  1. BTW are you getting the Disc. on departures or arrivals? If you are getting them on departures thats a whole new ballgame. Some SID's come equipped with a holding pattern or a vectored waypoint which the FMC hates both of those. Before you leave the gate youll have to check the legs for these type of waypoints and get rid of them. Instead of the hold press the LSK for the next waypoint and use that as a direct to. Youll want to do the same thing with vectors.
  2. Basicly a runway extension is a waypoint for a runway with no procedures. For some reason the FMC dosent allow us to use a airport or a runway as a waypiont so we have to compromise.Next time you select a runway go with a runway extention of at least 8NM. To do this you would enter 8 in the scratchpad ( after you select the runway ) and press 2 or 3R LSK. As I said earlier I'm not exactly sure which one it is. Execute the changes and then go to the LEGS page of the FMC. Close the Disc. by pressing the LSK for the runway extention and pressing 1L LSK and Execute the changes. That should work.
  3. When you select a new runway that has no procedures are you adding a runway extention?I think its 2 or 3R LSK. You should then be able to clear the Discontinuity using the runway extention.
  4. Heres a little trick I use on final approaches if Im getting Vectored in.Lets say youre landing at KMCO and FS9 ATC gives you the ILS 18R approach. After you select the runway go to the legs page of the FMC. If youre being Vectored in youll want the IAF to be your next waypoint. In this case " NAVAL ". Hit the coresponding LSK for NAVAL, go back to page 1 and hit 1L LSK. The inbound course is 183 degrees. Put in 183 in the scratchpad and press 5R LSK for the inbound course. Execute the changes. The EHSI will now display the approach with a solid magenta line representing the inbound course.Hope this helps.
  5. Youre welcome... If you fly from the left seat you don't need the other 2 Baros. I use them as back up. Just use the default "B" command and youll be fine.
  6. No sir they told me not to use a camera. Thats a nice setup you have.
  7. There actually wasint that many differences. The biggest difference I had to overcome was not looking at everythimg through a 17 inch moniter and pointing the mouse over everything. The things I had to remember was where the TA/GA switch was to arm the autothrottle on T/O and using a Tiller. Other than that it was really close. After I landed the plane the pilot told me I could have done it by myself. It was an experience Ill never forget and Id suggest to anybody to try it out.
  8. To my knowledge there are three seperate Baro's on the 744. The captains, the Reserve, and the First Officers. The "B" command only changes the Captains Baro, you'll have to change the other 2 manually.
  9. After years of trying and begging I finally got a chance to fly the real 744 simulator last night. I must say I was really impressed about how close the PMDG 744 compares to the real thing. I flew from KJFK - KMCO with a R/W pilot with me. From pre flight to engine shutdown everything was great. Thank you PMDG for this awesome plane.
  10. >An FS limitation I suspect.>>I've found she turns better on the ground with Auto Rudder>disabled, but I have to go to the menu to switch this on/off.>>Best regards,>Robin.Yes I agree with you.I posted on the Forum about the 744/737 NG taxxing in circes after an autoand. I unchecked this box and it fixed the probem.
  11. In FS9 I don't think theres a way to do that. They modeled the nose wheel to be linked to the rudder ( I don't know why they did this ).
  12. Yes sir, I always start up with the Cessna ready to rumble at KSEA.I get a little trigger happy with the APU so do you think that could have something to do with it???
  13. I know this topic has probably been discussed over and over again but I can't seem to find any answers using the search function.Anyway how do you connect ground power with update 1.2?I know before it was an option on the drop down menu, but with the new update this option dissapeared. So far Ive been using APU power thoughout pre flight. Thanks in advance.
  14. Or if the ILS frequency dosent match the data on the FMC you could change it. Go to the Nav Radio page in the FMC and enter 108.90/282 in the scratchpad. Press 4L LSK to place the data in the ILS reciever.
  15. Yes the Queen does get mighty angry at you if you accelerate more than 4x speed.
  16. I have the same issues. I'm doing everything according to the manual. For a while Ive been hitting the ECAS cancel button untill the fuel in tanks 2 and 3 are less than 1 and 4.
  17. You could also get FSACARS. Its a free program that tells you your touchdown rate, etc.http://www.satavirtual.org/fsacars/
  18. >Here's the situation.>>I was cruising at flight level 350, VNAV and LNAV enganged>holding altitude to the foot, holding the plan on ND to the>nm, just enjoying the scenery(thanks to ground environment an>Flight environment). All of a sudden I get an overspeed, take>a glance at the airspeed indicator and notice 350knots AND>CLIMBING. I click the speed button on the MCP to see if it>would do anything but doesnt do to the fact that im in vnav>mode. after a while i realize that vnav was not holding my>speed, but i myself was controlling the speed for some reason,>even being in vnav.>>Anyone run into this or know what's ghoing on. >>Thanks, much appreciated. You can control your own speed in VNAV using speed interviene. While in VNAV click on the white wheel under the speed window to display the speed. Click on the same wheel to let VNAV control your speed. See the 2 pics below:Vnav using speed interviene:VNAV without speed interviene:
  19. I have also noticed that FS9 will freeze once in a while not just with the 744, but other complicated addons as well. Sometimes it freezes when I select some options with ATC and sometimes when I try to do multiple things at once like making a turn while slowing down and extending flaps. I have found a simple solution that does the trick:Next time the sim freezes press Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up the task manager. Imediately close the task manager and hit Alt + Tab to go back to Flight sim. It should unfreeze then and if not try it again.
  20. I already have my allowence money saved up for the dvd and when it comes out : :-bluegrab
  21. >(On this topic: Am I the only one who sometimes thinks to>>myself 'V1' when approaching a traffic light that goes to>>orange and I decide to run it? No-one? That's just me is it?>>Ah I see...)>>Mark,>>I hate to go off topic but I couldn't resist, let me tell you>this, I don't callout "V1" in my head at traffic lights, but I>do feel like I'm turning on the strobes and landing lights>when I turn on my headlights. Just the "click" sound makes me>think of it:D>>I guess I'll soon be saying "Starting Engine Number 1" when>turning the ignition, "Packs On" when turning on the A/C, even>"Taxi Checklist Please" to a friend sitting in the passenger>seat... :-xxrotflmao *:-* And dont forget about the approach checklist when youre pulling up to your driveway :-doh.
  22. You can only arm/activate the ILS the same way as LNAV. The plane needs to be in a position where its facing the LOC. Otherwise youll get a FMC message saying " NAV INVALID ".
  23. Yes the knob does slip quite a bit. Glad I could help.
  24. Its been said before:The PMDG 744 is not a addon for FS9, FS9 is a addon for the 744 :(.
  25. Are you using the X52?If so there is a wheel like knob on the throttle unit below where you would put your thumb. This is the other control for the rutter. Just make sure it is centered at all times.
