  1. Funny you say that - I actually prefer the efis/map layout. I think my virtual scan is stuck on the '6-pack' setting.
  2. The swimsuit Southwest paint is already in the Avsim library (search bruno.zip)...
  3. Indeed. My only point here is that the Earth did not stop turning and/or burst into flame when PMDG released a 'visual model only' for the 747 and likely would not do so if they repeated that with the 737
  4. Thanks Christian! I cleaned up the wings a little and painted the pylons to match...should be ready to go. Will try to upload today.
  5. Haha, that is hilarious! But maybe PMDG is going "100% realistic" from here out though
  6. They slid the 747-400 flight dynamics over to the 747-8 pretty easily! Adding the new style winglets as a visual model upgrade only is a no-brainer to me...but there's probably no money in it unless they wrap it up with a BBJ/ -ER expansion pack to make it worth purchasing.
  7. I changed the font, and added some blue paint back aft. On a side note I also darkened the wings by 25%...I think it is more accurate than the whiter-looking default wings from the paint kit.
  8. Roger...I figured out what happened with this. I started this paint as SE-RHS, which has an "R" that looks a lot more like Helvetica (I had chosen Arial first but it was not right). Then when I found out the OP wanted RHR I just changed the text without double checking the font. You are correct that RHR is much more like Arial. What airline uses two different registration fonts! LOL The flags are all different places on the two birds also.
  9. Christian - thanks for the feedback. If you want to paint this one, go for it! I thought I had read that you weren't taking new projects for awhile and figured this one was within my capability so I gave it a shot. The font I used for the Boeing 737-800 is called "BOEING-style"...closest thing to the Boeing house font I've found online.
  10. Rich; Here she is (SE-RHR)...I think it is finished, but let me know if you see any mistakes. Will try to do the night textures etc. this weekend. I'll send you a PM with a link to download the ptp so you don't have to wait until it is available on the AVSIM library. When I do upload to the library I will probably include SE-RHS also.
  11. Rich; I had a bit of a breakthrough yesterday and things are coming along better now...one question: is it RHR or RHS that you really want...your original post mentions both? There are some subtle differences... If you like eyebrow windows, then RHS is the ticket. If you prefer without then RHR. I can do either, just let me know!
  12. Update: I hope I didn't speak too soon on this one! I've completed the tail, but the way the aft fuselage texture mapping is done will make it near impossible to do the blue and orange curves back there in a 100% realistic way. I'll keep trying to get it as close as I can.
  13. Here's what I've got so far...had to draw this little dude in Photoshop based on a different version of the logo I found online.
  14. Ralf; I think you're a fine painter...it's just your tools that are bad! If you ever get the urge to try again, Google "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Freeware" and you should be able to find download links and keys for it online, completely legal since Adobe released it into cyberspace for free. If you use that program you should find manipulation of the alpha channels and creation of the night textures etc. to be a breeze. I like it.
  15. I can definitely see why there have been so many runway overruns In the 737!
  16. You have to make sure that the takeoff callouts are selected in the 'settings' for the repaint that you are flying...my guess is that they weren't. If it happens for all the repaints that you fly then you might have a problem.
  17. Thanks Bogdan...I did read the FCTM...or more accurately MISread it. I've been flaring a little too late and too aggressively. It also said that the flare should last 4-8 seconds, which is what I've been getting on my non-balloon flares. Feels like an eternity!
  18. I always seem to balloon and/or float a little bit...even when I cross the threshold at Vref. I start my flare at the 10ft callout, pitch up a couple of degrees (result being generally less than 5 degrees total) and gradually close the throttle but it still seems to take awhile to get her down. Maybe I'm not doing it smoothly enough? Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of how far the aircraft should travel from the start of the flare to touchdown?
  19. Kyle; For what it is worth, Radar Contact will only give you one of these "cross 40NM from XXX at 11,000" etc. instructions in reference to the last point that is on your route. Not sure if that is actually the destination airport or the last waypoint before the destination (the instruction manual is a little vague there) but I build my routes with the last waypoint being a navaid on the field or close by just to be sure, even if I plan to put in a particular approach when I get there. They never just give you DME from a random off-route point, fortunately. The rest of what you are saying is spot on, these aren't legitimate ATC simulators but definitely provide more immersion than FSX ATC. With RC, the vectoring can be scary in elevated terrain but you can elect to fly the IAP as published and the 'controllers' will leave you alone to do your thing within 30 miles of the field.
  20. I have had hardware problems like that...cant think of any other reason.
  21. This is typically caused by forgetting to turn the air conditioning packs on. You also want to make sure you dial in your cruise altitude in the pressurization system on the overhead panel. Both of these are on the right hand side of the overhead. When you turn the packs on the pressure inside the plane will start to increase and the noise will eventually stop. Wear your virtual oxygen mask until then B) Interestingly, this is one emergency condition in the 737NG that doesn't have an actual flashing light to tell you the problem...if the pressure in the cabin gets to low the airplane sounds an alarm that is similar to the 'takeoff configuration' alarm, which is probably what you are hearing. I believe that Boeing has added a light to the panel in addition to the horn since the Helios crash that was caused by a pressurization error.
  22. Sorry Connor - I just saw this. No, unfortunately that must be a different guy...I don't have the 1900D, just wanted to let people know I was being harassed by the same guy!
  23. Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I found this through a google search for 'abertabaldwin@yahoo.com'... I too have received many irritating emails from this brazen asshat, getting completely wound up over registration numbers, old vs. new liveries, whether aircraft were owned or leased by the airline etc. Sounds like I'm not alone by a long shot! I think he is legitimately insane so the best option must be to add him to our 'blocked senders' and move on.
