  1. I've been using Traffic X for the past few months, but now that my FSX SSD HD decided to poop out on me, I've been looking at other options while I send it back to be replaced, and I hear a lot about My Traffic X.. however, I'm not sure which one is the version I want to buy and try out. Traffic X is decent, but support for it is nearly non-existent and there hasn't been an update for over a year so I want to try out MTX. Pretty sure I want the B. Renk version, but just want to double check with all you users out there that that is the better MT.Thanks
  2. Another thing you can look into and increasing your OC. Pay a local computer nerd to help you out with it. Bumping up an extra .5 GHz might not look like a lot, but it can help your performance out tremendously.
  3. Ahg... I've got to push my volts to 1.45 to get my OC stable. You guys are making me jealous. Thinking I'll build another couple 980x machines and put them in wideFS to get where I want to be.
  4. That's hot. I have a T260 and love it. Too bad they don't sell them in Thailand anymore cuz I'd love 1 more to wrap around and make 3 with my other 25.5" monitorI gotta wonder though, how do you get those frame rates. I can't even get 20 fps in the default 737 at KLAX or KJFK on one monitor, and my computer stats are pretty damn similar to yours (minus the two GPUs)*Sigh* Makes me wonder where I went wrong with my build.
  5. I use FSP with AirHauler. Work wonderfully together.
  6. I'm about to fire up FSX after a few months of hiatus. I was wondering what is everyone's take on this. The GTX 480 has new drivers out, but aren't supported in the latest version of nHancer, and it seems like they won't be for quite a while as the developer of nHnacer if working on things in his own life. So, are you seeing better performance with the new drivers without nHancer, or should I downgrade my drivers and stick with nHancer. I'm assuming my IQ would be a lot better with nHancer, but maybe the frame rate would work a bit smoother with newer drivers.
  7. Everytime I reinstall FSX, I have to look for this file. I vote this thread be pinned.
  8. Thanks for the tips, again. I've tried several different voltage settings and tried the above, as well. Just won't stabalize above 4.0 without a voltage over intel's max from the whitesheet.I've spent about 20+ hours toying with this, so I'm pretty positive I just got the worst chip out of the batch. I'll go see if I can exchange it, but probably can't. Just gonna sell it and buy a new one. Putting my simming on hold until then, unfortunately.Edit: Scratch that. I managed to get it stable at 1.45v at a 4.389 overclock. LLC is enabled so temps crawl high with LinPack, but shouldn't go too high under normal usage. Still a bad chip and I'll be looking for a replacement soon. I want a cherry chip next time!
  9. They're all stock except bumped vcore, bumped vtt and memory v at 1.66Other than that I leave memory at 2:10 ratio and just trying to flip around multis with blcksSo far very unsuccessful with low voltages. With 1.5v, I was seeing temps at 80C max with LinPack and about 70ish with Prime95.Just think I gotta sell this one and get a new chip.
  10. Took the sticks out, disabled HT even though I don't really want to do that...Able to drop the vcore down to 1.45v.... I really got screwed on my chip.
  11. Thanks Crash...Found the F6 on Gigabytes website and figured that was the latest bios. Twas wrong I was.I'll pull the sticks out again and see what happens (although it didn't make much of a difference in my last round)Thanks
  12. What settings do you figure I can mess around with to get my clock higher on lower volts?I hit a bclk wall at around 178 I think. Kinda bad how poorly inconsistent these $1000 chips are, aye?
  13. Same here... bad luck of the draw then. My chip was probably cut from the outer circle of the wafer. Lame sauce.Even with 1.5v going through, I don't hit 80C on stress tests. I keep the side of my case of with a fan blowing on it and air on in the room though. Thailand is just too hot. No decent water cooling setups available here, so I'd have to order from America. Venomous X is apparently one of the best air coolers though, better than the H50 or so the benchmarks say.
  14. Those settings are ridiculous man. 215 BCLK!!!?? WHAT!? And at only 1.35v. This makes me so sad.I tried 1.375v, couldn't get into windows.1.4, 1.425, 1.45, 1.475, 1.5... nothing.Where can I buy your chip at. Freakin' crazy awesome.
  15. Yup yup...I got a horrible chip. lol.I've read numerous threads with discrepancies in vcore like this. I honestly don't know where to go next with my chip. I drop the vcore down a notch and it's not stable. I drop VTT down and its not stable. Tried playing with other voltages a bit, but not too sure it had much if any effect as I can't get over 4.41 without a lot more voltage.I'll probably end up buying a cherry chip off someone and selling this one. I was really hoping for a 4.5 OC on air.
  16. AMD's are inexpensive, but looks like this chip is poor for overclocking. If you are gonna drop $300 on a chip, just get an i7 920 or 930. Especially if all you're doing is playing FSX. I've found that with my i7 980x, you don't really get too much out of it that is beneficial for FSX (except the fact that because its ony 32nm, it is much cooler which means higher clock speeds without risking burning up the chip. I've got mine at 1.51 volts and it stays under 60 C while playing FSX.I dunno. My buddy was just tellin me about horror stories he's had with the AMD chips he's owned in the past. Melted CPUs, exploding mother boards... Great if you're on a budget, but it just doesn't have the quality that an Intel chip is built with. The i7's love taking a punishing and they still keep working after hundreds of BSoDs and high volts.
  17. Alrighty, finally got the i7 980x stable at 4.41 GHz with 1.51 volts at it (very high, I know). Stress testing it with linpack puts it at 80 degrees C, but you won't really ever hit those temps under FSX. Hottest it gets with FSX is 60 - 65, which is quite a lot cooler than my i7 920 at 4.2 GHz.The chip works well, overclocking about 4.3 was really difficult. I think I got 3.8 or so on stock voltage, but to get .6 GHz more, you can see I had to bump a crap load of volts in to the thing. This is all with HT on and 12 GBs of RAM runing at 9 - 9 - 9 - 24 @around 1760 MHz.The chip is very fast. VERY FAST. And high quality. I was expecting the thing to blow up with so much juice at it, but it seems to be very stable. However, I won't be leaving the computer on 24/7 like this as I used to with my 920. Just want to be safe.Anywho, it flies in FSX very nicely. I tried with the 63 affinity mask, and I got too much stuttering. Took it out and it was gone. Frame rates are up 3 - 10 FPS in heavily dense areas which is very nice. Makes it flyable in New York with max settings and max airline traffic. I want to try overclocking my 480 to see if that might help, however, I don't think that will do much as the card loves the autogen enough and causes no slowdowns no matter what setting it's on.great chip, great GPU.
  18. You can use the FPS Limiter to get smooth gameplay out of the areas that give you high FPS (although with the BPools and Highfixme tweaks I just leave my fps unloacked and no limiter, works fine). As far as the shimmering, I'm not sure. I used a 5870 at one point, but gave up on it because it sucked handling any amount of autogen well.
  19. EDDF, with 50% airline traffic on TrafficX, at 2 AM, was pretty full, which is what I like to see. Drop it down to 25-33% I guess if you want more realistic levels, but TrafficX added a lot! I also some some military planes, which I hear UT2 doesn't have.
  20. I dunno. I was checking LAX, JFK... just not as much traffic as I like... I'm a freak about it I guess...But then again, I don't fly in the US too often. I like seeing what the lesser flown areas have to give. TrafficX does a really good job with GA traffic, filling in any small airports with parking spots.
  21. TrafficX = more traffic, more airports I believe, as well. All random schedules, but does a nice job filling any airport. Bigger frame impact, but only because...100% traffic for trafficX seems like more than double 100% for UT2. UT2 just did a poor job filling my airports. Asiann traffic was low and that is just where I enjoy flying, so for me UT2 just wasn't doing it. However, UT2 does have really nice models, but you probably won't be paying much attention anyways if you're flying a plane. Both can be used in conjunction, too. This seemed to fill airports in the US nicely with decent framerates, however I still prefer TrafficX over UT2.
  22. crashmax had great results with his 980xI'm attempting to overclock my 980x to 4.5 right... a little more difficult to OC than my 920 though. We'll see.
