beta tester consultation with ATI video card
In the days of the GTX580 the AMD drivers were crap. They are't anymore. Your [email protected] GHz is great, no need to change. Matt

How will AMD CPU's stack up now that P3d is muti thread?
It's very easy to over clock an Ivy Bridge or Haswell. and because they have memory controllers on the chip you don't have to go crazy with memory, 1600 Mhz is all you need. To get into your BIOS start up your system and before it boots hold down (delete). 1 To SET MEMORY go into the Bios set dram memory to manual then then set memory clock frequency to (you pick it 1600 or 1800 or 1860 or 2100)Mhz. (your not over clocking your memory, just setting the memory frequency of the memory you bought. ( if you bought 1600 memory you set it to 1600, if you bought 2100 you set it to 2100). Iv'e never needed over 1600. 2 Find the CPU set up in the Bios and change the CPU multiplier that is set to ( X34 or X36) to X40 or X41 or X42 Past that you need to know what your doing. i7 3770K or i7 4770K you could go to X43 or X44, CPU multiplier is above the CPU frequency that is set at (100000), don't change that. Haven't played with the i7 2600's, but have with the i7 870's there harder (not by much but more to play with). I'm going to play with an 870 also, to see if that is all one needs OCed. Hope this helps a little. Also I have't found a need for more then 8 GB of memory. Would like to know if that stands true for P3D? Matt PS Be for you start you need to put in a good CPU cooler.

If you are going to use one panel 1920X1080 you can't beat an AMD R9 280X 3GB for $300.

Nvidia 670
Would love to know what resolutions you are running at. Also what monitor setup you use. I'm running @ 1920 x 1050 24 in, panel. Have 4 panel but only using one. Have a 470 oc, 7950 @ clock 1gig memory speed 5.5 gig , and 670 980 mhz memory speed 6 gig. The 670 runs smooth everything on top settings. Nvidia optimizes it drives for smoothness. The 7950 runs fast great speed my top card, Hardware wise beats 670 @ its OC speed of 1gig. But not smooth because AMD drivers suck. so i'm not using this card. After last update to Nvidia's drivers I put my 470 back in. It is running flight and other new games at 3 to 8 FPS lower then the other cards. But the 1,25 gigs of memory needs to be 1.5 for best performance. Now the games run on a 870 Qcore. At 2,5 ghz and at 3.5 ghz no change in fps. I read somewhere that they tested a lot of new game with the new amd 7000 and Nvidia 600 series cards and found that with Intel Qcore possessors running at 2.4 to 4.9 ghz there was no change in fps. So having a test bed I figured I play with it. I can slow all the cards down to 2 fps if I put loads of units on a map in Arma 2. So if I had to do it over again to buy a board for one monitor or hd tv running at 1920 x 1050 or 1920 x 1200 I would by a 480 for $200 or less. and then look at new cards in a year and a half. After playing with all this my Ivy Bridge, new Mobo and SSD are still setting in there boxes after ten weeks. Hope this helps. I will be using the 670 for the time being until AMD gets there drivers together if ever.

under dog or is it xfx double d 7950
vamp106 replied to vamp106's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI can't find a way to update my first post. so I'll just put it here. I retested using GPU-Z 0.6.2 temp was~ 56c under load fan speed was 34% under load memory usage dedicated 869 megs ( I find this way to low @ 1920 * 1080) GPU load was mostly in the 45% range with a fast peek to 59% and then it would go down to 35%. ( got me!) FPS stayed the same as first post.. used among the giants @ dusk If GPU-Z is right this card has a lot of head room. Is there a better frame counter then fraps this card runs flight too smooth to be under 30 fps low side.

under dog or is it xfx double d 7950
vamp106 replied to vamp106's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI don't want to be misunderstood and start a war this card will work and should be good on FSX. But to run fsx I would need my I5 3750k & mobo O.C. to 4.2 ghz. or more. Also on flight @ 1920 * 1080 i'm using ~1.44 gigs ddr5 memory. the higher you go in res.. the more memory you need.

under dog or is it xfx double d 7950
I'm a Nvidia nut and was going to get a 680 and of course there were none. So after the 670 came out I saw all these revues of the 680, 670, against a 7970 @ 1000mhs and the 7950 was crap in the revues. I saw if you run a 7970 clock cycle per cycle against a 680 the 7970 kicked &@($*. For that to work if you can run a 680 @ 1250 mhz core clock you must run a 7970 @ ~ 1225-1240 mhz. So any way the 7950 was crap. So I had to have one to play with. First of all there set at a low 800 mhz and run against a 680,670 and 7970 all set @ 925 - 1000 mhz. So I picked up a xfx double d black edition FX-7950 3gb, 384 bit, express 3.0*16, 900 mhz factory clock and it has a ghost thermal hydrocell cooler @ $40. extra. I know there all over priced. AND I did this all to se how it would work on MS Flight! It won't work at all on FSX. HA HA! ALso it has 2 oz copper pcb, solid caps, ferrite iron core chokes (for starting it up when its cold), certified dust free fans * 2, and other quality performance enhancing conponents. I found it a steal @ $2,150. :Hypnotized: Would you believe $440. and not a steal! So running on a I7 870 @ 2.93 ghz, 8 gigs of 1600 ram. no OC....Dell 24 in. 1920 * 1080 @ 60hz. I OCed the 7950 to gpu clock 1050 mhz, memory clock 1490 mhz ( did not need to up voltage runs fine). With MSFlight system Idles @ 106 watts and under load, flying flight hard 255 watts.( watts are of full system). I forgot temp. @ idle 32c and @ load in flight 62c and fans @ 20%. Settings all @ there highest in flight, using among the giants at dusk on Hawaii with 18 kts wind I had 20 to 58 fps. Settings all @ there highest in flight using among the giants at day on Hawaii with 18 kts winds I had 22 to 62 fps . And this I don't understand doing a canyon run ~north to south. Going north I had 58 fps. Going south I had 28 fps. I figured a canyon run would be in the low 20es north or south. Also my fans on the gpu have been running @ 20%. that I can't believe. Also running gpu in pci express 2.0 * 16. The word from AMD if you run in pci express 3.0 you get a 10% increase in speed. Hope this helps some people. :Nerd: I would like to know what people are getting with a 7 to 8 % power increase to a 7950.

Thoughts of a 'Hard-core Simmer' & FLIGHT (Warning I go on a bit)
Great post. I agree :Applause:

You Can Have Fun In Flight
flight looks alot better on my system then FSX looks in your pic. Your running flight at low res. My system can't even run it that low.

Microsoft Points...What a Pain
Points, you don't need no stinken points. Go to pcgames-Xbox.com and click on the picture of the game (flight). then buy all or any.

Two of the best moments ever in a flight sim
Don't make it complected. In ROF I use a pro X52 & ir5. In MS Flight I just bought a Xbox 360 gamepad for windows and it worksgreat. I look around with the right stick and have gotten pretty good at it. MS owns Xbox so thay made sure there gamepadsfor Xbox and foe windows work great.

Stuck in Fly By View
Stuck In Fly-By View is a buge that needs to be corrected. Go to your appdata folder and delete your local and roaming save files. Thenredownload flight.Wendows 7 64 ( your drive ie ( C: / users / your pc user name / AppData / Local and then Roaming ). I bata tested and this problem was not fun.I taught it was because I grouped the female flight instructor and she locked me out of the plane.Sorry did not see the answer in Fred's post. To early in morning!
