  1. You might need to be more specific than that. As people have already pointed out, yes it is variable, but it's specific to the aircraft operating. There's no single CI used for all flights operated by a given airline, unless of course all the aircraft they own are the same type. These are the most up to date CI figures for Emirates. I randomly pulled up some flight plans today and copied the figures straight off. EMIRATES: A330-200: CID 26 B777-300/ER: CID 35-37 A380-861: CID 60 B777-200LR: CID 35-37
  2. Can't say I've experienced this before Peter. If anything, my flight simulator performs better after a reboot. Are you running a 64bit version of Windows on your system? Edit: Now I think about it, I have experienced this before but not since my system upgrade. I believe its associated, but not limited to memory caching, which is a fair call seeing as FSX depends heavily on memory and CPU resources to deliver performance. So, when you load the first flight, you have partly cache data files (incl. scenery, aircraft, etc). A portion of the data stays cached. On your second session, there's less stress on the system to retrieve data since a lot of its already cached, and so you have smoother flight. You're running a solid system there, so I'd have to assume you're running FSX on a fairly cluttered hard drive, or with a pile of things running in the background. I think you'll find if you end all non-essential processes through task manager and use something like PerfectDisk to defrag your hard drive, it will happen to a lesser extent. And running on a 64bit system will also make a huge difference if you aren't.
  3. I recommend having a look at the bufferpool/poolsize tweak for fsx. From my experiences, it has a huge influence on frame rate, especially at airports in VC.
  4. So there's an number of activations we can't exceed? Does that mean we have to pay for extra or just email a ticket to unlock more?
  5. Hundreds of reasons why your LNAV may not be engaging. You're better off figuring that out for yourself through the tutorial than playing guess and check with us. Will be a lot quicker.
  6. Are you kidding!? I'm running top of the line hardware overclocked closer to its limits than away, and something always screws 20% of the time I alt -tab with the NGX. Only that plane though. Hopefully they fix some of that up in the service pack - I prefer to keep a full screen anyway and use an accessory such as an ipad to keep busy. More realistic.
  7. I've had this happen a few times but only on the outdated hotfixes. A flight reload wouldn't fix it. Nor would switching planes. I remembered having to actually reboot the sim. It happened most often when resuming a flight in progress through loading a saved flight. Hasn't happened at all to my knowledge, whilst starting a fresh flight on the ground/at the gates.
  8. I actually happen to like it. It keeps me awake doing CAVOK approaches ^.^
  9. How did you sort out that issue with the custom waypoints in the nav data cycle?
  10. Thanks very much for this. One of the reasons people keep asking questions addressed in the manual, within these forums, is because they were poorly indexed and presented in electronic format. You have somewhat rectified this!
  11. Nonsense. Eurocontrol for example have up to date current abatement procedures for every airport in europe where applicable, as far as I know. Here's Heathrows: http://www.ead.euroc..._2011-08-25.pdf Still doesn't seem to say anything much about cutbacks either :S
  12. I've been reading through noise abatement procedures for a few Australian airports. YPPH and YMML in particular. None seem to actually talk about N1 cutbacks at all. All that is discussed is runway priorities at various times of the day, and altitude restrictions over populated areas. So where does this leave us regarding the cutback function? Is it only specific to some countries? 13. I know where you're coming from. Even if they could make a flashlight, there isn't too much you need to do to light it up. Nor does it take long either. Next best thing you could do is engage the emergency lighting before the APU starts. Its not realistic at all though.
  14. Hiya Paul, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, but in the virtual cockpit. Haven't figured out how to work out coordinates - wouldn't have any idea would you? Ps interesting pic there! If it weren't for the altimeter I'd have thought you were orbiting earth
  15. Actually while we are on this topic, I've always wondered with the NGX, whats the difference between EO ACCEL HT and ACCEL HT?
