November 14, 201213 yr Hope this poll shows up right... Narrowed it down to these 2, what you guys/gals think? I'm assuming you are a regular GA flyer since you have a stratoliner and the Concorde as big planes  (Not to be mean--I just generally consider aircraft the size of and larger than an A330 "big" B) ) Total Distance Flown: 65,141.138 Nautical Miles (In reality-------I don't have THAT much time to waste on FSX).
November 14, 201213 yr this is like asking "What do I want, a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce?" How are we supposed to know which is a better addon for your preferences? They are so vastly different
November 14, 201213 yr this is like asking "What do I want, a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce?" How are we supposed to know which is a better addon for your preferences? They are so vastly different I have to agree...A Concorde is going to cruise at Ma 2.0 and 60,000 feet. The stratoliner on the other hand... November 14, 201213 yr LOL, if it was easy I'd already have picked one out. What is your preference? Low and slow? High and fast? That is the first question when dealing with two radically different aircraft like this. And then there is your pocketbook too... Total Distance Flown: 65,141.138 Nautical Miles (In reality-------I don't have THAT much time to waste on FSX).
November 15, 201213 yr No, it's simply that you are asking us to choose between planes that are so different that you can hardly even compare them. If you'd tell us why you narrowed them down to these two planes to begin with, we could be of more help. November 15, 201213 yr The Concorde is difficult to fly and extremely difficult to get to 60K. It's almost a flight sim within a flightsim as it is so complicated (for me at least!). Some people enjoy reading every word, every chapter, in a flight manual to get it to work properly. I don't have the time and the Concorde requires a lot of reading. You just can't hop in and take off. I did make a successful transatlantic flight to JFK though and now I can say "been there, done that". I don't think it is in too many hangars in the flightsim community anymore. I was amazed with its complexity and realism. I know nothing about the B377 but it looks like it might be easier to handle and provide more enjoyment. A2A does some excellent modelling. November 16, 201213 yr It's really hard to decide, since those are totally different aircraft. I own both, but to be honest, I've not yet had the time to read through the Concorde's manuals, and I've never flown it. Hence I voted for the B377. While it still requires you to do some work, and to closely watch your engines, it's way easier to take her to the sky. Plus it's a really cool looking aircraft. Flo Florian
November 17, 201213 yr I have to endorse some of the sentiments here. The ConcordeX is really one of the most impressive planes made for FSX. But I too rarely fly it because it is so involved. The fuel system is a course of study in and of itself and it isn't the type of plane that lends itself well to Sunday flying. And since I don't fly it regularly, I have to start over from scratch every time I go back to it. It is more like a must have museum exhibit that you feel good having in your collection of airplanes. The Stratocruiser is very well done and provides a good all around experience, is much easier to fly, and is actually the type of plane you can load up casually and fly around the pattern just for fun if you don't feel like commiting yourself to several hours of flight sim. When I say easier to fly I mean in terms of systems knowledge, not the mechanics of flight. The Concorde is actually easier in that regard since it is fly by wire, although the delta wing has some definite and well modelled peculiarities. With the Stratocruiser, you'll need more traditional stick and rudder skills and a good set of hardware controllers will enhance the experience greatly. It has a really nice environmental feel and gives you a true feeling of accomplishment and authenticity. But why are you limiting yourself to just those two very different planes? The PMDG 737, for example, is a win/win all around, and weighs roughly the same as the Stratocruiser. The Concorde weighs a lot more.
November 26, 201213 yr Author Tie score as of this post. Well, considering not one person mentioned the B377 in the 'top 3 aircraft' thread, while there were several mentions for the Concorde, I think I'll get the FSLabs Concorde.
November 26, 201213 yr Tie score as of this post. Well, considering not one person mentioned the B377 in the 'top 3 aircraft' thread, while there were several mentions for the Concorde, I think I'll get the FSLabs Concorde. I was actually just about to do that. They're both very good add-ons and I have them both. However I have after spending some time with them come to the conclusion that the Concorde is after all best experienced from the ground and not so much fun to fly, unlike the B377 which is pure joy all the way, although not as pretty. I'd like to stress though that FSLabs did a fine job with the Concorde and if I didn't think Airbuses were slightly less interesting than dishwashers I'd happily buy their next product. Rolf Lindbom
December 13, 201213 yr Author Well forked up $70 and bought the Concorde. Outstanding, challenging and interesting to learn about plane. Sadly it also appears to be a very unstable and demanding plane; unstable and demanding as in locking up FSX, OOM, CTD and glitchy. Reload the plane and it will work normally again.
