  1. Thanks for the advice i'll do it and report back Guthrie Zuehlke
  2. @8x SSAA it cuts the frames but it is still smooth. So stuttering is non existent. Because of all the addons I run I upgraded my RAM to 32 mb and that did seem to speed up my system some. Before I upgraded, I had 16gb. I monitored my RAM usage and it was using 80% or more pretty consistently. Once I doubled it things got smoother. I think it was bottle necking my CPU. I know a lot of addons will soak up RAM. The most important thing, however is the speed of the RAM.
  3. Yes I do. I turned on the dome lights using FSlabs Spotlight. This instantly cut frames in half with 8x SSAA. Went back to 8x MSAA got maybe 4 frames back. Went down to 4x SSAA, and frame rate was the same as 8x MSAA...Around 25-35 fps. The weird thing is that the Frame Rates are showing 25-35 fps inside the cockpit with dome lights on during T/O yet it appears smooth. Flight over New York at night in a thunderstorm with dynamic lighting on, dome lights on...smooth. Guthrie Zuehlke
  4. Thanks for the suggestion! I loaded up at LaGuardia in a major thunderstorm at night with dynamic lighting on, and flew an approach. 30+ frames both inside and outside the cockpit. I know this sounds crazy but it's smooth. Guthrie Zuehlke
  5. First my computer specs. i78700k OC 4.8 ghz. Nvidia RTX 2080 32 gb Corsair Vengeance RAM @ 3200mhz Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD. Dell monitor with GSync 2560x1440 @ 144hz I fly the FS Labs A319/320 exclusively for Prepar3d 4.5 It recommends using MSAA for anti aliasing which i’ve always done. Today, for fun I tried 8x SSAA. For some unknown reason it actually runs the sim smoother in all situations. I tried lower SSAA settings and there was no difference in smoothness or frames whether it was 2x or 8x SSAA. I understand the different Anti Aliasing techniques, and SSAA should tax the system more. Others have reported bad stuttering. The opposite is the case for me. Anyone have insight into why this is? Thanks. Guthrie Zuehlke
  6. Yes. My Vcore is 1.375 with Hyper threading off. I do that because I found that the sim runs smoother for me with it off...I also set my load line calibration to level 2. I purchased some new RAM 32 gb of Corsair Vengeance, and I use the XMP Profile which runs it at 3200 mhz. Further speeding up the system. My temps are around 38C idle, and 52-60c running the sim. I’ve never seen a temp higher than 62C. Everything is stable. I ran prime95 for a day with no crashes.
  7. Recently, I’ve invested in some new hardware with the goal of achieving smooth flight with higher settings. I’m happy to report that all my hard work has paid off, with the help of these forums! I started with upgrading my video card to the RTX 2080 (not just for sim I play other games too) I purchased a Corsair liquid cooler H100i Pro. I already had 16gb of Ripjaw memory so I stayed with that. Finally, I purchased the 970 Evo Plus V-Nano 1TB SSD where I loaded Prepar3d and all my addons. I have an i7 8700k and I achieved a stable 5 ghz overclock on it, which took some work. The results are wonderful. Smooth flight with very few stutters even flying into JFK. However, reasonable compromises have been made to both my settings in Prepar3d and my addons which I will list. If you’ve read this far thank you! If I can help anyone with advice I’d be happy to share what i’ve learned throughout this journey. Thanks for reading! 8. Make sure you level the aircraft over the threshold, and then drop throttle back, lastly gently flare it. Guthrie
  9. setup a final approach, save it. Practice landing for 6-8 hours straight pausing only for the bathroom. Practice when to throttle back and flare. Remember to level off over the threshold before you flare it or you will do the dreaded float 10 feet above the runway and touchdown late forcing you to mash the toe breaks and full reverse thrust before going off the end of the runway. Not that I ever did that...but my friend told me it could happen  Also, before you ask why you can't engage LNAV after takeoff. Keep in mind the aircraft has to be trimmed correctly and pressure off the yoke before it will engage.. Finally keep in mind..before you ask questions on these forums. People will be hostile to you for asking questions on this forum if you have not meticulously studied the 300+ page manual as well as done all the tutorial flights. I know this from personal experience. Guthrie
  10. I would love to have PMDG's "problem" of having people beg for their products. Guthrie
  11. Hello Fellow Simmers, Like most of you I am a huge fan of the PMDG NGX. I have dedicated a lot of time learning the ins and outs of this wonderful simulation, and I am almost at a place where I feel comfortable flying it online. As it is Christmas time my most excellent wife (with a little help from some Christmas cash from mom  ) Has allowed me to purchase something for my modest computer cockpit. I currently have the CH Products yoke, throttle quadrant, and rudder peddles. I remember first getting these, and how it took my flight simulator experience from "hey look how many flips I can do in this 747" to "how does this FMC work" that is to say those items made me a better, and more serious simmer. I have never flown online before, but I have watched videos of other people on youtube. I am fascinated about the posibility of doing it too. I am now considering purchasing this from VRInsight. http://www.vrinsight.com/public_html/index.php?module=Html&action=SiteComp&sSubNo=24 Do any of you have any experience with this item? Do you think that this is worth the money $500? Would this integrate with the PMDG NGX, and future addons well? Any advice any of you have would be most welcome. Thank you very much for you time and assistance. Happy Holidays, Guthrie
  12. I think they all took sabbaticals from work to become professional jump ropers... B) Guthrie
  13. sounds like you have some calibration issues with your throttles. I only calibrate my throttles through fsx for the NGX. not FSUIPC. Make sure that your throttles are properly calibrated through your ch software, then make sure you have them setup correctly in fsx. If you use multiple programs at the same time to calibrate your throttles you will get massive issues. Btw this is absolutely not a problem with the NGX. Guthrie
  14. today I downloaded the beta, and did a flight from winnepeg to anchorage. I monitored the flight closely. I used the PMDG MD-11 at altitudes of 340-350. I am happy to report that the weather looked amazing and the windshifts that had previously doomed my flight were gone. I only saw a couple minor effects on the aircraft, but the autopilot was able to adjust without issue. I would say this issue is resolved with the current beta. Amazing job. I am a happy customer at this point. Guthrie
  15. tyvm for the encouraging news. I am excited to try it out! like Phil said I think if you get the windshift issue sorted this will be the best weather addon available. I appreciate your efforts, and the suggestions. Guthrie
  16. Hello, I purchased this on the comments and reviews that I read. I have previously been using AS2012 I did a flight from Winnepeg to Anchorage in the PMDG MD-11. The cloud coverage was impressive, and accurate. I was hopeful on the wind smoothing. I discovered that an old problem that active sky has seemed to fix returned with this addon. Its the age old fsx problem of extreme wind shifts. in all of my PMDG aircraft including the NGX, these windshifts will cause autopilots to disconnect and create overspeed and low speed warnings, and can send my aircraft diving into the ground. I cannot accept this as a $45 addon when I can just run active sky 2012 with no issues whatsoever. I have read that the makers of OpusFSX will not ever never ever ever go to the global weather environment. I have read its PMDG's problem (it may well be, I don't know) To be honest I could care less. The only thing I know is...it's my problem. I feel that for the money this addon should work as good or preferably better than the current choices. I can see it has great potential, and does many things right. This windshift issue however has the potential to completely ruin a flight making the accurate weather depiction and awesome cloud coverage, and all the other neat features of this addon completely worthless. HIFIsim had the same problem with its active sky franchise. They knew how important it was to fix, and they fixed it. In my opinion it is currently the best choice out there for a fully featured weather simulation. That being said I can see the potential of this addon. I hope this issue is addressed quickly. I understand that this bug resides within FSX itself. I know the addon developers are simply dealing with the crappy bugged code that microsoft left fsx with. I can imagine for any developer this is frustrating....BUT....this is not freeware. The expectations are higher. Fix this. I am using OpusFSX with default settings. WInd smoothing is enabled. I am using it on one machine no networking involved. FSUIPC wind smoothing and pressure smoothing is disabled. I am using the most recent version of OpusFSX. Any advice or assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guthrie
  17. any word on the southwest colorado one livery for the ngx -700 Ian Bhenke
  18. This thread is turning surprisingly elitist...you all play a flight simulator. It's not real! Who cares how people use the simulator get over yourselves...And these elitist vatsimmers posting here are exactly why I don't use vatsim.Guthrie z
  19. what are your system spec's? what kind of addons do you have? Did you try and reinstall FSX? How is your hardrive? Defragged lately? What kind of tweaks do you have in your FSX.CFG? Do you run on a 32 bit or 64 bit cpu? I disagree with how you call out the PMDG employees. You didn't pay these guys to troubleshoot your PC for you. Obviously the NGX runs fine on most peoples systems and doesn't freeze when they load it. This should indicate you have a problem somewhere within your system. How is this anyone at PMDG's fault? PMDG carefully added the minimum and maximum specs to run this simulation. Does your PC fully meet these specifications? These are some of the troubleshooting questions you should be asking yourself. If you notice none of them have to do with posting on the forums and calling out PMDG employees Guthrie Z
  20. I found in VNAV descents that the plane will always try to be a little low once you are getting close to your intercept alt the plane should level off allowing you to easily slow your speed put flaps out and gear down this will get you right where you need to be for intercept. I also will put in a speed restriction of about 225 this forces the plane to drop alt faster at the beginning of descent when I can use speed brakes (if there is a tailwind). by the time I am breaking 10000agl the plane is slower and descending gently.... it takes away some of the slippery "ness" of the plane. I don't know if its right but it works. Guthrie Z
  21. Put a speed restriction of 225/10000 in the DES page. Works for me every time. Guthrie Z
  22. I can't help but point out the irony. Your post seems a bit rude and aggressive. Guthrie Z
  23. so awesome...good job man. Guthrie Z
  24. Thanks everyone for your support. I think the flight sim community is one of the greatest. I just made another landing my best yet. I realized I was cutting throttle too early and flaring too hard so this last one I waited until 30 was called then cut throttle and just sort of feathered it at about 15 to 20 and I think I greased this one. Now to do this with a crosswind and weather lol. I think ill practice it 500 more times first. One piece of the puzzle at a time Guthrie Z
