vas information addon scenery
No one has missed it, i guess, with the PMDG 777, vas-usage has become a big deal. If I am not mistaken any addon scenery, for example an aerosoft addon airport, has a fixed toll on vas-usage. Flying from aerosofts EDDF to UK2000 Heatrow X I painfully became aware of that!! ....woops, FSX says OOM. So, would it not be essential if developers not only talk about impact on framerates, but also the vas-usage of their product? It is a constant value you could keep in mind, if you decide to use one of them. I think addon developers should give this information, not just about fantastic framerates! Perhaps this is in the wrong forum, i leave that to the moderators.... Happy flying, Ton van Dongen

Prepar3d v2 = beta
I have followed the avsim forums and the official prepar3d forum for a week now. Conclusion: prepar3d v2 is still in beta-stage, just like in the beginning fsx and pmdg 737ngx and 777 where in beta. (pmdg777 still is) That's the way it has to be, the more people use it, the more the bugs and flaws will come to the surface. It's a mather of time, probably 6 months or longer before most of the problems are solved. Those who use Prepar3D v2 right now are in fact still beta-testers. It's still :angry:and :unsure:and :angry:and :wub:and sleepless nights! :( I decided to stay with FSX for at least 6 months untill you guys have it all sorted out :lol: Then, thanks to you all, I will make the switch, I suppose eventually most of us will. Back to reality
Like I said in another post, some don't seam to realise, that we are still in beta-fase! It's for those who already use prepar3d v2, to give the development team the information they need to make improvements and find the flaws and bugs. You are all "pioniers" on a discovery tour. It's the same journey as we had with fsx and pmdg. I stay with fsx for a while yet, at least for 6 months, untill most problems are solved. Meanwhile I would like to express my gratitude to all those of you who are doing this for me TvD

The thing with P3D2 and OOMs is .......
Let's just be realistic, we are still in beta-fase, and all users of prepar3d v2 are still beta-testers. It happened with fsx, pmdg737,777, prepar3d v1.4. It's in this fase that more and more people are using it, so the development team gets more and more data. It will take at least 6 months before the major parts of the bugs and faults are repaired. How often do you fly default planes?
Since the PMDG 737 NGX i haven't flown the default 737 anymore. A while back I decided to give it a try again, just for fun. After 5 minutes I canceled the flight, and promissed myself not to do that ever again!!! greetings, Ton.

heading indicator always vissible?
Something i would like on the ND display in the NGX and T7,is to keep the heading indicator always vissible. Now it dissapears after a few seconds. There is no option for that in the fmc menu, is there another way to do this? TvD

The T7 is fantastic, but.....
same for me, The T7 is a great airplane but i think it's a special favorite for those who like long haul flights. With the NGX i think PMDG will never be able to develope another airplane outbeating this one, it's simply to good! TvD

pmdg 737 fmc on 7 inch tablet?
More and more people are using an ipad or android tablet for fmc input. My question is if a 7 inch tablet is to small for that purpose, should it have to be at least 10 inch? Anyone using it? Greetings, Ton v. Dongen

Angle of Attack (AoA) Announces T7 Training
When AoA announced the 737 training package, it was presented as a package that would come out in a few months. I paid for 737 flightwork two years ago,and i am still waiting. Tell me, who waits two years for a product, profesional or not, already paying for it, while the last message about flightworks dated jan. 2012. And now you are kindly asked to order some 777 package!! I cannot believe this.......!!!!

Very curious about this... If I would change to windows 8 desktop with a touchscreen monitor, would that mean i can use the monitor to control the vc cockpit buttons, without using a mouse, you know, like an Ipad, so not only the fmc but every button where you use the mouse? Ton

Best Airliners
Now that everybody is learning the skills of flying the best addon for fsx ever made (untill now) , I would like to know what you people consider to be the best airliner to fly for, considering service for passengers and working conditions for their crew. From all the repaints,for example, I never chose the easyjet or westjet because, if looking at reality series on tv. they seem to tread their passengers like cattle, and the flight crew has to work on extreme working conditions, and more and more airliners seem to lose the ballance between cost aspects and "humanity" So, what airliner would you be proud to fly for, are there any airliners who keep their service for passengers and crew at the highest level possible? greetings, Ton v. Switching views+FSX freezing
I already have the uiautomationcore.dll fix and also the g3d.dll fix from pete dawson's fsuipc. The config.utility from venetubo gives mixed results,a specialy the bufferpools section, some people benefit, others don't. But i will keep on testing, thanks for the replies. Ton v. Dongen

Switching views+FSX freezing
I know this is a topic that is going on for a long time now, in fsx, pmdg 737ngx and hardware forums. I just wanted to know if there are any users, who have been able to setup the hardware and software in such a way, that they can switch from vc cockpit to external views as often as they want, without getting a fsx freeze or ctd. I am getting very reasonable results now with my setup, but I have to be very careful not to overdue with different views. I am using ezdok without TrackIR, but changing views more then a few times always results in fsx freezing, after a few minutes. The only hardware a bit outdated is my videocard, MSI 460GTX Hawk 1Gb GDDR5 Ram. The rest is average, I7-2600K 4300Mhz, G-Skill 8Gb 8-8-8-24 on Asus P8Z68-V mb. Ton v Dongen

from pmdg 737ngx back to fsx default 737...
Like for most of you, I guess, for me the first flights in the ngx were not the easiest. More complicated, programming the fmc, flight characteristics, etc. it was a sleep learning curve. But yesterday I tried the fsx default 737 on a short flight, just for fun, just to get the old feeling back. Well, that was once and never again!!! Like switching from a Rolls Royce to a Citroen 2cv. Using the Garmin500..how? VC cockpit... pre WWII, flying FL340...in your dreams. Halfway a flight from Frankfurt to London I quited, no fun, no joy, nothing. My conclusion: Flying the pmdg 737ngx is, in every aspect, fun, realistic, and, after some learning, a lot easier to fly then the stock 737. That's all I wanted to say, bye bye. Ton v.Dongen

head movements ezdok
Not a big deal, i just noticed that there is quit a difference between the headmovements from the pilot and copilot using the same effects with ezdok. The copilot's head shakes a lot more then the pilot if i switch views. anybody knows why? greetings, Ton v.Dongen

fsx stopped working
Hello again Jim, I have all sp including sp1c installed, 2x a clean install of fsx +all addons, i deleted the fsx.cfg file a few times so everything including the trusted software was installed from scratch again. And everything installes fine, but still it is not all stabil yet. I noticed one other thing, if i close fsx after ending a flight i have to click the "red cross" twice, the first time nothing happens. It's all not dramatic, flying the pmdg through the clouds ( REX is beautiful ) is fantastic, flying the 737 through strong crosswinds is challenging but great fun. I think that a next servicepack will smoothen things a little bit more. Until then i keep on flying, greeting everybody on the ground . Happy flying, Ton .

fsx stopped working
Thanks for your reply,Jim I haven't any FTX scenery, it's just that i recall the problems with the installation of the pmdg 737ngx ("first edition") especialy the pmdg trusted software dll's, fsx couldn't load. It's as if fsx or windows 7 still has troubles in starting and closing these applications. The event log is different, one time it's the g3d.dll, then the rex weatherengine, then ultimate traffic or fsx.exe BTW, i still feel sometimes with the pmdg 737ngx that i have to walk on eggs. Al, thanks for the comment but still a few questions, When i installed radarcontact v4 I only saw the small red text box giving most information but for example not the squake code (sorry i said squake box) In fsuipc 4.80 i set multiline settings checked in, single line setting checked out, but i have never seen a scrolling text window. In the old version of radarcontact this was i believe the advdisp. So am i missing some setting or should i install something extra?

Since my youth I have a serious loss of hearing. My hearing aid gives me a lot of help, but it has it's restrictions. Ever since I have become an fsx enthousiastic, especialy with the pmdg 737ngx, i have been looking for a way to replace the fsx atc (wat a dragon). Online atc{Vatsim}, is not an option, but also radarcontact is difficult because you still have to set squake box and other things. Fs2crew buttton edition is a copilot assistance, and not a replacement for atc. With the knowledge, that there must be more pilots with the same handicap, (we all get older), I just would wonder if a program like radarcontact could be developed with the same interface as fsx atc, It's about the only good thing about it, because everything you have to do (nav.settings, squakebox, comm.settings, altitude, heading etc). is displayed. Perhaps a good idea for a poll to see how many people are having these troubles, not to forget the people who don't speak english, but who can read the settings in the display. fsx stopped working
Sometimes, not always, after i close a successfull flight, with pmdg 737ngx and close fsx, I get the message that fsx stopped working and asks if i want to restart the programm. Not a big problem but anoying, and i wonder why. I have Windows 7 64bit os, fsx+accel.+REX2 od+ultimate traffic 2+ultimate terrain+GEX+ezcam 1.7. on a i7 2600k 4400mhz with gtx460 from msi, most high settings. It works most time like a charme, but i have a question about the trusted software section in the fsx.cfg file. Is it of importance, in witch sequence this section is organized, for example the pmdg.dll's first, then rex weatherengine, then ultimate traffic, then ezcam or does that make no difference at all. I get the feeling as if windows 7 has troubles with closing fsx software applications or something like that. Sorry for my poor dutch english. greatings, Ton van Dongen

Tutorials flights for PMDG 737
I am using stock atc as well, bad hearing so online atc is not for me. one tip: watch the descent point on the ND, and ask atc a decrease descent before you reach that point, say you are on FL320, ask a 10.000 feet decrease. Don't wait until atc tells you to descent, because from that point on you are "stuck" with their commands, and they often are far to late with their descent path. happy flying, Ton v Dongen.
