  1. For snurdly, the file you need to download again is the Alaska Shared DLC. 4d5308d2 is the main folder that all of the DLC is located. You would browse to the C:\Users\Jerry\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4d5308d2 folder, then open up 00000002, then open 09f31425a816b0a0b0e1bc32c64297b7b4ada251, and finally open the Content folder. In this folder is a file called FileLocator.config. Open this file with notepad and it will tell you what DLC is causing a problem.
  2. I was having this error big time after the update and it is true, one of the DLC updates had become corrupted. It was easy for me to find out which one. In Windows7, just check your \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Flight folder. Every time Flight crashes it creates an error log file named ContentErrors.log. Open this file and you can see which DLC is causing the problem. Your DLC content is saved in \Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC. I had one DLC update causing me trouble. I started up Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace off of the start menu. There you can see your downloads and you can delete and re-download the offending update. It took me a while to get past this error. It appears that some of the downloads get corrupted in the downloading process. With my slow DSL service I'm surprised I can download anything these days.
  3. Implanting the reflectors?.... hmmmmmm..... For those who feel it may be silly to where a hat/visor when simming on the computer, I ask, is it silly to be watching TV on your couch while wearing the goofyest pair of sunglasses known to man? People who love 3D movies don't care how they look in those glasses. We TrackIR folk don't care how we look in or gear either.
  4. Amen. Civil Aviation all the way!! With cockpits of course...
  5. Actually the op did make a good point. There could be another developer to step in and fill the sim void while adding the features that FLIGHT has. I do like MS FLIGHT a lot. But it is not a revolutionary product. It's evolutionary. And if MS does intend to leave the full fledged sim market, then they are at risk of being out flanked by another flight product. I'll bet you a pinky that the folks at X-Plane are having daily meetings on how to capture new flight customers after reading what plans MS has for FLIGHT. And I am sure there are others out there doing the same. There are millions of hardcore/moderate sim heads out there that will not move to FLIGHT. Too many to ignore.
  6. I agree with you about FXS. I always made sure I had AISmooth running in the background. But having atc vectoring ai aircraft into my flight's vicinity would be most realistic. After all, these navaids are put there to control flight traffic. Sure, it's fun just doing the instrument navigating thing, but for me, most of the fun is navigating through the vors and dealing with traffic and weather on the way to touch down. I know HOW to use the vors. I guess I need more of a reason to do it in MS Flight. Especially in these low and slow aircraft.
  7. For the VOR question how about... I know how to use VOR but I haven't tried it yet? Until AI and atc is added I may not get around to using it. Why follow the airways when you are alone in the world? Right now this is a pretty good VFR program. I was married in Hawaii so I have some built in nostalgia.
  8. At the very least those messages should be in the lower left/right corners, not smack dab in the field of view.
  9. I commented a long time ago on a flight forum/BBS about how it was just too much of a task to model the entire world in one package, and that the Looking Glass guys had the right idea. Now things have come full circle and MS is know using that model. The plans for Flight Unlimited were very interesting and I was all in. To this day, no one has modeled a foggy, rainy day to do touch an go's in! Actual raindrops on the windshield and canopy!!! Flight Unlimited is the reason flight simming is my hobby today.
  10. I'm going to try this. Thanks!TrackIR is a must and I am sure it will make it in soon.I haven't been this excited about flight since the days of Chuck Yeager 2.0 and Flight Unlimited!FS9 will ALWASYS be on my hard drive. I have installed and uninstalled FSX many times, trying to get the FS9 performance. I have never warmed up to FSX and I will feel no shame in uninstalling it forever.Obviously MS is using the Flight Unlimited model, and they will use it to get maximum profits. But if they continue to deliver more and even better flight products to MS Flight, we will be in for something pretty special down the road.It looks like we were right when we all complained about how FSX didn't take advantage of the hardware of the day. MS has changed course. Now MS Flight has me hooked. And I am enjoying coming to this forum and simply reading about this new flight sim/game.
