  1. You might need to be more specific than that. As people have already pointed out, yes it is variable, but it's specific to the aircraft operating. There's no single CI used for all flights operated by a given airline, unless of course all the aircraft they own are the same type. These are the most up to date CI figures for Emirates. I randomly pulled up some flight plans today and copied the figures straight off. EMIRATES: A330-200: CID 26 B777-300/ER: CID 35-37 A380-861: CID 60 B777-200LR: CID 35-37
  2. Can't say I've experienced this before Peter. If anything, my flight simulator performs better after a reboot. Are you running a 64bit version of Windows on your system? Edit: Now I think about it, I have experienced this before but not since my system upgrade. I believe its associated, but not limited to memory caching, which is a fair call seeing as FSX depends heavily on memory and CPU resources to deliver performance. So, when you load the first flight, you have partly cache data files (incl. scenery, aircraft, etc). A portion of the data stays cached. On your second session, there's less stress on the system to retrieve data since a lot of its already cached, and so you have smoother flight. You're running a solid system there, so I'd have to assume you're running FSX on a fairly cluttered hard drive, or with a pile of things running in the background. I think you'll find if you end all non-essential processes through task manager and use something like PerfectDisk to defrag your hard drive, it will happen to a lesser extent. And running on a 64bit system will also make a huge difference if you aren't.
  3. I recommend having a look at the bufferpool/poolsize tweak for fsx. From my experiences, it has a huge influence on frame rate, especially at airports in VC.
  4. So there's an number of activations we can't exceed? Does that mean we have to pay for extra or just email a ticket to unlock more?
  5. Hundreds of reasons why your LNAV may not be engaging. You're better off figuring that out for yourself through the tutorial than playing guess and check with us. Will be a lot quicker.
  6. Are you kidding!? I'm running top of the line hardware overclocked closer to its limits than away, and something always screws 20% of the time I alt -tab with the NGX. Only that plane though. Hopefully they fix some of that up in the service pack - I prefer to keep a full screen anyway and use an accessory such as an ipad to keep busy. More realistic.
  7. I've had this happen a few times but only on the outdated hotfixes. A flight reload wouldn't fix it. Nor would switching planes. I remembered having to actually reboot the sim. It happened most often when resuming a flight in progress through loading a saved flight. Hasn't happened at all to my knowledge, whilst starting a fresh flight on the ground/at the gates.
  8. I actually happen to like it. It keeps me awake doing CAVOK approaches ^.^
  9. How did you sort out that issue with the custom waypoints in the nav data cycle?
  10. Thanks very much for this. One of the reasons people keep asking questions addressed in the manual, within these forums, is because they were poorly indexed and presented in electronic format. You have somewhat rectified this!
  11. Nonsense. Eurocontrol for example have up to date current abatement procedures for every airport in europe where applicable, as far as I know. Here's Heathrows: http://www.ead.euroc..._2011-08-25.pdf Still doesn't seem to say anything much about cutbacks either :S
  12. I've been reading through noise abatement procedures for a few Australian airports. YPPH and YMML in particular. None seem to actually talk about N1 cutbacks at all. All that is discussed is runway priorities at various times of the day, and altitude restrictions over populated areas. So where does this leave us regarding the cutback function? Is it only specific to some countries? 13. I know where you're coming from. Even if they could make a flashlight, there isn't too much you need to do to light it up. Nor does it take long either. Next best thing you could do is engage the emergency lighting before the APU starts. Its not realistic at all though.
  14. Hiya Paul, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, but in the virtual cockpit. Haven't figured out how to work out coordinates - wouldn't have any idea would you? Ps interesting pic there! If it weren't for the altimeter I'd have thought you were orbiting earth
  15. Actually while we are on this topic, I've always wondered with the NGX, whats the difference between EO ACCEL HT and ACCEL HT?
  16. Yeh I have to agree with anyone above that said TOPCAT. That's all.
  17. Interesting. I actually have the exact same experience after a couple of beers. It just goes to show how seriously we actually all take flying in order to enjoy it. I can't enjoy it after a few drinks at all.
  18. How serious do you take the NGX? What rules do you set when you fly the NGX (if any)? Do you ever drink on the job? Maybe you enforce a ban? Or perhaps when you leave your PC unattended during cruise, you monitor your flights progress through your iPad at the other end of the house- constantly. [Caution]: A reinforcement of common-sense since we have brought up drinking and flying. It is strictly forbidden in real life and should never be attempted under any circumstance. I'm sure everyone knows why.
  19. No need to apply HF's. Redownload the aircraft from PMDG site. It has the most recent fixes applied. I find installing the hot fixes over the original creates issues.
  20. danieln replied to ICMC's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
Forgive me if I've missed something but this should probably be in the general FSX forum section unless its an issue you're specifically experiencing with the NGX.
  21. 1.4? Do you mean 1.3.1 SP4 or is there a new patch out already?
  22. Hi fellas,I've noticed since Ive had the NGX I've run into some calibration issues with my joystick. Only this specifically:I have a saitek X65F and the throttle has a scroll wheel which can rotate clockwise/anti clockwise infinitely etc (just like a mouse wheel). I use this for trim, alt inc, alt dec, SPD inc, SPD dec on different modes. Scroll up is assigned to one keyboard shortcut in the saitek profiles eg "alt inc - Ctrl+shift+A" and scroll down "alt dec - Ctrl+shift+q". I add these key shortcuts to the pmdg assignments menu, respectively. Now when I fly the NGX and use the scrollwheel on the stick it moves in random unpredictable chunks. Eg rotate 1 click up will cause a 300ft inc alt on the MCP. Another will cause a 100, and another 3 in a row after that may do nothing, or cause it to randomly increase by 500ft- opposed to 100ft every click, just like the mousewheel.I do the same thing with the pmdg 747 and I don't have this issue at all- but only with the NGX? If I bought FSUIPC would I be able to overcome this? Any other ideas or alternatives?Cheers.
  23. Aivlasoft is great if you can make it worth its price tag.
  24. Oh? interesting. I always heard that they enter it just before decent. But then again, relative to the 73NG, we are talking about pretty short flights so that sounds about right.
  25. Doesn't look like that on my computer Fred. Not sure why it does on his. Anyhow. Aivlasoft EFB is FREAKING AMAZING. It has a 30 day free trial. I'd definitely check it out. I use Air Display App on my ipad while im flying. Its actually like having a real EFB in front of you in an aircraft. EFB is obviously more complicated than FSBuild. But I can't even compare the two. I only use FSBuild for generating FSX .xml flightplans based on routes I generate using either vRoute or rfinder, so that ATC can follow my flight correctly. I use the Aiv. EFB for completely different purposes. Mostly flight path progress and general flight charts, but I suppose it does exactly what FSBuild can do as well. If you can get over the 80$ damage bill then go all over the EFB! As far as flight plans go. FSBuild is simpler to use. Oh and ref. one of the other posts made - iPads are the new charts of today's aviation http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_18743896
