PMDG 777 Release Bitter Sweet.
Maybe an analogy is in order. While we have A380s, 787s, and other newer aircraft all over these days, we still see regularly see DC9s, DC10s, 727s, and even the occasional DC8 or 707. I watched the show Mighty Planes recently where they profiled Orbus, the oldest DC-10 still in service. It has been upgraded dramatically, both in the cockpit and the fuselage. In fact, it houses a self-contained surgical suite for ophthalmological surgery! What's the point? Well, I still have a desktop running XP, an old Mac running OS9, and PC with Win 8, and other smartphones and tables. As a simmer, I will stay where the aircraft and add-ons that I want are available. If this is a PC running Win 7 or 8, that will be the case. Desktops are becoming a niche product more and more. Eventually there will be a reason for the market to shift to a newer 64bit OS and a new sim foundation. In the meantime, we can buy new 777 whizzy-go-fast desktops that are cool but that don't support FSX, or we can use our older DC10 desktops for flying what are still the coolest flight decks in any home sim... from PMDG. My 2 cents…

Voice button freezes FSX
OK, it's working. Thanks for the replies all. The headset has two USB cables... Perhaps one for the headset and one for the mic, or maybe due to power requirements. In any case, I switched the headset to two other USB ports and it's recognized properly. The mic was not being recognized when plugged into the other ports. I'm not giving my FO command! Good stuff! Cheers, Jeff.

Voice button freezes FSX
I am fairly new to the FSX community and have recently purchased several add-ons, the most recent being FS2Crew. I believe I have followed all of the installation procedures properly... Run as admin, Start in 2D cockpit, Re-install PMDG sp?, etc... I am able to bring up the panel when I click on the backup attitude indicator. The buttons seem to function as well. EXCEPT, the voice button shows ON and if I click on it FSX freezes at the mouse pointer that looks like a hand with finger extended and the task must be killed. I have a Sirius twin-USB headset with mic which seems to have been trained fine in Win 7 x 64. This is a new system i7 etc. Lastly, I am not running any extensive anti-virus, backup, or other persistent system software which might conflict... I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have shutdown and restart the system. I am pretty well-versed with PCs... Any ideas??? Thanks in advance. Jeff.

AIRAC Nav Data Currency Issue
Hello all. First post here... Returning from nearly 30 years of absence from the sim community. subLogic Flight Simulator II for the Apple //e. Yikes! HELP... I downloaded the newest airac data from navigraph for PMDG (PMDG_1204), got it installed... The FMS shows the proper dates but the scratchpad is showing the nav data is not current. I saw a post where someone suggested the fmc_ident.txt file should be changed, but it appears as follows: [ident] NavData=AIRAC-1204 OpProgram=APR05MAY02/12 CoData=EAG-1204 Looks OK to me. Any ideas to make the pesky message disappear? I know it's cosmetic but it makes me wonder whether I have the update properly installed. Thanks. Jeff.
