  1. I am going to second that Thank you. I seem to either forget or run into this from time to time using GSX. Another little search and struck gold with this post. Awesome now just need to remember. Regards
  2. I say congrats on enjoying your magnificent bird. She sure is beautiful. I have a soft spot for her too. Never really figured out what it is. The 3 holer, the winglets, or the fact the cockpit is just different to the other big 2 companies. I have gone to the trouble of having FSX and P3D installed side by side so I can seamlessly move from one sim to the other if I feel like the 777 or the MD-11 on that day. The other day I was in Sydney and saw UPS34 did a big loop nice and low from where we were by chance as she lined up for runway 16R I guess. It looked great. I will stay out of the FSX vs P3D debate but would love to know more about this VC upgrade but with the iron fist PMDG rule over such things may get us both banned and don't want any trouble, so just go back and enjoy that bird! 3. I have it installed and working on my setup. There was a little head scratching and searching the net but it wasn't that hard to get it working. My biggest issue was that there was no airport lights what so ever, and I was running an older driver 344. or some where around there from early last year. After updating to the latest nvidia driver, bingo I had lights. I wish I could remember if there was any other tricks. If you get stuck give us a shout. It is definitely a step up from the imaginesim VHHH. Very happy with it.
  4. Thanks for the tip. Was going to get it anyway but will grab it today. Should be interesting read. Regards Hayden Chapman
  5. I can recommend Crossover monitors. Google it and research if interested. Or this link is all about them. http://www.overclock.net/t/1232496/crossover-27q-led-led-p-27m-led-2720mdp-gold-led-monitor-club Now is not a great time for me so cant give to much info but I bought a 27" crossover off a reputable seller on eBay. They actually use the same screen as Dell which is made by LG anyway. I am very happy with mine and for less than half price of dell, but there is a small risk but you will find 99% of buyers r happy

    Long Haul Tutorial

Angle of attack will be releasing video based training for the PMDG 777. I have it for the MD-11 and highly recommend it to help learn how to get the most from ur sim.
  7. Wow simply breath taking. Very impressive stuff. This gives me something to aspire to!!
  8. Well that is a very open ended question. The metallic parts of which a large percentage are usually aluminium are typically very strong and stiff. But when they are bent generally can not be "hammered" back into shape as this will cause a weak point and you can get stress cracking. The skins are generally easy to replace. But if they are damaged, can either have the damage cut out with a patch repair to the area or a complete replacement of the part. It is rare for only the skin to be damaged though as there is a lot of structure holding the aircraft together, so there is usually damage to the underlying structure also, if there has been an incident with a truck or other aircraft. If it is only minor like say a small scratch the scratch can often be blended out up to say 20% of the thickness of the part as usually aircraft parts are designed with at least a 1.5 times designed load limit, built into the part The applicable aircraft's repair manual will usually have repairs for damage to structure also in which case the damage is cut out with a new piece inserted and a repair doubler to hold it altogether and return the structural integrity of the part or again replacement of the part, depending on the location of the damaged part, size, cost, time taken and structural load of the part etc are all considered. There are typically 3 class's of structure on an aircraft. Primary, secondary and tertiary. primary and secondary are both load bearing and critical to the structural integrity of the aircraft. Tertiary is fairings and the like that if damaged will not affect the structural integrity of the aircraft If the damage is very bad and outside of the aircraft's repair manual an aircraft engineer will design a one off repair especially for the part, for then the structural and mechanical tradesmen to carry out. Note that some parts are made by hammering them into shape for the many different shapes and curves of the aircraft but these are made from aluminium that is soft and once the desired shape or curve has been made the part is then heat treated to a high temperature which strengthens the aluminium and then be ready to fit to the aircraft. This unfortunately is happening less and less as more and more composite aircraft are coming out. It is a hard skill to master but is really awesome to see some of the shapes on parts that can be made If it is composite it can vary from simply adding some resin or adhesive to the damaged part to cutting out the damage usually in steps as you cut through each ply of the skin and then if the honeycomb core is damaged cutting it out and replacing it with new honeycomb then laying new plies on each layer of the skin as it was step cut, all in the same orientation as each original ply or layer. Usually with a few extra plies over the entire repair tying the repair into the original part returning the strength to the part. For me it is disappointing to see all these new composite aircraft. Composite repairs are usually very time consuming boring and monotonous, and although you have to be a highly trained person to carry out the repairs, i feel there is actually not much skill in the process. Compared to repairing an aluminium part where especially if it is a curved part requires much more skill in turning a flat sheet of metal into an intricate shape. Aluminium is also much nicer to work with than composite and for me tend to get a higher job satisfaction. But you can not deny the strength and weight characteristics of composite generally are superior than aluminum Hope that clears up some things for you. Regards Hayden
  9. Wow great shots I have been sitting on the fence for some time with X-plane trying to decide if I should invest in it and give it a go. These shots help convince me to give it a try but still can't hit the button. Still experimenting with P3D and FSX is the best it has ever been for me now on my new build PC. But those shots are just awesome, post a few more when u get a chance they are appreciated
  10. very nice repaints onedrum. Especially the MD-11 with all white nose. Appreciate your efforts. Anyone who shows passion or interest in the MD-11 I hold in high regard!! Thanks again
  11. You have my vote. I love the md-11 as it is and definitely gets the most use in my hangar. I do enjoy the ngx from time to time and no doubt will enjoy the 777 but the MD-11 will always be my favorite. Not sure what it is its just got something special. But of course an update to the VC would nice. Like someone else already hinted if we all express our passion for this beauty PMDG just might listen to us. We can only hope. Speak up or forever hold your peace
  12. A freighter will be my first flight for sure. Really looking forward to it. I like using air hauler and am currently saving up so my air hauler company can buy the 777F. As well as recently joining a VA and look forward to racking up the hours in the 777F
