  1. You are not totally wrong. As an example, the Aerowinx 744 suite has its own graphics engine, however someone has made a programe so you can use MSFS as a graphics engine. The software for the 744 works outside of FS. As I believe what happens is that essentially the location of the 744 is then sent to FS via the slew command I think anyway and so they get around it that way. Technically they could use Outerra as long as it is possible to inject the location into the engine. Navaids, ils etc... are all contained within the 744 programme. Ok so you only get a 2d cockpit view but you do get a fully simulated 747. I hope that makes some kind of sense.Cheers,Tim Mitchell
  2. David,Ahh ok that makes sense.I was watching a documentary on Rolls Royce making their turbofan engines and they showed the gap and it is literally nanometers. I just thought it would of been more of a safety feature but i guess that seems to be a by-product... Unless you hear it so much you stop listening. Cheers,Tim
  3. Im guessing whatever the fan is connected to - some sort of shaft (no sexual innuendo implied...) is lubricated so it can spin freely.Im guessing the noise it makes is to warn ground grew that the turbine is spinning which I'm guessing if something did get drawn into it by the wind cause some minor damage to the fan blades themselves, or a moor extreme example of someone sticking their hand into the fan blades and even at that speed could cut it clean off.Cheers,Tim
  4. Working on my ATI 5870 :)THanks Heyzues
  5. *******,The legendary teachings are true. You have come forth to show us our way into the light!I have applied many of your recommendations and have nothing but good news. My system has never been so stable and smooth, like a warm knife through butter.Currently running an i7 920 @ 4GHZ, 6gb low latency ram, ATI 5870 1GB, P6TV2 motherboard. I have used the high mem fix, stale buffer threshold, max texture data and texture max load i think. No buffer pool yet but I will try that tomorrow. I thought I'd share something that shows the gratification of now being able to really use FSX to its max.No title as of yet, and unfinished, this details some of the life of ******* and the legend he has spread through-out. Enjoy! In the beginning there were naysayers, non believers of the power of *******. One particular night while traversing the perils of the AVSIM forum that, ******* took out his hand , to type about his findings of Flight Sim X. Reading one post made him think that he could help the lad with his CTD's. As time grew, word of ******* spread to the four courners of the web, as news of his magical skills grew. Flocks of simmers would flood to the forum every hour to see of any more updates. Whispers of high memory fixes and bufferpools as low as 0 wondered the community. Those brave enough stepped forward, to apply his teachings as the way of their own. The days drew on as the teachings slowly took hold. Reported by many (and including the auother), these historic teachings would change the way the CPU deals with fibres, how it would be so beneficial, Scripture on Fibre Time Fractions that were never thought useful. It turned out however that not all was well with this knowledge. Word grew of some disgruntled FS9 users in the Southland, claiming this was no magic but more cheap fixes that would not work.Another couple of extracts. On these ancient commamdents, enscribed with teachings of high memory fixes and a stale buffer threshold that shall be usedPeople cam far and wide to hear the techings of *******. Thou shalt use a Buffer Poll of no more than 0. 1 Maybe added but taken away again as to not be 1 but only 0.Thanks very much!
  6. Will the NGX2.0 support a gear lever? :( I must admit the standard of some questions is questionable...asking if the most basic features are going to be modelled...
  7. Dan,Many thanks for your continued hard work. All very much appriciated. Cheers,Tim
  8. Chaps,I'm getting a similar problem. When in VC mode for several minutes/hours, I find that the displays stop updating. The Plane doesn't fly off course but I need to change view to get them refreshing again before, they stop. I can fly from 2D panel and they never freeze, seems to be only in VC mode. Currently using FSX - SP2, Windows 7 64Bit, 6gb RAM, ATI 5870 1024mb, and i7920 @ 4GHZ. Now the processor is over clocked however someone else I know gets this issue and they're not over clocked, however they use windows 7 64 too. All the redistributable s are installed provided with the 747X, MD11X so I can't imagine its anything like a corrupt download. Anyone have any Ideas? As this is a new PC, I've done several reformats and when I have flown the MD11 on each time, the PFD, ND and other two displays stop responding in VC. FSX is being run in administrator mode. Cheers,Tim
  9. I found that out from looking at other repaints but it didnt seem to have any effect. However I shall try again.
  10. I keep seeming to have this problem with textures appearing all over the aircraft. Now ive tried several different ways of getting them to show correctly like using another rpaint, putting my version over and saving .dds but it doesnt work. Am I missing a vital step? Pictures BelowCheersTim
  11. FYI I have managed to sort it out. I imported the alpha channel from a repaint (KLM to be precise) to my tail texture and voila!
  12. I have been saving it as a DXT3 however it still seems to show the whole tail texture as light and not just the lamp shine area. I assume you mean DXT3 for both Tail_LT and Tail_L.bmps?
  13. Hi,As there is no FS9 paintkit I have used the only MD11 paintkit available to create a repaint. All is fine until I get to the Tail Lighting at Night. Basically instead of the area where the lamp would shine being lit up - the whole tail texture is lit up...almost as tho the tail is in a room that is lit from everywhere...no shadow effects or anything just a bright texture. I've tried saving it as a DXT 3, DXT 1, Extended 32bit 888-8 and all give the same problem. Is there something I am missing?Best Regards,Tim

Yo,Great document there. If it helps I use a cost index between 60 and 90. I know at BAV we have some cost index's that have a CI of 0 in the climb but will go to 60 once cruising. Best thing I can recommend is to try one at 9999 and one at 0 (don't have to be too long) so you can see what difference there is between the two extremes.CheersTim
