  1. The Max is actually pretty fun to fly. Yes, a lot of features aren’t modeled, but for ~$20, it’s a no-brainer for me. (I’ve spent more on airports that I don’t use as often as I’ll fly this plane.)
  2. Bought it - it’s pretty good. The flight deck door seems to be missing, and the tape for the rudder trim is modeled on the EFB screen, but most everything else seems to be in place. Flying from KJFK to PHNL and so far, seems to be following LNAV and VNAV just fine.
  3. Is it definitely the pumps? Do they show as on or off? With the 787, the issue that I see is that the APU is finicky - I can start it and remove external power, but only with one or more pumps off, and then when I turn the pumps on, the apu shuts down.
  4. Thanks for the video. I always set my weights in the FS2020 weights screen based on my flight plan, but it hasn’t seemed to help the taxi or takeoff issues 😞 I’ve started to single engine taxi, which helps, and watch my v/s on takeoff and adjust if necessary. Hopefully, with FBW’s custom fbw and a/p, this will get better.
  5. It doesn’t sound like the auto-land improvements are in the Dev branch yet, but are coming soon.
  6. You’ve probably already seen it, but FBW did another update on YouTube yesterday. Lots of amazing updates, including a preview of the EFB (looks awesome), APU improvements, auto-land (single), a380, and more.
  7. +1 to getting a cat! 😂 I saw that too, but downloaded it anyway. VR in MSFS with the G2 certainly works without OpenXR and/or SteamXR. I guess I’m wondering it those tools actually make a difference, and if so, how? (Also, given the registry, I would imagine one one can be used at a time).
  8. He’s great, as is V1-Simulations on YouTube (also a real bus pilot).
  9. Dumb question, but what’s the advantage of running SteamVR with the G2 if I have OpenXR? Or is it one or the other?
  10. captain420 - I agree. I get that, given the software that exists today, we’ve all come up with different solutions to the same problem - that is, needing to run multiple apps to plan and execute a flight from start to finish. Some of these solutions are decent (or even pretty good). But that doesn’t mean they couldn’t be better (i.e. consolidated, streamlined, integrated, etc). IRL, we often have some sort of device in the cockpit (e.g. iPad), loaded with various apps. In MSFS, we can also use a real iPad (or laptop), but it’s not inside the cockpit, which for some people, reduces immersion. Is that a dealbreaker for me? No, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like a solution like Avitab (but even better - assuming it didn’t have a big impact on performance). And for VR, it’s much more of a dealbreaker when flying IFR. Having to take my headset off to access charts, etc on another device is disappointing. I can certainly keep using what I’ve been using and enjoy flying, but if someone came up with a good solution, I’d try it in a second.
  11. Sound like I need to tweak my graphics settings to get my FPS to 45. I wonder if Oculus is a better buy...I’d gladly sacrifice some resolution for a larger, clearer FOV.
  12. Thanks, Marc! This is great! What affects motion sickness the most? Is it FPS? Also, I have the MSFT store version of FS, but I setup SteamVR for the first time the other day to use with x plane. The two issues I’m seeing are that it doesn’t seem to have the right resolution for the Reverb G2 (yet), and when I put on the headset and view SteamVR home world (or whatever it’s called :), everything is a mess - almost like a satellite TV signal that’s going in and out, with the floors and walls jumping all over the place. Can’t figure out what’s going on... Also, OpenXR/WMR seems to have a scaling feature in the latest version, but I haven’t tried it yet.
  13. I was disappointed too with the G2 and the 3080...the immersion is incredible, but the graphics (especially looking out the window) are mediocre. Plus there’s the motion sickness 🙃
  14. Well, I feel like an word not allowed... 1. I didn't realize that VR had it's own graphics profile - I was changing things before going into VR, but once in VR, it was using a different profile. Now that I've changed the VR profile, things are looking better. 2. The CTD may actually be the fact that the mouse in VR still acts on the window outside of VR, and you can close the sim if you move the mouse to the upper right and click. I'm going to see if I can go into full screen rather than windowed mode.
  15. Thanks, Marc - I have Little NavMap in the toolbar, but couldn't get it to actually show the map while in VR.
  16. Thanks! That helped a little bit but there's still a lot of flickering 😞 I kept getting CTDs when starting up the 787, so I switched to the 747 - same thing. If I start on the runway, I can get things going, but from cold and dark, not so much. Also, I'm pretty sure the only zoom available is with the right mouse button....but it's still pretty fuzzy.
  17. I have things working pretty well w/o VR, but while in VR (though it looks pretty incredible), I'm having a few issues, namely: 1. Lots of flickering (scenery, menus, tooltips, etc) 2. Normally, I'm able to zoom with my mouse wheel, but that's not working in VR. Perhaps I need to bind zoom with something else? 3. Sitting in the 787 cockpit, it's almost impossible to read text on the glass displays, FMS, radio, etc. Even switches that are close up are blurry. While in the hanger, I'm able to see the menu OK, especially when looking directly ahead (periphery is blurry). I've set my IPD on the headset itself. 4. I CTD first when clicking on the battery switches in the 787, and after restarting, I CTD again when clicking on the APU gen. I'm using a Reverb H2 with 3080, 10850K, 32GB ram....graphics setting are mostly med and high, with some ultra. I'm happy to change the settings, but not sure where to start. Any ideas on any of these? Thanks!
  18. Thanks, that's what I figured. I hope Navigraph or others can figure out a way to get charts in (perhaps via the toolbar). Otherwise, IFR is going to be tough.
  19. Just tested with an i9-10850 and an RTX 3080 both at night and during the day (no hotfix). It looks incredible, BUT I'm only getting 12-16FPS at the gate (cockpit and external) and in the city. https://imgur.com/a/EPcRwX3 My graphics settings are a mix of med, high, and ultra.
  20. Happens to me too, though I know IRL, you have to be careful (and many US airlines will single engine taxi if conditions permit).
