  1. I think none is understanding the reasons behind why XP features / performance were never released or done or whatever and trying to give great answers without understanding , one needs to understand that XP was using Opengl engine catering to multiplatform , I believe Opengl had / has limitations , it couldn't have gone with DX which would only be windows and single platform was or is not LR's criteria Just searched on Google "Vulkan API release date " it says 16 Feb 2016 , hmm wasn't Xp11 also released in 2016 ?
  2. You forgot the most important one , I won't say it here else someone will report it as something something , but think what !
  3. I really don't think it matters , but as i said I am not sure , have never used it. But if there is in-game HDR option then use that.
  4. DO you mean HDR in w10 ? i think it's mostly for video playback but i am not 100% sure.
  5. If LR don't mnanage to then he will make all the animations which will include ants crawling on your ASI
  6. Yeah that would probably depend on the manufacturer and BIOS they use / design , and most OEM's have windows ready Desktops / Laptops so they are probably MS signed . I would not want a computer with access rights and that too only that sit with MS. I am actually tempted to try out some other flavor of linux with secure boot which probably is not using MS signed keys , any idea which ?
  7. fair enough , but what I feel is only the branded systems / laptops are loaded with MS keys and not the assembled one's ?
  8. Fine , they would need to be signed MS what i believe is known WHQL (which screwed up anyway) , but then why is Ubuntu working without any issues ? We have 3 NUC's at work , two are on 2016 server and one is on Ubuntu server and all three are Secure boot / UEFI , even Ubuntu works fine.
  9. Hmm , but the OS without the nvidia works that's what I am trying to say. I do not have a system with a Nvidia except the laptop TOshiba is Nvidia but it's legacy bios , the only ones that i am using secure boot is my Ryzen + GPU RX 550 and the office laptops (these laptops do not have a discrete card) Do you have Nvidia ? can you try it ?
  10. Have you tried it with Linux ? So if I assemble a system by myself that means I can't run Linux with Secure Boot ? Well , my office laptops are dual booted using Secure Boot UEFI enabled , all updates work perfectly with Ubuntu 18.04. My home Ryzen is Secure UEFI / TPM 2.0 dual boot W10 / Ubuntu 20 works fine even after updates. Or i am confused with this secure boot myself !
  11. NO. If that ever happens trust me Windows will no longer exist
  12. Yes for branded one's there is probably a fee / tax that might go to MS. Mine is an assembled one by myself that is the one which has w10 activated. But then what about laptops that are four years old but are still activated for W10 ?
  13. my desktop at home W10 I didn't pay anything for it. But it went ahead and activated it. My other office laptops running win7 were formatted and installed with W10 , they also are activated (no the win7 license was not used as an upgrade to w10)
  14. Don't know but this what i am seeing in my organisation , we are now completely on laptop mostly due to WFH and 80% users are on dual boot for Vscode. I see no other reason for MS giving away free OS. So if they want every single PC / laptop on MS Win they would need to provide it free , i am not paying a 200-300 bucks for it when i get stuff done on the freeone. Yeah gaming is a completely story
  15. Mostly because more users are going with linux , well that's my assumption
  16. Linux is quite well established now , guess we are safe
  17. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/device-experiences/oem-secure-boot What if they stop trusting Linux 😱
  18. What are you trying to tell me ? just pointed out to W11 support for a Ryzen 5 1600x not being given simple.
  19. So I installed W11 on the laptop , honestly don't like it , it's a mixture of KDE with Win I feel. Performance seems similar to W10.
  20. Agreed, but doing it on all XP threads is not a critic I believe ?
