  1. But.......they've said they're working on it. If one of Level-D's developers has said they're working on it, well, call me stupid but I'm inclined to believe him. Sorry, but I don't understand why people have this sense of certainty that this project is never going to happen. Is it because they haven't updated their progress beyond "there will be a 757?" What makes us, as simmers, entitled to updates and screenshots and videos? I feel ridiculous because I'm sure I'm coming off as some kind of massive tool, but it bugs me when people make statements like so many I've seen in this thread. Or when they demand things or feel entitled to them, then make blanket statements and assumptions when they don't get what they want, or feel entitled to. This is from earlier in this thread. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but Tabs is one of PMDG's developers, right?
  2. I'd just like to say a big thank you to WOAI, and all the developers who contributed, for sharing their work with us--for free! There are probably nicer looking, or more up-to-date, AI packages out there, but this has served me really well. I'm also glad they've decided to give us several months' notice, instead of, say, yanking everything down out of nowhere.
  3. Sorry, I don't know what to say. I just found this so fantastic, I had to quote it. Twenty-one million dollars per plane....?!
  4. This is total speculation on my part, and I may have no clue what I'm talking about. I'm not sure these days. But what if the delay is due to advances in technology? In the six years since the Level-D 757 was announced, huge advances have been made in the FS payware world. It seems like developers have learned so much more about FSX's limitations, for example, and how to find ways around them. So now we're seeing more advanced, detailed aircraft than ever before. As I understand it, PMDG designed their 737 from scratch. Not a single line of code was carried over from the 747, MD-11, or any other plane. What if LDS is doing something similar--designing the 757 from the ground up, based on the latest things they've learned about how FSX works? In other words, yes, we've been waiting for a long time, but when it does come out, it'll be the best work LDS can manage. I'd rather wait for that, than have them release something that's instantly 'behind the times' because it doesn't take advantage of what we know about FSX today. Also, I agree 100% with those who say LDS doesn't owe any of us anything. No one's pre-ordered the 757 or made a deposit on it. And if LDS decides to do their work without offering us updates or screenshots, so be it. That's how they choose to do things. Besides, Daryl has said many, many times: "The 757 is coming." Why should we not believe him? Because it's taken six years? Because there's been only one picture released in that time? If those are the only reasons, well, I personally don't think they're very good ones.
  5. Personally, I prefer VAs that are fictional (not based on real-life airlines). I guess it gives me more scope to use my imagination--if we're doing all this stuff virtually, might as well go all-out! I fly for American Flight Airways. You could call it my favorite since I've flown there since 2008; in that time I've joined and abandoned several other VAs for various reasons. But I've stuck around with AFA--they have a nice fleet selection, tons of routes, pretty active forums... ...and they're totally fake, haha
  6. Quick question: with payware aircraft that don't have a 2D cockpit panel, is it possible to add one of your own? Can you find a nice 777 panel, drop it in your aircraft file, and add/change a few lines to the .cfg or something like that?
  7. A payware Metro! How exciting--it's one of my favorite planes ever. Looks like a mosquito to me
  8. I only have the Level-D 767--it was my first payware purchase for FS--and I really like it. Like others have said, the VC textures are a bit old, but I can easily look past that because it's a high-quality plane in almost every other area. And the FPS are very decent for my computer, which was brand-new about 2 1/2 years ago!
  9. Excellent point, and piece of advice. Flight1's refund policy is the exception, not the norm, when it comes to flight sim addons. I think it would be very wise for us to do our research before buying anything. Check out reviews on Avsim and elsewhere on the Internet. Look up videos on Youtube. Before you buy a non-refundable product, you should have a good idea as to what you're buying.
  10. As far as I know, ETOPS would not be required for Caribbean flights, because according to the Great Circle Mapper-- http://www.gcmap.com...tist&DU=mi&E=60 --you'll always be within 60 minutes of an airport. (To show the shaded ETOPS area, scroll down to the "ETOPS" tab, check the "60 minutes" box, then click "Draw Map".) I think there's another rule, not related to ETOPS, that requires life vests on board for all flights that travel over something like 50 or 75 NM from shore.
  11. I'm curious. What other facts do you need? Daryl has said it all right there. And he's under absolutely no obligation to say anything else. I don't see any problem here, other than a lot of people exhibiting a ridiculous sense of entitlement and throwing out logical fallacies.
  12. And......and what exactly does a cat have to do with a piece of software?
  13. So.....if I'm understanding you correctly, you're assuming that because we've only seen one screenshot in "7 years", it means they're not working on it, or they've abandoned the project, or that Daryl's outright lying to us when he says "the 757 is coming". I just don't get that correlation at all.
  14. What makes you think he's 'pulling our leg'?
  15. Love it! Now THAT'S customer service! :LMAO:
