  1. Virtualua.org is turning 5 on March 24th! We are having a special event that is sponsored by: Aerosoft, Imaginesim and Flightbeam! We will be giving away 5 PRIZES from the sponsors! To participate in the sponsor giveaway please join virtualua.org Here is the event information: On April 8th, from 2359z – 0400z, join us on VATSIM, as we all fly back to our beginning, at Chicago O’Hare Intl Airport (KORD). You can fly from anywhere, as long as the destination is KORD. CAT free, no route restrictions, just fly from any of our serviced airports to KORD. We want to crowd the KORD United ramp up! We will award 5 prizes from our wonderful sponsors and donors to 5 lucky pilots who arrive during the event. We will also offer dispatch services on our TeamSpeak server, from 1400z- 0400z for added realism. Sign-ups will be available on our website soon!
  2. Hi Gents, Hope you'all are having an excellent summer / winter - "Highmike" . Well, it comes around about this time of year that worlds busiest airport gets changed from ? to my little neighborhood - Oshkosh (KOSH) & the EAA convention. The past few years our 'ol competitor, FS-MP, has hosted a fly-in using the published VFR procedures to get there. Do you all want to get on MP at one time for one, or more, short VFR flights from ? to EAA? (60- 100 nm --> KOSH) Get together, and, try to get the controllers flustered? Kiddin - the more the merrier! FS-MP is quite a bit different than our race style setup - No TS & No FSHost, it uses the internal FSX MP system, quite well at that. There are quite a bit of some rules, some of which are - - No fast movers. (not sure how that works, military jets?) - Proper frequency tuned in cockpit for comm. - No chat while on freq. -The approaches to KOSH are fixed from FSMP for this event. I hope it is up to the controllers discretion for alternates. ( IE 36R, Warbird Is. 27/36(L/R), Short 27 from FISKE, 18 from the gravel pit, etc.. ) The official NOTAM is here - http://www.airventure.org/flying/2013_notam.pdf And of course, the event site - http://www.fs-mp.com/ I'm thinking ,,,,, A slew of Connies, haven't tested for MP problems, to Warbird Is. (WARBD) for a 36 or 27, then do it again in your own ship. ( Vintage, Homebuilt, Warbird, etc.. ) Discuss. Again I hope you are all having an excellent "yellow flag" :-) Roman P.S. - I just reinstalled Flight Simulator 2002 and it is better than it ever was.
  3. It is told that the Sarajevo'84 Winter Olympics were the best organized games in history. We younger generations only know it was the best Sarajevo rush in history! And from now, the rush will each year be RE-WINDED! 4. Greetings! On behalf of FedEx Virtual Air Cargo, I would like to happily announce our yearly, community-wide VATSIM event. Last year, we hosted the PMDG 777 release celebration, dubbed “The Triple Ripple”. That event was a huge success and we hope to achieve even more with our event this year. We host these events because you, the great Flight Simulator community, allow us to exist and be as successful as we are and we like to give back a little bit of fun here and there. But let’s cut to the chase! This year’s event has been named The Long Haul Luau and will be held annually. Just as last year, we will have a booking system to keep track of participants. Information for booking and charts are further down in this document. Event details are as follows: When: Saturday, July 26th (USA time) The Objective: Fly from one of four designated departure airports during the time you have booked to end up at PHNL Honolulu in the given time window. The Options: Departure airports, estimated times en route (ETE), and departure times in ZULU- Departure Airport Time en Route Departure Times KOAK - Oakland 4:30 – 5:00 ETE Starting @ 2100Z PANC - Anchorage 5:30 – 6:00 ETE Starting @ 2000Z RJAA – Tokyo Narita 6:30 – 7:00 ETE Starting @ 2000Z YSSY – Sydney 8:30 – 9:00 ETE Starting @ 1900Z The Arrival: The arrival window will be between 0100Z and 0500Z. (SUNDAY ZULU time which would be SATURDAY evening in the USA) What to fly: Whatever you want! This year’s event isn’t directed toward a certain aircraft, so let’s see what you’ve got! The Prizes: Prizes are still being collected. We will update the main booking page with prizes as we get them. All participants will be entered into a random drawing for each prize. You must book a slot and fly the flight to be counted in the drawing! Important Notes PLEASE be confident in a high traffic environment for this event. We do anticipate a busy airspace at each of the departure airports and most importantly at Honolulu where everyone will converge. Patience is key here, and we ask that you have current charts onboard (attached below), be aware of procedures for each area, and bear with the controllers. They will most likely get very busy! But also, remember to have fun and let’s test their skills! BOOKING Flight bookings can be made by following the link below. Please book only once, and if you have issues with your booking, contact crm@fedexvac.org with your name and description of your problem. Slots will be added as necessary if airports fill up. 5. The event text below contains updated information, primarily in the prizes section. PLEASE READ THE FULL TEXT of the description and prizes sections! Event Description To celebrate the release of the PMDG 777, FedEx Virtual Air Cargo is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring a community wide VATSIM group flight! Our group flight will take place on Saturday, September 14th, where we will depart KMEM (Memphis Intl) between 0900Z and 1400Z and arrive at OMDB, Dubai, between 2200Z and 0300Z thirteen to fourteen hours later. This is to mimic the real-world FDX8 flight, where they use the 777. We will also be offering supplementary flights for those who are less hardcore long-haul pilots. We will offer a departure from BIKF (Keflavik, Iceland) between 1530Z and 1800Z (Estimated 8-8.5 hours flight time) as well as a departure from LGAV (Athens, Greece) between 1930Z and 2200Z. (Estimated 4-4.5 hours flight time) Both of these supplementary flights are timed so that they will join the main flight from Memphis, and the whole group will come together at OMDB around the same time. We’ll give the controllers a run for their money at all four airports! Plan on being fully staffed at least for the local areas around each airport. We have notified every ARTCC and FIR along the route, and we hope to get some sort of controller support during the entire duration of the flight. We have notified every ARTCC and FIR along the route, and we hope to get some sort of controller support during the entire duration of the flight. We also will have Ramp Control at KMEM for all departures as long as they leave from the North FedEx Ramp. Coordination is KEY to making this a success and we have put through the hardest effort to make sure this goes off without a hitch. We will also be entering participants for prizes of cash value as long as they fly (and complete!) the flight on VATSIM and book the flight using our booking system. This system is located at http://events.fedexvac.org where there are around 200 slots to book. We are initially offering 100 slots from KMEM, 50 from BIKF, and 50 from LGAV. PLEASE CHECK to make sure your desired callsign is not already taken! These should make the event available to almost anyone who wants to fly, no matter where and what time zone they live. We are hoping this fills up! Final Note: PLEASE KNOW YOUR AIRPLANE. We DO NOT want to aggravate the controllers or make it any more of a task to control the large number of aircraft expected to participate in this event with people who do not know how to operate their aircraft. This is why we gave a period of time between release and event- to let everyone get familiar with their new baby! EVENT PRIZES: Two (2) License Keys for the PMDG 777. (READ INFO BELOW) Three (3) BluePrint Simulation Sceneries (Except KJFK) One (1) Aerosoft BIKF Keflavik Intl One (1) Aivlasoft EFB License Key One (1) Copy of PFPX Flight Planning Software* One (1) Copy of A2A Simulations Cessna 172 Trainer With our friends at PMDG now directly supporting our event, we have received a donation of two licenses for the PMDG 777. We will be choosing two grand prize winners to receive one of these licenses. What's that you say? You already own this fine bird? Well fear not! Current 777 owners will have two other options. You can either receive a refund for the purchase price of the 777, or gift a license to a fellow flight sim enthusiast in need. Even if you already have it, you can still benefit! *Thanks to Carl, our Western Regional Manager, for donating a copy of PFPX for this event. 9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQS8-MNWAdw With more than nine-teen thousand operations and more than forty million people yearly it is no surprise that Phoenix Sky Harbor is the ninth busiest airport in the US and twenty third busiest in the world. Harsh monsoons can plague Phoenix from July to September and raging sand storms bring all air traffic to an abrupt and grinding halt. With these hazardous weather conditions and the amount of traffic that Phoenix receives daily it is not surprising that Phoenix gets overloaded. The Phoenix Tracon and Local control are ready for the onslaught of traffic. So...are you up to the task of overloading? Join the Albuquerque ARTCC December 1st from 7EST-11EST (2359Z-0400Z) to see if you have what is takes to overload Phoenix. Please read over the pilot briefing to be familiar with Phoenix procedures and what you can expect from the controllers and what the controllers expect from you: http://zabartcc.org/....lot Brief.pdf" Terminal Charts: http://www.airnav.co...m/airport/KPHX" Enroute Charts: http://skyvector.com/" Will you be there?

  11. Dear AVSIM Flight Community, It has been a while since I last posted here on AVSIM, but I thought that it would be important to inform the Flight community here about my upcoming flight events. I am a member of the msFlights.net community, and I have a group flight event every Friday from 7:00 PM EST (UTC -5:00) to 9:00 PM EST (UTC -5:00). Starting tonight my flights are going to be strictly in Microsoft Flight until the multiplayer capabilities of the game are shutdown. The flight plans are going to take us to all of those iconic Flight locations. We are going to relive Microsoft Flight one last time, and I want Microsoft to be able to notice the sudden spike in server traffic. I want to fill sessions(emphasis on plural) with these flights. We are still here, and we still love flying in Microsoft Flight. I hope to see EVERYONE participating in these events. This isn't about trying to save the game, this is about unifying the Flight community and celebrating all of the amazing times that we have had flying with each other in Microsoft Flight. So let's keep Flight alive! Sincerely, DeathseekerDXC FOR MORE INFORMATION: CLICK HERE Information regarding these flights will be posted on msflights.net in the events section. Look for upcoming events with the name "Wonders of the World" or "FIGHT for FLIGHT!" If there is not going to be a flight you will see "FLIGHT POSTPONED" in the normal time slot. Volunteering to host and orchestrate overflow sessions will be greatly appreciated!

  13. Hi to all I would like to share how I solved a Local profile loading error/problem Last night I shut-down my computer normally I turned up and logged-in with my usual profile today, and then a black-colored desktop appeared with very few icons and a 'bubble' message saying that Windows could not load the profile, and a temporary instead had been loaded. :( Logged in with an alternate profile (good to have at least two) checked Windows logs and discovered some Event IDs 1505 and 1530. "Goggling" around for Event ID 1530 didn't have much success, looking for Event ID 1505, I came across the following MS KB: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947215 I followed Method 1 step-by-step and my problem was solved !!! Last summer, exactly the same problem, forced me to restore and reinstall my FSX add-ons one-by-one - a nearly 2 month labor. (image was FSX SP2 only) I hope you found this post useful. Kind regards
