  1. So I'm having very strange issues. My FSX runs great with water effects tturned off. Constant 30 fps even around lots of AI at major airports (addon) and in clouds. However, when I turn water effects on to any degree, the frames plummet to about 5-10. Even if I'm not over much or any water. Running i5 2500k, 8gb ram, GTX 670. Greatly appreciate any suggestions anyone can provide! Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  2. +1, haha. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  3. It's a good idea to keep an eye on it to a certain degree. I always run SpeedFan while gaming/simming as it allows me to make sure I'm not reaching dangerous temperatures. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  4. I'd personally suggest looking at at least a 22" or 24", but that's up to you really. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  5. You can go up if you want, but best advice from me is get really good quality, low latency (CAS numbering) 1600 ram. Much cheaper than faster speeds and the lower latency will offer more boost than would the faster clock speed. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  6. Make sure its at least 1600 otherwise it will bottleneck your CPU. Otherwise , lower latency the better and always better to have a matched pair than one stick. :-) Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk Far as brands go, ideally Kingston. Otherwise Corsair is good too. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  7. Okay thank you everyone your replies were all extremely informative and helpful, I have found a few sliders to tweak, and kudos to the person who mentioned the resolution - it had reset back to 1024x768. Thanks again, Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  8. Sorry, yes, that setting is set to none. Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  9. Behaviour flag? Can you elaborate? DX10 preview set off - is this ok? Thanks again!! Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  10. This is all done, profile is checked and everything is set according to the sticky (plus 2x sgss) - no effect. AA is off in FSX. Appreciatively, Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  11. And that is where I feel something's gone wrong as I have had no such significant improvement. Perhaps I was expecting too much from the upgrade but if anything my FSX looks worse. It's like there's too much sharpening of the image and therefore it's pixellated - chunky ground textures I never saw with the 560 etc. Thanks!! 12. Just very interested in the whole idea. I hear that people who upgrade from a 560 to a 670 have frames jump from where they were 15 before to smooth flight - albeit only in certain extremely graphics intensive spots ie multiple HD cloud layers, photoscenery, and especially when using bufferpools=0 as I am. All opinions are greatly appreciated! :-) Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  13. So are you saying that what will improve my performance now is basically an i7? Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  14. Hey all Just upgraded my older 560 for an EVGA FTW GTX670. Strangely there has been very little performance increase. Reinstalled drivers but am still getting about only 10-15 fps in clouds (4096 REX) at addon scenery airports, only 2-3 fps increase if that. I5 2500k oc 4.5ghz, 8gb 1600mhz, running fsx off ssd by itself. Thanks! Seth Ainsley JTS1141 Sent from my i9000M using Tapatalk
  15. First yes I would definitely use kostas guide anyway. It improved my graphics AND FPS by miles. Next, as to IVAO software I have definitely heard it has issues. I fly for a VA on VATSIM using FSInn and it works a charm. IVAO from my understanding has a little more Europe focus. I understand VATSIM tends to have more on the North American side. 16. It would have cost around $40 at Staples black and white of course. Seth Ainsley Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Went to a local copy shop. $36 to print the two tutorials and the manual. Good quality too. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 And no mention of copyright either. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I would like to be able to print the manual and tutorial flights available on the website. However I was informed at Staples that because the document says "Do not reproduce" at the bottom of each page. Is this the intention of this statement? Or is it possible to get permission from PMDG to print it. Thanks Seth Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
