  1. Even though I'd be happy with both 777-300ER and 777-200LR, the latter alone would be more than enough for me. Luckily it'll be in the base package :)
  2. This is EXCELLENT news (along with the 747v2). Now I'm looking forward upgrading my PC :)
  3. Hey guys it wouldn't kill anyone if you included the airports' names, or at least the cities where they are located ;) My favorites (I don't visit Europe too often (sim-wise that is, never been there in real life), so they might seem too obvious): LEMD - Madrid-BarajasEGLL - London HeathrowLMML - Luqa (Malta)LHBP - Liszt Ferenc Intl. (formerly Ferihegy), BudapestLIRF - Leonardo Da Vinci Intl. (Rome)
  4. Well actually I'd consider FSX a performance test rather than a stress test... For the latter there are a few applications which measure temperatures and so on... I can't tell you which since I've never overclocked :P
  5. I personally don't see a problem about installing everything after overclocking. Only difference would be things'd install faster. That is, of course, after making sure that the processor is stable with the new clock speed, though.
  6. Alright. Thank you both for your replies (and sorry for my delay). Both of you concur on the i5-2500K, which wherever I've read seems to be a very good (and the best part, relatively cheap) processor, so, so far it's the winner for me. @Prakhar, basically my PC is exclusively for MSFS, since I don't do video editing and I barely play any other games. I'd just use it for listenning to music, chatting, FSX, PES and a very few other applications which don't really require an i7, so the i5's basically the best option for me. NOW, I don't want to exclusively focus on FSX since MS Flight is coming (that's my mid-term goal), and perhaps hardware requirements would vary, but right now I'll be okay with the options you both suggested. Still, I'd like to hear opinions regarding how much would I get for my current PC; if it's worth it selling it or not! And last but not least, I've heard a lot about newegg, but to be honest I've never bought anything on the internet... Is newegg trustworthy? And also, I live in Colombia (South America), do they offer shipment to my country? Thanks again and sorry if I ask a lot of questions, just want to clear all my doubts to not screw up later!
  7. Well, since NGX was released I've mainly been flyi- oh wait, my FSX PC's been broken for nearly 2 months, #####.
  8. Hello everyone. I'm Jhon, and I'd like to ask a few questions first, then hear (read) some recommendations. Here's the deal: I have a PC but right now I can't use it due to its PSU exploding and burning the MOBO with it, and it'll become 3 years old on November 15th, so I thought about buying a new PC rather than spending (and eventually wasting) more cash on my current one. Back in 2008 when my parents bought it, I had the (at the end FAKE, lol) illusion that with this PC I could run FSX maxed out, smooth as silk. Oh dear, how wrong I was! So, here are its specs: Processor: Intel Core2Quad 6600 @ 2.4 GHzMOBO (dead by now): Intel DG31PRVideo card: ATI (MSI) Radeon HD 4870 512MB DDR5Power supply (also dead): Thermaltake 500 watts. I previously had a 600 watts OCZ StealthXStream, very good one, but also died in a shortcircuit :/Hard disk: 7200 rpm Samsung one, 500GB. Well those are the most important parts, the rest isn't worth mentioning, imo. That PC, including the pheriperials (monitor, keyboard, printer, etc.) costed 1700 dollars back then, so my first question is, and I expect answers by people with experience in the issue, how much can (and should) I expect right now if I was to sell the PC? Of course, replacing the dead MOBO and power supply beforehand. Being that said, I want to hear advising: what should I buy next? First off let me tell you that the initial budget will be around 1100 USD, and could increase depending on how much I get for my PC (if I end up selling it). I've read several "I'm-about-to-build-this" topics, but I'd like reading advising considering my particular case. Also, I'm not very up-to-date with current hardware, so perhaps any of you could help me spot new hardware or possibilities that I'd most likely totally ignore if I built the new PC by my own. I want honest advising, by experience and if possible including components' prices, so that I can get an idea of how much each part will cost. Thanks beforehand, hope my post was clear enough.
  9. Indeed. Same thing (worse) with FS9. The more intense lights are, the more "painted" the surface seems, no actual illumination effect. Although the only time I saw a real illumination effect (or at least so it seemed to me) was when I tried the PMDG 747-400 with DirectX 10 enabled, but we all know the issues with it, so it's not a reliable option. Now, regarding the NGX's lights (judging by the pictures) lights look quite real. I, along with most people who is used to FS lights and never flew in real life, was surprised when I saw a video of a real aircraft at night and noticed the light range difference.
  10. I highly doubt so. If FSX had trouble at such with default aircraft, let alone detailed add-on planes. I could be wrong though.
  11. Lol I wouldn't have thought about this kind of answer, but you did it for me :D Anyway if it was about which aircraft I'd like PMDG to build the list would be nearly infinite. Regarding myself (aside from the 737 of course) the mere fact of knowing there WILL be a triple seven by PMDG is more than enough. Just can't wait.
  12. I'd very much appreciate it if they(and guess they will) work on the 747-8 once it's fully released... After all they already did the first step by releasing its externals, didn't they? :) But hey, remember it's just 747-8, not 800. By the way, and this question goes directly to PMDG dev team, have you ever considered about building an Airbus model? I ask because even though I always preferred Boeings and barely like Airbuses, I'd never touch an Airbus in the flight sim world UNLESS it was created by PMDG.
  13. Perhaps another thing that makes the 737 look "harder" to land is the MD-11's LSAS? Just saying
  14. Forgive me if I go a little offtopic, but this is more like a reply to Marius. This might sound disappointing (it did for me when I realized it also happens with the yoke), but by reading your experience and adding mine, I find it pretty un-probable to achieve a permanent solution to the issue. I have the Saitek X52 (standard one), and I also experience the sudden jumpy axes issue. Even my joystick's vertical axis, which I used for the rudder, started randomly jumping to either side, and at first it could be "restored" by replugging the set or moving the cables, but after some time it became completely unusable - although I read somewhere it was perhaps a design problem in which the cables could be damaged and that it was solved with the X52 Pro, it also happens with nearly every other axis, so it seems there's rather a big problem with the product line (assembly perhaps). Of course, there will be lucky people who might never experience this, but well, we're not. Sad to hear it happens with the yoke though, was planning to ask one for Christmas.
  15. Hello. I'm having a small issue. Whenever I try to record a video with Fraps on the 747 (both FS9 and FSX versions), Fraps automatically increases the resolution, meaning the final video will have a big black region in the bottom. E.G.: My monitor is 19'', and I use the 1440x900 resolution, but when I record a video, Fraps changes the video's resolution to 1440x1020.I have Windows 7 x64 and the latest Fraps (3.2.3).NOTE: All of this happens when I'm in window mode (I don't really like fullscreen), and ONLY in the PMDG 747. Other planes don't show this problem.Does anyone know what causes this and is there a solution? I'd appreciate that.P.D.: I'd also appreciate if anyone at least replied something most likely useful, last time I created a topic and noone bothered saying "nah" or "fck this". It's rather frustrating.Jhon Garc
  16. Exactly as you described it. The 747-8i is just a visual / sound modification. The cockpit and all the aircraft systems are exactly the same as the 747-400, seeing as, of course, the real 747-8 hasn't been released yet. Only visible difference is the wings, engines, and the fact that the airplane is a few meters longer.About frame rate, in my case, it does improve the frames in the outside (spot) view. In the 2D/3D cockpit it's exactly the same. And well, the difference it makes in the engine sound is... Engines sound different lol, you can search on YouTube videos about the plane flying in order to hear its sound. I like this engine sound better though. That's all I remember atm, so if I missed anything others can help.
  17. Hello. I would be glad if Mac_Paint (you're the textures designer, aren't you?) created a South African Airways texture for the PMDG 747-8i. It's not -only- because of the world cup tournament, but mostly because I've always liked that texture, pretty simple and attractive, although I guess other pilots would like it because of the first mentioned event! Thanks in advance, and I'll wait for your reply / opinion :)Jhon Garc
  18. Thank you for replying, it's good to see I wasn't hallucinating ;P I agree with you, David, I have to say thanks to the one who created these fantastic liveries! By the way, I'd be really grateful if you created a South African Airways texture for the 747-8 :(
  19. Hello everyone, this is my first post. So this is what happened. Yesterday I downloaded 3 of the textures marked as "NEW" (Air New Zealand, Japan Airlines and Singapore Airlines), and I, along with a friend of mine, had trouble with 2 of them (I don't know if someone else here experienced the same thing as well nor do I know if this also happens with the other new liveries, since I only tried these 3). In the Air New Zealand one's case, I noticed that the installer does create the texture.NZ8i folder in SimObjects etc., but, in the aircraft.cfg it creates a new entry as if it was a QANTAS texture, so, since I already had the QANTAS one installed, it created a duplicated entry and threw me an error when opening FSX, so unless you modify the value in the .cfg, you'll either have a duplicated entry or just not see the ANZ texture. Now, with the Japan Airlines one, there was a smaller problem, but yet again making it impossible to use without modifying the aircraft.cfg: In the line "texture=" it shows JL81, while the folder is called JL8i; a really insignificant typo, but if you don't know how to figure it you'll never see the texture. I think there was a mistake when compiling the installers maybe? Hope anyone can give me a hand about this! It's not like I'm gonna die because of the small errors, but it can help people who don't know about it and are wondering where the textures are! Thanks, Jhon Garc
