  1. Well Mr. Jack Johnston that is a really great and complete answer! Thanks for that! Side note: My airline (just me) has picked up a new hub in our Northern Pacific route. I bought FSDT Vancouver International last night. So now will be flying farther south. Great looking airport. I read a lot before buying. Installed it with all of the lowest texture options it gives to avoid the OOMs. Will be picking up Orbx PNW region next.
  2. Hey Bernd, Yeah that is what I was wondering about - Does Global and Vector make any -real- difference on Orbx regions? I have not used Global or Vector. Thanks for your 2 cents - I need all of the sense I can get- .
  3. This is a nice video thanks. I like the progression of the tut more than a few others I have tried to watch. I might even start to create a few APs. I want to create my own 3D models and refined textures so I can export them for the community. (IE not using other creators models) I work in 3D and live in Photoshop. Just need to know the optimal work flow to get stuff into FSX. Keep the rest coming....please!! Thanks Mr. Hayes!
  4. Thanks Jack. That was definitely on my buy list and got it a few days ago. Really happy with it. Took some time to get everything the way I wanted it but very easy with everyone's help.
  5. Thanks! Yeah I will just notify traffic (instead of FSS) while on the ground and get airborne before contacting Center. hold off on the ack a bit to lengthen the time - maybe That might work too. But that guy seems like he is in a bad mood already - especially when I miss my time for TO. I just enjoy the cool phone call feature. Last time my FsCrew copilot was yelling at me for taxiing to fast trying to make the FSS contact 20 minute time. haha Your help has been greatly appreciated!
  6. Hey Ron, Just wanted to return and let you know I got it working. Not positive which one of the above procedures you outlined worked (I went thru most). I believe it was my copilot and a controller having the same voice (thought I had fixed that in the past but it was there again). At least it worked in an uncontrolled AP today. I will return to PAYA on my south circuit later this week and be sure it is working there also. I do have another issue and could start a new thread or..... Is there a way to get more time from the FSS for clearance before take off. He gives 20 minutes but even when rushing in the J4100 and trying getting airborne I could not do it in under 20 minutes. Tried a few different ways to prep with my FsCrew and check list. But in the flow it takes longer than that. I could just wait and get it right before take off but that is not in the flow since I have to give clearance brief to my copilot before continuing the check list and engine start. I need at least 30 minutes. Thanks
  7. Jim you win my Star today! I removed the Bufferpool tweak and had a great flight. I was hunting for the reason I got those short pauses and that was it. Finally after 2 months I would say I now have my FSX working great - that was the last problem. Running a nice 30 fps in J4100, orbx, real weather (REX & Opus). No OOMs flying into big APs. Happy guy! Thanks Mr. Young for always helping us out. PS I had been through the guide, but have been thru many many guides over the last couple of months.
  8. Ha so you guys convinced me. I just bought the 407 also. If it has a better flight model than previous FSX helicopters then I will enjoy it. Helos should not be simple to fly....they are not in real life. I fly the DCS Huey a lot in multiplayer and really love the challenge. The DCS Huey is not for the light hearted. Best understand the vortex ring.
  9. And if you use Orbx objects then distribute them Orbx will not be happy. I suppose the same goes for other creators.
  10. Thanks Bill for the quick feed back. I will stick with the popup option.
  11. Thanks guys, Yeah I have not done much but start'er up a fiddle around. I had bought the Reality Wx last week for the J4100 and just wanted to see if there was a (user) way to custom place it into that panel with panel coordinates like the J4 did. Understood - not going to happen. Your 737 is a nice product. Really glad to see option to not have FMC - being an old school nav guy.
  12. I just picked up the 737 on sale yesterday . I have not had much time to read everything about it but did a few Google searches on the Weather Radar. As I understand it - it is non functional in the Milviz 737. I fly without the FMS and was wondering if anyone has ever put the Reality XP Wx500 into the panel- kinda the way it appears in the J4100? Or should I just stop looking now - like "it ain't going to happen" Thanks, Rob Hollis
  13. New site looks really nice! Good work.
  14. Once things are good my judgment comes from visual not technical anymore. I will only drive myself crazy if I worry about if I have lost a few frames. I know my system is good and I keep it optimized due to the work I do on it. Once I get what I can outta FSX I am good. Not really adding loads of stuff (well lately I have because of my recent return). Set it and forget it is what I look to achieve. I only went with DX Fixer to get VAS freed up sim looked fine in DX9 for me (780 is a better DX9 card anyways). But DX Fixer dropped my frames by almost 10 so working on fixing that. But then I will follow Craig's idea and disable the counter. FSX is my game/leisure time not more code time.
  15. Ahh and let's not forget some people just love tweaking, testing, and generally squeaking the last frame and payware gear they can get. I think some of that is why FSX has stuck around so long. Personally I can't stand it. I do enjoy my payware. I fly only one area and one plane. For me it is all about practicing over and over until I get something perfected....then I generally get bored and find something else to learn. Not really the type of guy to load up the sim fly anyway I like, thru any airspace however I want, and never follow proper procedures. I would get bored fast with that. Not a TV guy so learning is how I spend my free time. Navigation is my hobby. If in GA navigation it is about reference points often found in payware more easily. (I don't use a GPS or EFB in GA) Love the B17 for navigation learning. So I can see how tweaking (not actual flying) is what occupies peoples attention - just not for me. Once I get my sim working and looking smooth enough I will not look at the frame rate again. Had it perfect and then bought the DX fixer and I am back to reading and freaking tweaking again...argh.
  16. HOLY SHIZER!!! I came here everyday looking. Happy Dance I can finally crank up the volume. Came back to FSX a month & 1/2 ago and have been just running everything at lowest setting. I have read every guide and anything I could find - Soo ready! Just purchased. Hot Diggity Dog!
  17. Have a great flight. That is where I am from. Breckenridge Colorado. Stuck in warm Florida now (sounds nice but I am a snow and cold person - odd but it is what I know - mountains). Alaska has been great in the J4. Flying a puddle jumpers route (one jump an night) - PANC - PAYA - PAGS - Sitka -PAKT - PAJN - PANC and then start over. Blown away last night flying into PAGS with OpusFSI, Rex with low fog and clouds and ice. PERFECT for the J4. She actually makes it easy. I may graduate myself one day to the big tubes but only when everything (not just PMDG) gets sorted out into other platforms like se & P3D. Just happy now and everything is working perfect. I might trouble you with a question. Reading the bottom of the PMDG website 777 page it says the PMDG Operations Center is available for the J4 also but could not locate a download. No big deal just curious. Might add most of the help you have given me has been via reading old post where you helped other people. So more help than you know. Thanks! Robert Hollis
  18. Welcome home Dan! I bet the J was glad to see you. I love his little bird. Only thing I fly. Just bought the Reality Wx for her today. Gave her a FSCrew last week also. Nifty stuff. Flying the Alaskan fjords with real weather - no other AC has better visual ice simulation. IMO I hope all of the PMDG guys will give her a whirl again. Sometimes I worry she gets forgotten underneath the wings of those big liners. Can not imagine they can be a fun as this puddle jumper. I have really appreciated your help. Robert Hollis
  19. Nice write up Dutch! I fly RC but still enjoyed reading your write up. Another fun thing RC does is at uncontrolled fields you call FSS on a phone. He then puts you on hold while he gets clearance. You hear the dialing and ringing. Very nice touch. Same with call WX at an uncontrolled field. Dial them up and wake the guy up to give you the report. Lots of things you can tell were made by guys in the business. Very professional. RC can get annoying at times. But most of the time it is something input wrong on my side. Like the planner does not match or something - and off you go into oblivion using up precious fuel. Also some config items I had to find and install before it all worked right. But not too hard.
  20. Hey Ron - Again thanks for always being there to help. I am working my way down the list and will report back when I find the culprit.
  21. Yeah I have Googled the error and read all of the fixes but still get it. Exact Error: runtime error '9' RadarContact.fsuipc.rcv4code Happens: I call CLR by FSS Phone dials (which is really cool btw) the guy says he will call it in and then I get the error. I have: Updated makerunways to the latest and ran it, My FSUIPC is up to date, Multi line is ticked in the FSUIPC options, RC is 4.3.3845, using PFPX (up to date) plans it has created in the past have all worked with RC, not starting RC until at gate, tried different parking spots, UAC is off. Tried it several times and same error. Location: PAYA Orbx, RC Plan reads: PAYA to PANC@16000 (Alt1- , Alt2-) / YAK.KATAT.CASEL.JOH. *RVSM Controller Flight Options: D/ATIS(0) D/CD(0) D/GND(0) D/TWR(0) D/DEP(0) D/ARR(0) A/ATIS(11840) A/GND(12190) A/TWR(11830) A/DEP(12640) A/ARR(12640) Much appreciated - Most of my problems I have solved on my own with search feature but so far this one is dug in like a Alabama tick. hehe
  22. Thanks Mark - If i start to notice anything lacking I will change it. Right now I am only flying at night and when I head in for landing it has been socked in every time so not much ground to see. Kinda keeping it all working right now. I flew out of Aerosofts PANC last night with not so much as a drop in FPS. A couple of years ago when I used it FPS was pretty bad - maybe my .configuration is better now - or they have updated it since I downloaded the new file from Aerosoft. Will say it was really cool landing at Orbx PAYA in heavy rain/snow with low clouds. Breathing a deep breath and calling for the GSX follow me to lead me to a safe looking (warm) airport - felt as real as it gets seeing the warm lights of the Lodge (sign says Food Shelter Booze). Me likey the payware. Another advantage of the Aerosoft payware PANC - they have the newer runway numbers. Orbx was still using Rwy 14/32. No big deal but I use Navigraph and have updated FMS, AivlaSoft EFB, paper charts. I fly back to PANC tonight from PAYA - will see how it performs then.
  23. Haha - so funny! On the ground - I am a taxiway magnet! I use UT2, Radar Contact and no matter what taxiway I choose other planes will inevitably choose to go at me head on. They stop but then are just sitting there. I try a different one next time and suddenly they are using it - in the opposite direction from me. When landing - if traffic is inbound and in the way UT2 has a clearing option that works good. Radar Contact does seem to interact with traffic coming in for landing and clear me for take off properly. So no RC doesn't stop them while taxing or redirect me. mayhem abounds. But I guess -as far as taxi- it does not get as annoying as the DCS's (combat sim) ground repeating messages.
  24. Thank you Craig. To me I saw no difference in performance...oddly. All of this with OpusFSI real time and Rex with REX clouds. Mind you I only drove around and will fly a full flight tonight. In regards to - and I agree with- stuff you do not need with an AP. There are options to turn off things like the train. I was getting 20-24 tops and 17 lowest. I have done several other things I believe that really helped - Mipmapped my UT2 traffic, Added something to keep FSX from doubling planes, UT2 at 50%, AffinityMask=1364 [bUFFERPOOLS} UsePools=0 WATER_EFFECTS=4 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=800 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1500 But after basic PANC it was really refreshing- and ground procedures are easier to follow. I know if you use UTX you need to make an adjustment -google that if pertinent- I do not use UTX anymore. Ehh I thought if it did not work it is not hard to disable so why not. Glad I did.
