  1. Well, I have to agree with the others on this matter Bert. Yes, its up to the pilot to control the pitch, speed, etc...during the climb out phase, regardless of turning, climbing descending, etc. However, it is common practice from what I hear to complete a turn before retracting flaps. Its not a written rule, but take for example that on your right wing the flaps jam as you are making a left hand turn. This gives you a considerable about of extra lift on the "up side" of the plane and at 20 to 30 degrees of roll, this is not a situation I want to find myself in. Just a thought. -Dan Burke-
  2. I actually have a Nvidia graphics card. The issue is that, its not a one off occurance. It seems to happen nearly every time I use FSX. So restarting is a solution, but a permanent fix to the issue would be the best! Otherwise, I'll be saving a restarting FSX with every flight if I am using one of the mentioned variants. However, Thank you for your suggestion! -DAN BURKE-
  3. Hi there, I've noticed, more recently, that when I fly with my 736/737non-winglet, and my 738/9 all variants, I get a lot of missing graphics, generally about midway through a flight. I NEVER have an issue with the 737-7Winglet version though, So wondering what the difference is? I've posted a photo below of the 800/900 issue, and the 600/700 loses the back half of the skin from the tail to mid-way to the wing although the seats are still visable. I don't have a photo of this, but anyone know any solutions? I've adjusted graphics till I'm blue in the face and seeing as I don't have the issue with the 700winglet version, I am a bit confused that its my graphics. Thanks In Advance, -DAN BURKE-
  4. Wow! Why is this such an argumentative topic? Kinda childish isn't it? All I've suggested is to take a look at real world charts when flying cause it makes things easier. Take into consideration the Approach star I used. Lets say I was expecting a landing to the south at KMCO on Runway 17L. If I let the FMC calculate EVERYTHING and DO NOT take into account the vertical planning on my chart, I am going to run into BAIRN at about 13,000 ft. instead of 11,000. Its not an unmanageable task and quite a nice approach. However lets say on my descent, runways switch to North landings. I now have to land on 35R. According to the chart it says for North landings I should Expect 8000 at BAIRN. Because I am already descending, I am now going to cross BAIRN at roughly 5,000 ft higher than I would if I had just entered in my crossing restrictions to begin with as BAIRN 250/8000 11000B. It just makes the ENTIRE APPROACH more manageable. Just because it says to expect doesn't mean its set in stone or required, but its nice to set anyways as a way to be sure I don't have to rush to make adjustments. I didn't mention anything about ATC as I don't even fly with ATC, but I doubt any controller would scold you for being on top of your plans. Pre-planning is just another way to have a more efficient and enjoyable flight. Just opening options to those who haven't thought about it before. Thanks, ~DAN~
  5. I just wanted to put out there the benefits of using charts when flying! I've been reading topics on how to slow down the -800 and using less of a descent profile and so on, but the benefits of vertical planning that arrival charts provide are a great tool in getting your aircraft to a manageable speed for landing. A lot of STARS provide vertical planning that asks you to expect a specific altitude at specific points and reference those altitudes to south or north, east or west landings. Many times these vertical crossings are NOT programmed into the stars from navigraph and looking at the arrival on the chart will give you these plannings. Take the BAIRN2 arrival at KMCO. The arrival I download from navigraph does not provide any vertical restrictions prior to final approach. My FMC will give me an esitmated crossing at BAIRN of about 13,000 to 14,000 ft depending on my cruise. However if I look at the actual arrival chart I see that at BAIRN it asks me to vertically expect to be at 8000FT for north arrival and 11000FT for a south arrival. This is a difference of almost 6,000ft to 2,000ft from what the FMC is estimating for my approach. By using the correct altitude restrictions this 6,0000 is made up well in advance by an earlier T/D and my trip from BAIRN to final is a smooth descent with control over my speed. I am not playing a game of catch up by having to nose up to slow down then set flaps then nose down to regain my vertical profile to keep me on path with Idle and speed breaks. If you haven't looked at charts before, I HIGHLY suggest it. The more you learn the more you'll discover how small things make SUCH a difference and the more fun it becomes! Just a tip for the day! Happy Flights! ~DAN BURKE~
  6. Switch your NAV radio with the ILS freq. back to standby from active and cycle your flight director switch off then back on for both the Captain and FO. make sure to switch both off, then both back on. ~DAN BURKE~

  8. I get the same thing, however it even happens when I try to do any task while running in x8 speed. I tried to step climb and as soon as I hit Alt. Intervention to initiate the climb...boom...frozen....Dan Burke
  9. There is an EASY fix for this problem. Pressing Ctrl+E will reset the engine and allow it to become responsive again. Someone above posted the pressed this to open the door, however that command is SHIFT+E. CTRL+E is the key command for engine start in basic planes for FSX and for some reason, if you get an unresponsive engine with the 20% n1, (i have before) pressing Ctrl+E seems to "restart" the engine and it adjusts properly and becomes responsive. This only works if you start the engine manually through proper procedures and once the engine is "running" although unresponsive, pressing Ctrl+E will reset itDan Burke
  10. Yes This is very true!VOR/DME is simply a way to calculate a safe altitude at each reference point along the approach. It really is a visual approach as a VOR/DME would not ever be rated for autoland. I think the reason its giving you a 40ft. difference is also because the 737 NG has a 50ft Minimum max. If you don't see the runway by 50ft you would conduct a go around, unless you were on a CAT3 ILS approach where in this case you could continue with the autoland as the ILS approach would be rated for this.~DAN BURKE~
  11. Hello All,I just wanted to post that the GSX program from FSdreamteam is out and I've tried the demo at EDDM with the NGX and all I can say is WOW! What an enhancement to this beautiful bird! I would recommend everyone at least try the demo first, but I will be saving my money for this! Not sure if there are other products on the market with similar features, but the detailing and the pushback model especially are quite nice. The push back will automatically place you on the taxi center line! Just a great way to enhance an already amazing aircraft!~DAN BURKE~
  12. I actually have the same problem and I don't have any add-ons for weather......I get rapidly changing gusts and wind direction...nothing seems to smooth it out.DAN BURKE
  13. Wow! Lots of questions! These can probably be answered by doing some reading, or watching some videos on youtube, but I'll be kind and do my best!1. TCAS - the TCAS switch is located below the throttles on the center panel. Its just to the right of the squak freq. box. The TCAS has 3 modes...and you move the switch to the right depending on the mode you wish to select.2. AFT is a nautical term used to reference the back of ship (or in this case the plane). Directions being Forward (Front) Aft (back) Starboard (right) Port (left)3. I actually don't recall seeing COF anywhere...and I am not at my simulator so I don't know what to look at to tell you...4. Reserves are the reserve fuel tanks. You'll want to plan to hold extra fuel on board that isn't required for the actual trip but that is used for holding pattern before landing, Go arounds, or diversion to an alternate landing airport. Most reserves call for 45 minutes of extra flight time or to reach an alternate airport within 200 miles. I usually plan 4,000 lbs here by entering 4.0 in the Line Select....I feel comfortable with this. Once you program your route, if you get an insufficient fuel message its because your tanks read either 0 at your destination or 3.9 Below (in my case cause I entered 4.0 in my reserves) so I need to add more fuel to keep 4.0 in my reserves and still achieve my base route.5. Skipping cause I'm not sure - never used that6. Cutback - Cutback is used as a way to cut the engines to a low climb N1. This would be used in a noise abatement procedure. If you select this it will allow to select the cutback altitude (800 ft is pre selected but it can be changed) and normal thrust will resume at 3,000 ft. MSL.Dan Burke
  14. If you enter in the factors on page 2, it will delete your v-speeds that you already selected, as it recalculates them when you provide the additional information on page 2 . You will have to verify the new speeds my line selecting them again back on page 1.DAN BURKE
  15. I believe that on AUTO the seatbelt/no smoking signs will automatically turn OFF at 10,000ft. Again, they will automatically turn back ON crossing 10,000 on your descent. So at the gate, 5 minutes prior to departure, switch to auto for the signs to be on between departure and 10,000. And the reverse on the way in. When you park at the gate, you switch them to off. I am not sure where you are from, but in the US, the seatbelt signs are left on until cruise and in some cases until the Flight attendants are finished with their service (to avoid congestion in the aisle). However, I noticed when flying in Europe (on Malev) that as soon as we crossed 10,000ft. the signs went off. Hope this Helps!DAN BURKE
  16. I would really like to see some of the US carries that fly -500's painted for the -600. IE - Southwest, continental to name the two I know of. I know the classic certainly isn't the NGX, but it would still be nice!
  17. I am with you on this one! I mentioned this a while back and got a backlash of people telling me it was fictional and lacked realism....I say its a game, and I just wanna fly the 600 in some US airline schemes! People here have created 600 BBJ and liveries for carries in the 600, 700 , and 800 models, some of which only fly one of the 3! I would definitely like to see this happen!!-Dan Burke-
  18. Thank you, I will check this, however, its also happening with my Captain Sim 757, which does not have this option, leading me to believe its something in FSX or my computer that is preventing me from hearing these add in soundsI have just completed a new clean install of FSX, so I will check to see what happens!
  19. I did do a search, and I didn't find this! Thank you! I will try updating my DirectX. I did do the update with the installation of the NGX, but maybe it didn't install properly...I will double check!
  20. Anyone? I could really use some assistance! I am going insane trying to figure this out! I have now reinstalled back to the C: under program files/microsoft games/FSX like it used to be, and still no luck with the panel sounds....All other sounds are working ie: engines, external sounds, but no click, button, seat belts, etc...this is happening on Add on aircraft only!
  21. Hi,Earlier in the week I had a hard drive crash. I lost almost everything, so I had to re install FSX. Now, I've read here on the forum that its best to install FSX to its own folder directly on the C drive instead of through the program files folders, which I did. I then installed the 737 NGX and my Captain sim 757. When I went to fly both aircraft, neither had panel sounds. Engine sounds and ambient enviroment sounds worked, but no panel clicks, no seatbelts, no dings, dongs, what have you are audible. I just un installed everything again. Does anyone have any ideas for me before I re install? Is it because of the location of my FSX? I also made sure that FSX was allowed through the firewall, I ran it as administrator, turned off user accounts, I've tried it all....Any suggestions?-Dan Burke-
  22. hey there,My livery manager did update and it didn't ask to delete orphaned files, it just automatically deleted the older version liveries. As too the 3116 and 3118, I did catch this reply in another topic... Maybe this is what you are seeing as well?-DAN-
  23. I am aware that NO US CARRIERS fly the -600. Thank you for the fact sharing. However, several US carriers still fly the -500 and I would just like to see some of those recreated for the NGX -600. Southwest doesn't fly the 800 either (yet) however that was released with the NGX. Its for my own enjoyment, and if you don't want to fly them "pretending" its the -500 then don't...no one said you needed too. Just asking if anyone would mind recreating them. So thank you all for your kind remarks and boldly printed factual statements, however none of you seem to be helping my cause.-DAN-
