  1. There's no secret to opening the door other than following the instructions provided in the .pdf manual...except that if you are having problems, try the 'fix' files found in the pinned support thread...I needed the fix to get my door to work.
  2. Amir;If I read your post right, it sounds like you were initially following a route with LNAV, and then hit the 'heading hold' button when ATC gave you vectors?I don't know if it is causing your problem, but the 'heading hold' button tells the AP to maintain the heading you were on when you pressed it, not necessarily the heading listed in the 'heading select window'. To follow that number you need to press the 'select' button in the middle of the heading select knob. On your PFD you should see a HDG SEL flag if you've done that right. Then you can change the heading in the heading select window and the AP should follow it. This is different from how default FSX aircraft work.Sorry if you already knew this, I figured it was a place to start. Good luck!
  3. Did you click "add to cart"? I neglected to do that the first time I tried to buy.
  4. I found the same problem. The texture is actually Air New Zealand, it's just the "Flightsim" entry in the aircraft.cfg that is messed up. I changed it to read as listed below and it worked fine (change the "x" to the next number appropriate to your config):[fltsim.x]title=PMDG 747-8i Air New Zealandsim=B747-400model=8ipanel=VCsound=GENXtexture=NZ8ikb_checklists=atc_id_color=0xffffffffatc_id=ZK-PMDatc_airline=New Zealandatc_flight_number=007atc_type=BOEINGatc_model=747-8iui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type=747-8iui_variation=Air New Zealandui_typerole=747-8iui_createdby=PMDGdescription=Boeing 747-8iF Product Extension for use with PMDG 747-400X\nPMDG Simulations\nwww.precisionmanuals.com \nProduced under license from Boeing Management Company.\nnBoeing 747, 747-400, 747-8, 747-8i the 747 airplane configuration & Boeing are among the trademarks owned by Boeing.\nvisual_damage=0atc_heavy=1atc_parking_types=GATE,RAMPairline_name=Air New Zealand
  5. Eric (Olson);Page 12-36 of the FMC users manual talks about how to fly DIRECT to a waypoint by intercepting and following a given radial from wherever you happen to be.But I think Eric Vander's idea is a lot easier. It's kind of confusing so I'll use an example. Let's say you want to fly to the CASANOVA VOR from the South (on the 180 radial), starting at 10 miles out. You could make two waypoints in your flightplan that look like this:-CSN180/10-CSNSo, from the previous waypoint in your plan it should fly to the new spot 10 miles south of CSN, then fly directly up to CSN on that radial (Northward).Make sense? I haven't tried this exact scenario so if it doesn't work let me know! Matt Smith
  6. Just a stab in the dark here...are you running Vista or Windows 7?Relatively recently windows did something to the file uiautomationcore.dll that made FSX crash on my system when I changed views. I solved the problem by downloading an older version of that DLL and placing in my FSX directory. The only thing I can think of...good luck.
  7. Easiest way would be to go to the [fuel] section of the aircraft.cfg and increase the number of gallons in the right and left aux tanks.
  8. Chuck -I've downloaded your Piedmont and it is FANTASTIC. Really beautifully done. I also appreciate the prop texture download you've put together. If you ever find yourself wanting for a MAAM repaint project, may I humbly suggest something from Northwest Airlines...neither the early 1930s livery (ie Henry Ford Museum version) nor the more colorful 1950s look seem to be currently available for the MAAM. I think about trying my hand at it now and then but haven't made the time!Matt
  9. One more note...I did come up with a very good 'workaround' for the problem.I set up my keyboard "Delete" key to be the AP on/off switch. I also set up the left and right arrows just below the delete key to be the decrease/increase heading bug controls. Now, if I have the AP set, and I want to change a degree or two all I have to do is hit the "delete" key, wait a second, change the heading and then hit "delete" again to re-energize the AP. In the time that it takes to change the heading, the aircraft's pitch doesn't change much...especially if I had her in trim before turning on the AP like I'm supposed to.Works for me for now!
  10. Bill;Is the original author of this Sperry.gau still available? Can he/she take a crack at updating it to work for us in FSX on 64-bit systems?Seems like it could be a simple fix of the control acceleration for someone who has access to the original code and the ability to write C++ (neither of which I have :( )Thanks for consideration...Matt
  11. Sorry Vaughn, all I know is that it seems to work in FSX.Matt
  12. Check the second page of the pinned "Engine Start" thread. BeaverDriver's fix solved my problem with this.
  13. Vaughn - that's exactly the problem! The black alpha channel in FSX = max transparency.Had I known you were "DXTBMP Qualified" I would have just told you what to do to fix it :)Enjoy the Maam, it's a great airplane. Lots of great liveries available too...Matt
  14. Vaughn;I had the same problem initially with the MAAM in FSX. The offending bitmap is called "R4D_engineparts" I believe. An easy fix I can think of is downloading the DC-3 Airways MAAM DC-3 FSX texures from here: http://www.dc3airways.com/our_fleet/fsx_maam_textures.htm and pulling whatever files you need out of there...should work. Back up your original texture.UAL first in case you overwrite something you shouldn't have.Matt
  15. Worked perfectly (pax & cargo models) - thank you very much!
  16. It will give the engines a little more power. Unless I'm remembering this wrong, the power scalar for the R4D is .97, so this mod will make the pax/cargo versions on par with that version. A little loss of reality but that's a tradeoff for being able to restart the engines (or start from cold & dark).Personally I start with the engines running so I use the normal power scalar on my pax/cargo versions.
  17. I find that if I set the engine power scalar in the aircraft.cfg to 0.95 or above I can restart engines. This in FSX.
  18. Gordon - excellent! Beware though that adding liveries can get way out of hand. After about twenty something I had to STOP...You have been warned! :)
  19. Gordon - Most FS9 repaints for the MAAM will work with little or no modification. If you are running FSX SP2, you will most likely need to get the "FSX SP2 transparency fix" files from the MAAM site and dump those files in the texture folder.
  20. Thanks Craig; The problem with the MAAM Sperry autopilot is that once the AP is engaged, if you try to adjust the heading using the appropriate knob, it will only change in 10-degree increments. If the autopilot is not engaged, ironically, you can adjust it in one-degree increments. The old work-around was to use the mouse wheel...apparently that used to change it a degree at a time; unfortunately that is no longer the case with my system (Vista 64-bit).I would love to have the Sperry working correctly; I've got the default FSX one pasted in there as a stopgap :(I'm good with xml gauges but I'm useles swith the .gau files, or I'd have tried to fix it myself :)Matt
  21. Bill;I'm running FSX Acceleration on Vista64. I also have the 10-degree bug, even with the mouse wheel. Matt Smith
