  1. Look at your region settings: Settings -> Time & Language -> Language -> “Administrative Language Settings” Uncheck the box: Beta, use Unicode UTF… Restart PC See if that fixes it.
  2. Yes. I had no trouble with this in the 172 before the patch. Now try this shortly after takeoff, and it pitches up, stalls and is too low for me to recover.
  3. Sure. In the a World Map, set up your departure and arrival airports. Click on Atlantic City and you should be given the option to add it to your plan.
  4. Someone on the MSFS forum had exactly this issue (at a different location). I could not reproduce it either, but multiple reports should help identify the problem.
  5. The object of this “game” is to come up with the right combination of hardware, add-ons and tweaks that make the sim look and run to our expectations. It is very hard to win.
  6. Radio/TV towers, water tanks, power lines. Aviation hazards useful for VFR navigation.
  7. My fans start roaring while in the options menu. No scenery, no plane—just the blurry background hangar animation.
  8. Power plant smokestacks are also not rendered (at least in rural areas).
  9. I liked the 2D cockpit views also. In this sim, you can select a set of instrument views that slew and focus on different clusters of instruments. I think that will be useful for IFR flying.
  10. Are radio/TV transmission towers not in the database? I just did a short night VFR local flight over an area which should have had a tower with a flashing light. I did not find it. Towers can be significant hazards as well as landmarks for flight. These structures appear on VFR section maps. I will be a little disappointed If they are not included at some point.
  11. You also have to click save at the bottom of the window perhaps?
  12. Is there a way to set a view similar to the external forward view that shows the HUD but not the aircraft?
  13. I suggest the Icon A5. Super easy to fly and you can land in the water.
  14. Friends of Microsoft Flight: The Smithsonian Channel has been running a series of aerial tours of the US. A recent episode covered the Hawaiian islands. I thought some of you would be interested in comparing the views from the show to the sim. If you don't get the channel on your cable system, you should be able to watch it on their web site. Currently there is only a preview but eventually they will post the entire hour show. If you enjoy flying Flight in Hawaii, you will like this show. Here is the link to the episode on their site: http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/site/sn/show.do?episode=134778#video
  15. If you turn the HUD off in Options > GamePlay, you can control with the mouse without the crosshairs.
