  1. Well. I wouldn’t call it a solution (I actually didn’t) more an interesting find as the effect has been undeniable. I am not ”stubbornly sticking to a solution” at all; this is no solution. The solution would be for Asobo to make sure their program runs on all hardware. Then, to be honest, changing timings should simply not be needed as they have always worked, not only in everything else I do but in MSFS up to right before SU5 as well. If that is stubborn, or as you imply, r3tarded (per your really funny ”joke” about legless spiders) I couldn’t care less even if I wanted to.
  2. Because it shouldn’t be needed..? Was that your intellectual contribution to the thread?
  3. Not at the computer right now, but I’m pretty sure it’s 860W.
  4. Absolutely. As the issue was introduced for me with SU5 it is not at all far fetched to assume a bug was introduced that triggers on certain combinations of hardware. This does in no way imply faults in the hardware itself (as it functions perfectly well in all the other use cases). On a second note, I’ve built all my computers going back the last 25 years (including the current one) so I am not new in this game either.
  5. The RAM works just fine, not switching that at all (memtest86 for 15-20hrs). I doubt MSFS is more demanding on the memory than, say, recompiling my Gentoo install (where most of the RAM is used during the crunching). Other games, such as thehunter:COTW, give me higher temps than MSFS and have never crashed during my 500hr grind. That MSFS somehow would be more efficient in discerning issues with my RAM where everything else fails feels quite far-fetched tbh.
  6. Yes, I’ve read on several occasions that ”underclocking” solves the CTDs for some, but I am reluctant to do that as everything else apart from MSFS after SU5 works as it should.
  7. I started by lowering buildings, grass (I think) and trees to medium. The result was CTD. Lowering trees to low let me complete 6/6 flights. Raising trees back to Medium again resulted in two CTDs out of two attempted flights. Going back, yet again, to low trees let me complete flights again without issue. I don’t think I have had one single CTD while having trees on low. I have not, however, tried other combos such as buildings to low and trees to medium and can’t say if just ”trees” is the silver bullet. Have been away with the family a number of days and will resume my tests when back home. When at first I noticed the CTDs disappear I was so happy I could use the sim again and did some OnAir flights.
  8. The RAM is the G.Skill Trident Zero (3600mhz / CL16). Simply running the profile in the motherboard settings. Works flawless.
  9. Nope. Hardware and Windows 10 works just fine. Issue introduced with SU5.
  10. 3900x with 2080ti and 3600mhz ram (32gb). No issues with temps on Ultra. No overclocks on either CPU or GPU. No issues with performance either (locked at 30). Issue introduced with SU5. Before that, CTDs were as rare as twin horned unicorns.
  11. So, after I removed the sim from the computer and let my annoyance cool down over a couple of days I figured I’d try reinstalling to see if that might fix it. Of course it did not (didn’t believe it would either TBH). I figured I’d just uninstall it again, but thought that considering I had nothing to loose, I might as well start experimenting with the in-game settings. I remember reading at the MSFS forum that some guy solved the CTDs by lowering some of the settings. Never figured this would apply to me, as the sim runs well up until CTD. However I found something rather interesting in my case. If I run trees on anything more than LOW I seem to be prone to CTD. Run it on low=drastically reduced CTD. Even at medium it is CTD galore. Have always run on Ultra with no issues (before SU 5). So to my fellow brothers suffering from CTDs, might want to experiment a bit!
  12. .... which is kind of insane in and on itself...
  13. Lovely story! Being a young boy in Sweden in the 80s and having a father that was an active hunter was the only way for me to try anything more powerful than an air rifle. I've shot thousands of rounds with that air rifle and when autumn arrived, I used to follow dad to the range to zero in the rifles he would use in the coming hunt. At that time I got to shoot the .22 as well. I will never forget the time when I as a young lad at no more than ten years was at the range with my dad and an uncle (on the mothers side). My dad told him I was a pretty decent shot and they were kind of back-and-forth on the subject. My dad put a box of match sticks on a stub maybe 20 meters away and told the uncle I would hit the thinnest part. The uncle did not believe this. However on the first shot I made the box bounce away as I hit it. The Uncle was kind of gobsmacked (maybe dad as well). I will never forget that. On a second note. Owning a gun is sadly not so easy to do legally in this country. As my father gets older I would need to jump through insane amounts of hoops to inherit his guns. At the same time the usual suspects in the suburbs use their smuggled military hardware to kill themselves and others with no action from the authorities. Including hand grenades. We live in a clown world. There is absolutely no doubt about that.
  14. Thank you for your kind suggestions. Alas, I have five tickets at Zendesk already. Four of them marked as "solved" (before the latest hotpatch) despite them not being anywhere close to solved. They have absolutely no solution to the issue at hand. The fifth ticket is yet to be responded to, but rest assured they have given me lots of nonsensical tips in their auto-generated response (no overcclock, vanilla sim et cetera). Been there, done that. Still does not work. I would say the odds of them fixing this is slim to none (seeing as CTDs seems to be quit low on those Feedback snapshots and the very vague wording from them regarding the issue). (And before any of the "l33t haxxors" bless me with their knowledge; there is nothing wrong with my computer as it functions perfectly well without issue doing everything else besides MSFS).
  15. Ah, missed that one. Sorry. 🤦‍♂️ I put my faith in the end of the month, then. Would sure be nice to use the software I paid for (deluxe whatever it was called).
  16. 35 votes on CTD issues. Oh good lord. Not holding my breath that anything gets fixed with the next patch.
  17. Well, I have already tried it in vanilla - no difference. Still crashes. But we’re straying from topic.😅
  18. They are updated. In fact, for me it was SU5 and the fixes that made the sim totally unusable. Before nuking MSFS I flew the DC and WT CJ4 exclusively.
  19. Yeah, it would be nice to be able to use the sim. It sure is nice up until the inevitable CTD. Nothing spells ”fun” as having a 4hr flight end 5NM from the arriving runway. 😂🥳
  20. Too bad I can’t use MSFS and add to the stats as it currently is unusable due to CTDs. Bet those numbers could be even higher! edit: got to love autocorrect.
  21. Sorry, I was meaning the Addon Linker! The 3rd party program.
  22. Well, I thought I was on to something when I installed the latest SDK and then enjoyed several flights without issue. Then I was back at crashing every flight. Hope your fix isn't as ephemeral as mine was. 😅
