On the PFD, there is the area on top which tells you which A/P modes are in place etc. When I am climbing it says correctly LNAV, VNAV,A/T,etc. Under the VNAV randomly will pop up in little white letters THROTTLE, and the thrust will decrease to a very low N1 until I click VNAV and then THROTTLE flashes and goes away.

I have only done 2 flights with the 744 since I got it. Both flights this slow VNAV climb happened. First flight my TO weight was about 645,000lbs. Second flight my TO weight was about 785,000lbs. This happened on both flights from when I selected VNAV at 1500' AGL to when I reached my cruise. My Alt in the FMC and on the MCP were the same. The VNAV randomly goes to THROTTLE mode. Ok. Ok. I know they can be entered on the RTE or Legs pages, but what is the format for entering them? For example I tried entering the NAT track point 5140N and it came up as NOT IN DATABASE. I have the latest AIRAC (1303). For the Jetway routing I tried entering, for example <entry point>.<jetway> so like RBV.J70, but that didnt work. My Sim Experience is pretty good - I think - I have been flying in the sim for 6 years, and I fly regularly with a friend who owns a Piper at my local airport. I have been using Payware aircraft for about 4 years and just got the PMDG MD-11 and 747. I know how to use an FMC very well, and am also training at NY_ARTCC to be a controller. I have been apart of multiple VA's. Thanks for the help so far!

Hi everybody, So I have a few questions about the AP functions on the 747-400: When I take off and select LNAV, VNAV, AP at 1500 feet AGL the aircraft does everything normally, but the VNAV climbs at a very slow rate (800-1100fpm) and then sometimes VNAV will disconnect automatically and go to Throttle mode which causes the N1 to go down considerably slowing the aircraft down to almost stall speed. Second question about the autopilot: During approach, or any other time during the flight if I have VNAV and or LNAV selected and I want to turn one or both off, it doesn't let me. The only way I can deselect it is by selecting another function such as VS, or ALT. Also, lets say I want the A/P to do everything but LNAV, and I want to hand fly it without the help of HDG select or HOLD it doesn't let me unless I turn the AutoPilot completely off. For instance, if I am doing a visual app. and I want to turn the aircraft without the AP but I want the AP to stay on VNAV it doesn't let me. Ok, and for the FMC, how do I enter NAT track points like 5140N, or 45E80? And how do I enter jetway routing so I don't have to plug in every waypoint in my flt plan? Thanks! Is there a program around that tells you how your landing is? For instance when I was at DeltaVa the ACARS told you when you landed the following info: Landing speed Vertical Speed on touchdown Weight Fuel quantity And some other information. Actually I might have a clue. Go into your Aircraft .cfg file and looks for (as Jim said above) the camera views: It should look something like this: [CameraDefinition.4] Title = "Landing Gear" Guid = {96873AAD-621B-4C45-8A58-DEF7B7FCB051} Description = View of the landing gear and left wing inboard flaps Origin = Center SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel SnapPbhReturn = FALSE PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = FALSE Track = None ShowAxis = FALSE AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = .58 ShowWeather = Yes InitialXyz = 0, -10.0, 21 InitialPbh = 0, 0, 180 XyzAdjust = TRUE Category=Aircraft MomentumEffect=FALSE ClipMode=Minimum There will be many of these inputs, for each different view. What I am pretty sure you have to do is go in and change in the InitialZoom number. So, the one above is InitialZoom = .58 whatever yours is try changing it. All of my aircraft are set to .58 and it works for me. Hope that helps.

Hey, So after some initial problems with the PMDG 747-400X (In another post), the aircraft is working beautifully! I did a bunch of test rides last night around EHAM, EGLL and LFPG just taking off and landing and then did my first flight KLAX-KJFK this morning. It is an incredibly easy aircraft to fly, setting it up from a cold and dark state is very simple, just takes a little while! I dont know what it is, but I have the PMDG MD-11, QW757, Feelthere E-jets, and the PMDG 744, and the only ones I can truly fly are the 744 and 757. I just dont get the logic in the MD and EMB aircraft! I am a Boeing man... So enough talking, here are some pics. Sorry bout the graphics and quality, my system is HORRIBLE!

Exactly, so unless they are planning routes like KEWR-VHHH then why do they need the LR's?

I have checked and there is no setting like that in my FSX. can you post a screenshot of it so i might see where it is?

If AA got the LR's then what routes woud they use them on? All the 777's they have are on there long routes already, unless they are adding even longer routes where is the need for them?

The First shot was to show that the Speedbrakes are extended, but not visually. The second and third shots show the Fairings down but the flaps not down. The 4th shot shows the outboard Aileron in the down position. I will try to get some more shots

Ok, here are the pictures. I went through the manual and the aircrafts systems were all working fine. All the control surfaces work except for the outboard Ailerons which are in the down position, also the flaps dont go down with the flap fairings. In addition to this the Spoilers dont go up when put up. The EICAS displays the message "Spoilers Up" and I can hear and feel the effect, but they dont physically go up.

I GOT IT TO WORK! almost.... Everything is perfectly fine except that the outboard airlons ( I forget how to spell that word) dont move, and are in the down position, and the Flaps dont go down, just the Fairings.

Ok thanks so much! Unfortunately my Task Manager has been disabled by the computer administrator (which is me) and I don't know how to fix that. I never disabled it in the first place. I just fixed the Task manager. in the processes there is nothing that says FLEXNet. I will try starting FSX with the 747 loaded and see what happens

I purchased it from Aerosoft. What is FLEXNet Licensing and how do I find out if I have it? Also, I just bought the PMDG MD-11 and installed it and it works fine. I bought them at the same time and installed them one after the other. I did a search for FLEXNet and it came up with one folder. does that mean I have it?
