  1. Gents- I would like to take a moment to personally extend my gratitude to all of you who participated in our Triple Ripple event. Each of you played a critical role in making this the best event in the history of FedEx Virtual Air Cargo. And on top of that, I'm sure anyone who saw us on VATSIM will have that in their memory for a long time. I would also like to applaud the efforts of all those who were online as controllers. I was impressed at the handling of traffic at all four locations and in between... Even at the places where the controller was overwhelmed, they handled it better than I would have expected. They did what they were capable of with what they had, and I could not have asked for a more successfully event because of theirs and your combined efforts. I will be separately addressing the ARTCCs/FIRs and supporters via email later today. Prize Winners The prizes were drawn this morning by myself with one person overseeing the process who did not want to be in the drawing. Each prize was listed out in a program, shuffled, and then assigned a number. Therefore we have nine prizes that were numbered from 1-9. Next, all participant's names were entered into the program, shuffled multiple times, and then, in the same manner, nine people were drawn. Next, those nine people were shuffled and then assigned a number, ending up with nine people assigned a number from 1-9. In the end, the person who's number matched a prize number gets the prize. The list of these winners is below, and each winner will be contacted within 48 hours for details on the prize. If, after contacting the person, we do not hear back in a reasonable amount of time, we will re-draw from the entire list for a new recipient. All winners were checked for VATSIM participation and did complete the flight as booked. Alex Daniel won the copy of Aerosoft's BIKF Keflavik Intl Kacper Nowotynski won a copy/refund/giftable PMDG 777 Han Cui won a Blueprint Scenery of choice, excluding KJFK Yue Han won a Blueprint Scenery of choice, excluding KJFK Richard Baltero won a copy/refund/giftable PMDG 777 Bernardo Reis won the copy of PFPX Flight Planner Martin Martinov won the copy of the Aivlasoft EFB Dennis Korthals won a Blueprint Scenery of choice, excluding KJFK Patrick Trostmann won the A2A Simulation Cessna 172 Accusim Trainer Again, each person will be contacted in a short period of time, and if there is no response or the individual wishes to pass the prize, we will redraw from the entire list. On behalf of the entire staff here at FedEx Virtual Air Cargo, I would like to thank you again for participating. We hope to see you next time around, possibly around Christmas time or the beginning of next year.
  2. This is the thing we didn't have enough time to get going. If the event would have been about two weeks later I would have had a dedicated teampeak server for the event. But ah well lol
  3. Haha I figured! I'll be on Twitch chat for any questions, comments, or discussions people may have.
  4. I'll be livestreaming it. Feel honored to stream with THE CEO of FedExVAC. http://twitch.tv/fdx016
  5. You are allowed 30 minute of away-from-cockpit time per VATSIM CoC. Oceanic has potential to be online but no guarantee.
  6. That is the ideal flightplan for our event. It is not mandatory, but preferred.
  7. Yessir they will be. I'm actually the Webmaster/IT for vZME and we have some people rounded up for some nice, early-morning southern hospitality.
  8. Thanks for pointing that out. ISL is a typo- It should be LVA. Just a note for everyone- I will be sending out an email to all who are booked in a few hours with flight details, suggestions, and any tidying up things such as route adjustments. PLEASE check your email before you fly if you do not get one before going to bed tonight!
  9. We will send out some sort of loadsheet the day before the event for anyone who would like to see how much cargo they can carry. Joaquin, If you would like to send us the route to suggest to everyone who is booked, I can give you an email to send it to. We'll be mass mailing everyone who booked the day before with a ton of information about the event and anything that makes it easier would be great!
  10. This has actually been changed. H/ now assumes TCAS. B/ is no longer in use. EDIT: Oops, see that it's already been said.
  11. I agree with this as well. Both are top of the line for each airplane simulation However, I do think the 777 took it a notch higher. Even today on my 10th flight I caught myself pressing the square buttons in and out, giving the poor beacon light a run for it's money as I gazed at the little mechanical switch mechanism working. And, as others have said, the sounds are superb. I have yet to hear a better sound package on a simulated airplane. Also, for the user asking about the graphics card- I have a Superclocked GTX650 1GB with an i5 2500K @ 4.2Gz and I get a steady 30 in nearly all situations so far.

    777 freezing

I've only had one freeze with her so far that I attribute to the airplane and that was when I flew from St. John's to Keflavik. I was too high on the approach and pressed TOGA. I literally heard the button click and it was like insta-freeze. Had to close the sim, it never came back unfortunately.
  13. If you hit the details button next to your slot, you can cancel and re-add your booking with the correct details.
  14. An small update for everyone- We will be sending a mass email to all those booked on Thursday night or Friday morning with any last minute changes to routing, updated resources for charts and procedures, last minute comments from the controlling FIR/ARTCCs and anything else that will be beneficial for you to know about our event in order to make it run as smooth as possible. We're getting extremely excited!!!
  15. I'd love to have a place where we could enter a payload number and it would distribute the cargo as required just like it does with the fuel. That would be perfect!
  16. In our case (the OP's case), a couple of us chipped in and gave it as a gift to one of my Executive Staff who couldn't pay the price for the 777. He has done a heck of a lot for us and we wanted to thank him... This was the coolest way we could come up with. Especially with him listening to about 9 of us talking about flying it every night on our teamspeak. So there are cases where it does work
  17. I've had a freeze once that I know of. It was where every screen in the cockpit plus the clock froze. I remember because I started the elapsed time when I taxied onto the runway and I was climbing. I got to about 22 minutes ET and I got up to get a drink. I came back about 10 minutes later and it still said 22 minutes ET and the Zulu time hadn't changed. That's when I realized every screen was froze. It took a handful of clicks in the FMC before every screen (including the FMC) snapped back to where they should be.
  18. I know, isn't that awesome! Truly a unique experience! Say what?

    Long Haul Tutorial

I had a good chuckle with this! :He He:
  20. All welcome!! Haha glad to have you on the event with us Daniel. Glad to have a native aboard!
  21. Captains, if you have any questions or concerns about the event, please let me know and I'll be happy to help to the best of my ability. We will be emailing everyone that has booked the day before the event with last minute information for your reference and to make the event run as smooth as possible. I look forward to seeing more bookings!!
  22. The event text below contains updated information, primarily in the prizes section. PLEASE READ THE FULL TEXT of the description and prizes sections! Event Description To celebrate the release of the PMDG 777, FedEx Virtual Air Cargo is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring a community wide VATSIM group flight! Our group flight will take place on Saturday, September 14th, where we will depart KMEM (Memphis Intl) between 0900Z and 1400Z and arrive at OMDB, Dubai, between 2200Z and 0300Z thirteen to fourteen hours later. This is to mimic the real-world FDX8 flight, where they use the 777. We will also be offering supplementary flights for those who are less hardcore long-haul pilots. We will offer a departure from BIKF (Keflavik, Iceland) between 1530Z and 1800Z (Estimated 8-8.5 hours flight time) as well as a departure from LGAV (Athens, Greece) between 1930Z and 2200Z. (Estimated 4-4.5 hours flight time) Both of these supplementary flights are timed so that they will join the main flight from Memphis, and the whole group will come together at OMDB around the same time. We’ll give the controllers a run for their money at all four airports! Plan on being fully staffed at least for the local areas around each airport. We have notified every ARTCC and FIR along the route, and we hope to get some sort of controller support during the entire duration of the flight. We have notified every ARTCC and FIR along the route, and we hope to get some sort of controller support during the entire duration of the flight. We also will have Ramp Control at KMEM for all departures as long as they leave from the North FedEx Ramp. Coordination is KEY to making this a success and we have put through the hardest effort to make sure this goes off without a hitch. We will also be entering participants for prizes of cash value as long as they fly (and complete!) the flight on VATSIM and book the flight using our booking system. This system is located at http://events.fedexvac.org where there are around 200 slots to book. We are initially offering 100 slots from KMEM, 50 from BIKF, and 50 from LGAV. PLEASE CHECK to make sure your desired callsign is not already taken! These should make the event available to almost anyone who wants to fly, no matter where and what time zone they live. We are hoping this fills up! Final Note: PLEASE KNOW YOUR AIRPLANE. We DO NOT want to aggravate the controllers or make it any more of a task to control the large number of aircraft expected to participate in this event with people who do not know how to operate their aircraft. This is why we gave a period of time between release and event- to let everyone get familiar with their new baby! EVENT PRIZES: Two (2) License Keys for the PMDG 777. (READ INFO BELOW) Three (3) BluePrint Simulation Sceneries (Except KJFK) One (1) Aerosoft BIKF Keflavik Intl One (1) Aivlasoft EFB License Key One (1) Copy of PFPX Flight Planning Software* One (1) Copy of A2A Simulations Cessna 172 Trainer With our friends at PMDG now directly supporting our event, we have received a donation of two licenses for the PMDG 777. We will be choosing two grand prize winners to receive one of these licenses. What's that you say? You already own this fine bird? Well fear not! Current 777 owners will have two other options. You can either receive a refund for the purchase price of the 777, or gift a license to a fellow flight sim enthusiast in need. Even if you already have it, you can still benefit! *Thanks to Carl, our Western Regional Manager, for donating a copy of PFPX for this event.
