Oh ok. That sucks...it would have made things really easy!

Aircraft
Just curious. If everyone uses a TU-95, like this one: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2549/fsx-tupolev-tu-95ms-bear/ Wouldn't we win by a massive margin?

AMD FX 8150 3.6GHz AM3+ Octo-Core Processor
TheRedBaron replied to flynman33's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI am running a stock 8150, and I'm quite pleased with it. I can get around 15 FPS with scenery, autogen maxed and all traffic at 50%, water high 2x, REX HD textures, Project Airbus A320 on the ground at KLGA. In flight, I can easily get 50-85 fps.

Too Many Addons Talking = Simulator Meltdown. Retire FSX?
I think it is kind of sad when I can run around using my computer for highly intensive computational fluid dynamics, and FSX manages to take it down :( It really is quite a sight when I see my CPU eat science for breakfast, only to balk at FSX.

Help me pick a big plane
What is your preference? Low and slow? High and fast? That is the first question when dealing with two radically different aircraft like this. And then there is your pocketbook too...

Help me pick a big plane
I have to agree...A Concorde is going to cruise at Ma 2.0 and 60,000 feet. The stratoliner on the other hand...

Help me pick a big plane
I'm assuming you are a regular GA flyer since you have a stratoliner and the Concorde as big planes  (Not to be mean--I just generally consider aircraft the size of and larger than an A330 "big" B) )

Great Computer not Getting Great Performance
Have you looked at Word Not Allowed's tweaking guide (and implemented any of it)?

How high do I fly?
I used to fly BWI-RIC, which is about 120 mi...generally topped off at 20,000 feet in an A320. Any higher was just plain useless--I once tried 30,000 and was told to descend before I reached it. For 80 mi I would recommend around 15,000-18,000.

Is it worth it ? [Question about Overclocking]
Perhaps a RAM upgrade might help...you have fairly slow RAM by today's standards. DDR3-1600 isn't that expensive anymore. Overclocks work (With adequate cooling), but will only shorten your processor's life.
