  1. Question has already been answered Thanks
  2. Also like the smoke of the Extra should be white and is showing black, with some bits in white of the person I am flying with:
  3. In Prepar3D I seem to be missing some effect because irregardless of what aircraft I choose I get black smoke, sometimes these look like larger squares flying around, when I zoom in. The effect I am talking about is the smoke when landing, braking hard, etc. Is this a bug of Prepar3D or is something wrong?
  4. I like the idea of this program, it makes sense to have a program that automatically adjusts graphic settings to keep the FPS at a target rate. You say it does not touch FSX's settings at the user level, so it won't change or add anything to fsx.cfg? Could you confirm this,as I have found a good balance and do not want to really start restoring certain settings in the fsx.cfg. My demo also expired, trying to get this to work. I am not sure why but it would not let me change my "lowest target" again after a first time and I could not get the demo to work. My frames were the same as always, although the software said it was connected. It's a shame, I cannot test the software anymore before the demo ran out.
  5. Can somebody give me a tip why my Nvidia Inspector profile settings are not being applied anymore? I have set behavior flags to none but no change! Thank you
  6. Hi Jim, That was easy! The EH101.dll was missing. Hopefully I won't find any of the issues you mentioned but now it's working and I can fly this helicopter again Thank you and kind regards, Joe
  7. I was wondering, is it possible to use the Augusta Westland from FSX Acceleration in Prepar3D from FSX Acceleration Pack? Thank you
  8. Hi Jim, No problem, I've updated my signature and moved my specs to my profile. Greetings, Joe
  9. You can see when I started this thread, it's been a long time but I have not been able to solve this issue permanently. I still get this from time to time. I use auto save (from FSUIPC), so it's not a big issue but this issue is still somewhat annoying. I have no information to share and have not yet found a solution. I could not find much information on this exact issue by research either.
  10. Very nice, thank you for sharing!
  11. If you do wish to uninstall REX Essentials + Overdrive, uninstall "REX Overdrive" then REX Essentials Plus... the updates that you probably installed updated individual files but did not create new entries in the add/remove list of Programs and there is no update that needs to be uninstalled. I uninstalled the two separate things in that order and it seems to be completely uninstalled. The only remaining files in the REX folder are backups, log and files and temp files. You can then remove this folder or keep those files if need/you wish. The backup folder contains your saved texures. You can also restore the textures before uninstalling, to get back the standard FSX textures, then later in REX4 create a new set of backup files. Hope this helps!
  12. I am also curious to discover the improvements over REX Essentials Plus Overdrive. So far I have read and seen some improvements, convincing me to purchase the upgrade but I will find out more, as I test REX4! Look forward to hearing what you guys are finding out. Sent via mobile
  13. Okay thanks guys for the replies, the answer is clear for me now. The chance of a price reduction on Black Friday are slim or none. Sent via mobile
  14. Yes I agree on that... I just got to watch my spending, especially with a multiple personal events coming up this year. ;-) That's why I am wondering. Helpful, thanks for the reply ;-)
  15. So I've been waiting a long time to get the 777. I was fortunate to have won this fine aircraft but there were some complications and I am going to go ahead and purchase it soon... now I am wondering if I should wait for Black Friday? I have waited this long... I can wait a little longer for a nice deal but I am also very eager to fly with my friends, who have already gotten this birdy. Do you guys think there might be a nice sale on Black Friday from PMDG, that I should wait or should I go fly now? Please don't say buy now because it's so goooood... I've heard how good it is. It's not cheap and Christmas is coming. ;-) Thanks for the input!
  16. Very interesing, I am going to give this a try! Thank you... just what I had in mind. "sceneries with memory leaks" is what I am after, but I disabled all add-on scenery... so I am more after memory usage in add-ons. I have lowered some more settings but I am experiencing quick rapid memory loss, I expect some add-on using too much memory. My tweaks are not helping much; even with 4.5 Radius, 1024 MAX_TEXTURE_LOAD, and lowering scenery detail settings... all this helps reduce VAS but right now something is not normal, I am running out of VAS even after just starting at the gate. This is new. Thanks for the help guys!
  17. Hello readers So sure, I could delete my FSX and start over to clean up my add-ons, scenery and more but I was wondering if there is another way to solve my problem of "too little VAS" causing regular OOM (Out of Memory) errors now. I have been reducing my settings (radius, texture-load, scenery all off) to increase VAS availability to FSX but without real success. I notice minimal improvements, and while yes, all those things reduce memory load, there is some culprit in my add-ons because I have only started having this problem recently and so far have not been able to find out what add-on this is. I start FSX and notice that FSUIPC is showing me 3GB left, shortly after 2GB and then I load a payware aircraft, let's say 737 NGX; some drop is normal here with the PMDG, then I have about 1,7 GB left and soon 1GB by just making myself dizzy in the spot view.... So if I were to start a flight, i would be starting with only 1GB left... this only start happening recently. With only 1GB left I would see the FSX ran out of memory error and have been. So I was wondering how I could find out how much memory each add-ons are using, is there a tool to display this? This would also be interesting to try and manage the limitations. I have also tried to regain some space by disabling some add-ons in the dll.xml but not much difference, I expect some add-on is not using memory correctly. Is there a table of reference? Some information already published that you are aware of? Thanks for any and all replies! Always much appreciated! Greetings, Joe
  18. haha... nicely put! The same can be said about a lot of things of FSX but it's still the best ;-) Interesting, yeah... I can understand why you would want to use such high textures but FSX was really designed for less because it standards to 1024. All the nice add-ons are pushing our FSX to the limits and over the limit. Hopefully Prepar3D might allow for more VAS usage in the future, don't know how VAS is handled now in Prepar3D.
  19. cool, please do! And let us know where you posted that. @WebMaximus - strange right? Maybe I have one scenery that has poor management of the VAS? I would have to go through my sceneries one by one to see if it's one in particular. Maybe and thanks for your suggestions but I find it really easy using the Scenery Editor with groups to enable/disable sceneries. I'm bound to add more scenery as time goes on and it will only prevent issues and less memory usage.
  20. Well I promised I would write some feedback and here it is; I have not had any OOM issues for a longer while now. I am using MAX_TEXTURE_LOAD 2048 as my standard now and use the scenery config editor to enable only the scenery I need for a flight. This really seems to keep my VAS stable, while before it was going up and down. I monitor the VAS by using FSUIPC (see post on page 1) It's amazing to see what difference disabling many sceneries has, I must have some scenery consuming a lot of memory, even when I am not flying there. While one would think these are not active, they are... as the article(s) describes. So I made groups for FSX Default scenery, FTX Essential, FTX Non-Essential, Add-on Scenery, etc. and the Scenery Editor tool really helps to easily disable/enable in one go.
  21. Yeah, if you are happy with 1024 leave it like that. There are some airports where higher settings might look better but you sacrificing a lot of performance doubling that number.
  22. Yeah! Happened to me too... the AVSIM forums are quite busy lately... but that is good - shows how the FS community is alive and kicking. I think it also has to do a little with the 777 about to come out. Well, let us know what your experience is with that tool. If you don't have any OOM issues, I don't see why you would have to disable the scenery, but it might be a good precaution measure and helps FSX use use less VAS. What is your MAX_TEXTURE_LOAD?
