  1. If your flying in the states I would recommend Birdseyeview over GEPro. I actually created my own for our simulator using various sources.
  2. Nice looking A320. Lot of stuttering however withthe visuals. Which program are you using for visuals? Mitch
  3. Guys, make your own. Simple, easy to interface with cards like EPIC and others. I can provide my ACad files I designed after spending countless hours in the 757. Several companies can cut your parts using a laser. I used Pololu out of Las Vegas. Tell then what you need. In my case, I requested them to cut the parts, send them to me. I painted them Boeing brown and returned them. They then shortened the laser throw and engraved everything. When it was all said and done I probably only spent 145 dollars making the CDU including the 69 microswitches and display. CDU Example Mitch
  4. I agree with Chinook. First of all, It is nice and Howard is a very nice gentlemen to provide this free of charge. Great guy. My issues with it is that he tends to favor the European look. I live in the states and it just doesnt look right. For example, Las Vegas is in the desert and when flying in it is all green with buildings and landscapes that look as though they were dropped from London. In addition, he has textures that vary in sizes and many which are not even used in FS2004. If you scan some of his textures and then reference the FS2004 SDK you will see he should have not added these textures. That said, I do not want to come off sounding like I'm bashing. Merely pointing out what I found as well as offering my own opinion which I believe is what the original poster requested. Mitch
  5. Well, it is not if you break the code. LOL
  6. FS2004 / FS9 Help Needed Hello all, I am attempting to produce night textures (free ware and for home use) that are much more realistic to what you see in real life. I fly in real life at night a lot and none of the simulators, i.e. FS9, FSX, P3D, (in my opinion) provide realistic night environments. While many are good, none reproduce the visual atmosphere that (I) see in real life. I understand there are coding restrictions in FS9 that limit things to developers. And I realize using generic textures provide limitations as well. I am ok with all of this. Why FS9 you ask. Fair enough. Our home simulator is based on an airliner and we operate (5) visuals display windows which would be way to taxiing for other platforms such as FSX. Fluidity is what we are after and honestly we've achieved it. HERE IS MY PROBLEM: From my experience, three colors dominate any others at night: White, Yellow-gold, and orange (sodium). The textures that I have developed, and, payware which is even worse, always give off a reddish glow in the distance. I have provided an example for you to see EXAMPLE You can clearly see the reddish appearance of distant textures. Oddly enough, these are 046b's which are "Small City Urban" textures. The entire background of all my 046b's are colored jet black (RGB 0 in all three colors ranges). Additionally, most of the colors on the texture are white & yellow dots only. Maybe a red pixel here or there but mainly white & yellow. However, you can clearly see the 046b's displaying up close (Circled in white) AND the exact same 046b's in the distance (Circled in red). Notice the difference. The distant ones glow red. Why? How? Where in the hell is this red color coming from? I have edited the textures shrinking them to 16 bit color and have removed any red traces. Does not help whatsoever. If anyone can provide me help and direction I would certainly appreciate it. Jim Robinson was helpful in providing me editing tools. Thank you Jim.
  7. And sorry as I do not know how to change the name of the thread. Perhaps a moderator can delete it as I have been succussful in PMing Jim.
  8. Anyone have a contact for him? Would like to contact him regarding texture modifications/restraints for FS9. Thanks in adavance, Mitch
  9. Gary from UKScenery, Please start sharing your incredible skills within the continental US. FS9 has many airports that need work in the states. Phoenix, Salt Lake, Milwaukee for example. Would love to see you export your skills over this way. Your sceneries are some of the most incredibly detailed I've ever experienced. You guys in Europe at least need to teach these folks over here how to create sceneries that are not so FPS taxiing. ImagineSim comes to mind. Dogs compared to your highly detailed work. Give it a thought. Still a lot of us heavy fliers out here. Mitch 757simulator.com
  10. To change the subject just a bit, can someone please answer me this question. Why is it that the European airport designers far exceed any designers here in the States? Seriously. The detail, quality, and frame rates are incredible. I often fly many of the UK2000 extreme airports in our full sim and they blow away any airport designed in the US. Just curious. Mitch
  11. Frankly I've never heard Dyrchwitzee whatever. Should we care?
  12. Hello everyone, I thought there was a sound forum here but I cannot find one. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I'm trying to add sound parameters in my Sound.cfg file which will accomplish: - Very low wind noise below 250 knots - Increase dramatically as you accelerate past 250 knots with the sound maxing out at 350 knots+ Just flew to Germany over our (US) Thanksgiving holiday and really paid attention to the slipstream noise. It was very quiet below 10,000 feet. You could hear it but it was quite low. Then as we cleared 10,000 and accelerated the noise increased dramatically. Aircraft was a B767-400. I realize this is inappropriate to post this in this forum but again I could not find a "sound" forum. Many thanks in advance, Mitch 757simulator.com
  13. OK guys, one last video depicting FE9G. You will love the ending as it captures a very, very, close miss with a company 737-800 turning final into the same runway.
  14. Guys, Another video. This time a early dusk bridge approach to 28L SFO into the setting sun. I swear it was so bright I felt like I needed sunglasses. LOL. (Using version 1.1). I just wish the IPhone recorded better. The colors and scenery tend to get washed out at times as there are varying refresh rates with our scenery monitors etc. That said, I cannot begin to thank the gentlemen of FE9G enough. With Sascha's water textures, and FE9G sky and atmospheric textures, our make believe world has taken a step closer to realism. 757simulator.com
  15. Google? Go to the very first post in this thread and you will find a link to Calclassic. The site has a link to version 1.1.
  16. Version 1 of FE9G And I will submit that Sascha's water is better. Again, my opinion. PS: The fact we are having this discussion about a program written over 12 years ago is astonishing.
  17. Sascha, that is great but we need to ask the authors to fix this so folks, many which are not familiar with editing, can enjoy with a simple installation such as EVO. Frankly, in my opinion, version 1 beats 2 & 3. When authors begin adding more and more variants it wonders away from realism and ventures into a make believe world which I feel Rex has become over time. I equate it similarly to wondering into a department store and begin smelling various colognes or perfumes. The nose quickly becomes over saturated and dilluted. I would love to see the authors provide us with a realistic version and perhaps one where folks can adjust to their liking while venturing away from true realism. At the minimum, I travel for work via air travel at a minimum of 8-10 times per month and what I have experienced with version 1 is incredibly real. Thanks
