    De-Ice

Assuming you ment anti icing, and icing conditions, again I beg to differ, I have pictures of a common occurance of our airliners picking up 3-4 inches on everysingle leading edge of the aircraft of impact ice during decent in the winter months. Icing is very common in certain parts of the world, even for the highflying fast people movers.
  3. Is it worth it to utilize a HDMI? been thinking about picking one up for the PC, to add to my collection of about 10 others in my house for TVs etc etcim using a 32' 1920x1200
  4. PMDG leads the way in customer service in our hobby IMHO, no need to worry. Things dont always happen in realtime, but I bet your issue gets resolved in a amazingly timely fashion. You will feel very differently about this situation soon, provided you yourself follow the proper steps to make your issue known.
  5. Gents, I have to say I’m surprised at the number of people who have no interest in the 700s, perhaps its because I work with a mostly 700 operator (We have 600s, and the 800) but the 700 is defiantly the work horse of the fleet. And the most common NG we see up here in Canada. The NG design is based off the 700 size, and was first to roll out of the assembly line, its most proportionate to the size of a aircraft that it is. The 800 is a stretch of the original design, and while having a greater payload, it comes with reduced range. Any thoughts as to why the seemingly low lack of interest? Other then the obvious gap in sales between the 700 at 1411 vs. the 800 at 3769. Am I the weird one that will enjoy the 700 more then the 800?
  6. No kidding, I'll be logging several 1000 hours on it based on how much I flew the old NG for FS9 before I retired it. Well said! Although I still think PMDG will be making good cash off this one.
  7. Still waiting for your full name in your signature........
  8. Perhaps when you have more then 2 topics, and 9 posts you might have more throw around here....For starters, PLEASE SIGN YOUR FULL NAME AS PER FORUM RULES.Glad you decided to join right on the cusp of the NGX launch, Mean while the people with the signatures that seem to bug you so much, actually have something to contribute here and have done so for years. Dont feed the troll, this thread needs a delete right quick. Hows that for wasting server space, or better yet, electricity lol (that one made me laugh) Another 20 seconds of my life I'll never get back, thanks for that.
  9. Installed EMB, FSX crashed within 30secs I have a multi monitor setup which may be the cause.
  10. My build is a week old, running highmem, and the FPS_Limiter 0.2, Im going to give the ENB a go tonight, I suspect I should be trouble free based on what i have read here, and else where. I will post my results for those interested. Is there another limiter named antilag FPS limiter that I should be using instead?
  11. Incoming PM, the FPS_limiter is key... dont give up edit ( for those who are interested )You will need to rename .rar to .zip to open it, or download shareware winrar. You will also need the Java applet enabled on your machine/browser.From there, expand the .rar file into a folder, and click on the .jar file. This generates the GUI interface you see above. From there, just navigate to FSX.exe and the GUI will create a batch file to run FPS_Limiter and autoexecute FSX.exe. From there, you're good to go!
  12. Rick, Rainbow Lake huh? Very cool I love that areaThis is single handedly the most important step in getting FSX where you want it to be, it takes all the guess work out of tweaking for FSX.CFG for your setup. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html Run that, save your .cfg. then google search FPS_Limiter 0.2 and set the FSX internal to uniimited, and set the FPS limiter program in the 25-40ish area (mines at 40) . Make sure all your sliders in the FSX menus are all the way right. Only thing left to do is make sure you edit the LOD_RADIUS from 4.5 to what ever you feel is confortable (This reduces blurry scenery textures, I have mine set at 8.0 with a GTX550Ti and works great with sceneries such as ORBX). This will always change back to 4.5 anytime you go into display options within the sim, so make sure everything is all the way right before editing LOD_RADIUS.Overclocking will take less of a priority once this is done with your system :) Enjoy
  13. I have a week old build of the same PC, Running ORBX, REX, ******* .cfg tweaks with a external FPS limiter, I have yet to be able to bog this thing down, Its only been a week, but havent felt the need to overclock this one like i did with my I7950. More then impressed with its stock performance.
  14. Quite the opposite to be honest. Mountains are west of YYC, YYZ being east. Nothing but flat open prairie for two hours, followed by lots of lakes for a hour. on a YYC-YYZ flight.
  15. Is this what music has come too?
  16. No doubt, how many are really going to see the price, and say "After waiting impaitently for 3 years, thats too much, no deal"
  17. Seems to me, that he's just getting suckered in to the niche FS hobby in the to the extent most here have been for years. And yes to truly enjoy it you need a good PC. My only advice for a limited budget is to build it slowly. Find out what PC you would want. And plan to buy it piece by piece at a pace thats finacially realistic to you. I did so on my last build, got the processor from ebay, waited a few weeks, got the MOBO, waited a little longer got ram and the case. Then took my PSU from my last PC and built it myself (my first PC build, its simple, impossible to mess up and cost effective) .
  18. I would say your long overdue for a upgrade. I had the same system years back, and have built and retired 4 others since. Concidering that your planning on spending the money to enjoy the NGX, why not have a pc so you can enjoy the sim itsself along with the standard addons such as ORBX and REX. Im not even sure if you can even buy just 768MB or RAM anymore. I'd love to know if you do indeed get it to run okay with that system.
  19. Thanks, with that information my work day is going to drag and drag and drag on :)
  20. WestJet Boeing Delivery flightWJA8950 KBFI-CYYC, and hopefully I'll be doing it in a -700 :)
  21. Thats a shame, as the FPS limiter is a must for me (Can't stand poping or stuttering) as well as the HIGHMEMFIX. I'll try experimenting with it though once I get home from work in 12 hours.
  22. Any negitives? Ive been concidering giving this a go for about a year now, and now that I ditched my old 8800GTS for a GTX550ti, I'm wondering if this is really a must have?
  23. Great story, thanks for sharing :)In my experience its hit and miss, some are very accomidating and still enjoy flying for how cool it really is. Others just go through the motions of a daily job they no longer enjoy.
  24. Condolences to the family and to all affected. Road rage is never an accident, I hope the suspect or suspects involved are charged accordingly in good time. Using 5500lb chunks of steel to vent frustrations of grown adults has always and will continue to be unacceptable. My thoughts are with his family. :(
