Fun and Exciting moments in Flight
EastCoastGuy replied to FastCheetah702's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
^ I like the break-dancing Stearman. :LMAO: -
There's a little bit about graphics configuration options in this post: http://forum.avsim.n...n-options-help/

Speaking of silly fun...

Yes, I lowered the graphics setting to get better FPS. I prefer smoothness to eye-candy. I think I tried it a dozen times before I was able to do it without touching the ground. Those cranes were a blast ... eventually. *blush* Next -- try the hangar over at Wheeler. Shallow approach, enter and pull up hard. -
Some thoughts about In-game updates.
EastCoastGuy replied to HiFlyer's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
The automatic update idea is fine... when it works. The last update for the aerocaches didn't work on my system. It took some head-scratching and help from the folks on the Steam forum to fix it. It ended up being a weird Vista permissions issue. Strangely, the previous update had worked fine. -
Hilo... I love flying under all three bridges downstream of Rainbow Falls. NOTE: Set scenery density to [Low] or the trees will ruin your day. Then there's the two awnings behind the terminal... takes a steady hand to get under them without touching the ground.

No, the MS Flight home page at https://microsoftfli...com/en-us/home/

MS finally disabled comments on their MS Flight page a few days ago. Doesn't surprise me, a LOT of the comments there were clearly out of line.

Ironically, I already had a saved flight with a Stearman parked right at the end of that road. After selecting the aerocache, I just loaded that saved file, then walked 50 feet to pick it up! BTW -- the "Water water everywhere" one is due south from there.

Kids are encoutering adults all the time online, in real time games, forums, etc. I'm a parent, and my daughter knows all about safety on the 'net -- never assume someone is who they say they are (or how old they are) -- never give out your location (except maybe country & state). Thanks for that tip. I had one crash kiddie I booted several times in a row until he finally promised to behave himself.

Gentlemen, start your engines...

I've "golded" all the other landing challenges, but it's going to take a while to get there with the Maule. I need a lot more practice with it before I attempt to max those challenges. Funny thing -- I got gold on one of the Stearman challenges even though I overran the end of the runway and bonked into a tree! -
Graphics Configuration Options Help
EastCoastGuy replied to jp1018's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
Thanks, especially for the /3G tip! I also disabled the Vertical Sync -- makes a big difference in stuttering on my system. -
It'll be interesting to see how many of those airports end up in Flight. Lots of seaplane bases I see...

FLIGHT POLL - One More Time!
EastCoastGuy replied to Tom Allensworth's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
Hi, new user here (and yes, I read the thread You Might Want to Read this Real Close, and firmly agree). I haven't flight-simmed in years (since the original MS Flight Simulator). I downloaded MS Flight back in March, and I've been pretty pleased with it. I also bought the Maule and Hawaii packs, pleased with them too. But I was dumbfounded and irritated at the non-VC warbirds. I won't buy a plane without a cockpit. [insert flaming rant here, yadda yadda] Anyway, overall I'm pleased with Flight, and have played with it quite a bit (and refreshing my memory on doing the VOR/ILS stuff). I'm looking forward to the Alaska pack, hope it also contains a plane (or two) with more speed than the Maule.
