadwell has been dropped several times before. I myself want to upgrade my current 3770K to Haswell next year and to Broadwell or Skylake later on mainly for FSX / P3D. But How about those rumors/predictions, that there will be only BGA, but no LGA versions of the Broadwell CPU (in 2014) ? http://semiaccurate.com/2012/11/26/intel-kills-off-the-desktop-pcs-go-with-it/ http://semiaccurate....e-details-leak/ Does this mean that there will be no enthusiast desktop versions of Broadwell (basically a 14 nm die shrink of Haswell), which we can mix and match with OC friendly high end mobos of our choice ?
  6. Rumor has it, that the new AMD/ATI Radeon HD 7970 (R1000 /Tahiti), the first representativeof the so called Southern Islands architecture, will be officially released on Dec. 22.http://www.fudzilla....-percent-fasterhttp://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/25247-amd-radeon-hd-7900-press-event-on-22nd-of-decemberhttp://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/25231-amd-radeon-hd-7970-slide-leakshttp://vr-zone.com/articles/key-radeon-hd-7970-slides-leaked/14259.htmlIt will feature amongst others: A 28 nm structure width A compute power of 3.5 TFLOPS (IEEE754-SP) A core clock speed of 925 Mhz A primitive ratio of 2 prim / clk GCN (Graphics Core Next) shader architecture 32 CU / 2048 ALU stream processors 128 texture units 32 / 128 Rops / Z-Stencil A 3GB GDDR5 VRAM A memory width/speed of 384 bits/5.5 GBps A load/idle power consumption of <300W/<3W 1 8-pin + 1 6-pin power connectors Display outputs: 1 x DVI, 1 x mDP (mini display port), 1 x HDMI Eyefinity 3D PCI Express 3.0 DirectX 11.1 According to this leaked information, the low idle power consumption of less than 3 watts will beachieved by the so called AMD ZeroCore Power technology.Has anyone here an idea, how those alleged features of the new HD 7970 will make it perform with FSX(or the new MS Flight) especially when compared to the GTX 580 ?
  7. Now, as of Dec. 15, the new AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6970 (Cayman) is officially out.Does anyone know, how it fares at FSX, especially when compared to the GTX 480/570/580 ?guru3d.com: AMD Radeon HD 6950/6970fudzilla.com: XFX AMD Radeon HD 6950/6970 testedcomputerbase.de: AMD Radeon HD 6950/6970pcgameshardware.de: AMD Radeon HD 6950/6970
  8. There is a new version of the GTX 480 available since Sept 20th.The POV/TGT Geforce GTX 480 Ultra Charged TFC (Triple-Fan-Cooling) made in Germany, which features: a GPU clock of 763MHz (stock 700 Mhz) shaders set to 1,526MHz (stock 1401 Mhz) memory set o 3,800MHz (stock 3,696MHz) See also:Fudzilla: POV/TGT rolls out fastest GTX 480Geeks3d: POV TGT GeForce GTX 480 Ultra Charged Triple Fan CoolingHexus.net: POV and TGT announce near-silent GTX 480Ingame.de: Point Of View GTX 480 Ultra Charged TFCDoes anyone know, how such a card performs at FSX?
  9. Yes it is this very "H. W. Tismer", the former marketing director of the European branch of Hercules (before its take-over by Guillemot).
  10. Has anyone yet tried one of the new factory overclocked "Point of View TGT GeForce GTX 480 Ultra Charged" cards(built from selected chips by the legendary tuning expert Hans Wolfram Tismer) for FSX? Its GPU/Memory frequenciesare set to 760/3800 Mhz. Point of View TGT GTX 480 Ultra ChargedPoint of View POV TGT Series at FudzillaI'll probably buy one in a few weeks to replace my HD 5870.
  11. The German site pcgameshardware.de currently collects suggestions from their boardmembers, which benchmarks they should carry through for the first samples of GTX 470/480 cards, they can get hold of.As a matter of fact, I opted already for FSX.http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/kommenta...tml#post1587627I am a minority with this sort of benchmark there, but if more of the boardmembers here will join me,maybe the technicians of pcgameshardware.de will also include FSX into their list of games to be tested. So my suggestion is, to check out the thread:http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/kommenta...n-sie-sich.htmland add a post opting for FSX (in German).
  12. I own a BFG GTX 285 and consider to replace it with a HD 5870 or a newer so called Trillian (HD 5890 ???)but I am not 100% sure yet.Has anyone seen this short benchmark test report (written in German) yet ?http://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/sapphire-r...ght-simulator-xIs the upper diagram legit, or too much NV biased ?
  13. This may hold for typical 3D applications like FS9 and FSX. But the GT220 (as well as the GT240 which I bought recently for myself) hasone small advantage over the 9800 and the GTX 265, GTX 275, GTX 285 etc. When it comes to movie playback with Pure Video HD based DXVA, the former features VP4, whereas the 9800 only supports the VP2 Video Processing Engine.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NVIDIA_PureVideohttp://nunnally.ahmygoddess.net/watching-h...hitecture-cuda/
  14. Sorry, to hijack this thread back to it's orignal topic/title, but I think the issue of mixing (comletely) different GPU's on the same motherboard at the same time, has to be addressed seriously at least once in this forum. This may hold for the past and the present. But have you ever heard about the Hydra 200 chip from Lucid which will power the the next Generationof MSI Big Bang motherbords ? AFAIK, unfortunately it is planned to be used only for LGA 1156 but not for LGA 1366 CPUs.http://www.slashgear.com/lucid-hydra-200-p...nboard-2357770/ http://www.lucidlogix.com/products_hydra200.htmlhttp://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3646 I also wonder, if there are any new opportunities for the flight simulator scene, especially if the new MSI Big Bang P55 motherboard with the Hydra 200 chip cansignificantly improve the FPS rate for FSX (with more than one GPU installed) whereconventional boards using good old SLI and Crossfire obviously fail to do so.BTW, that the US/Israeli company Lucidlogix is said to have strong ties to Intel.
