Carenado C340 for X-Plane Released
CyberMike replied to Comanche's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Stunning as always, I might get it too. I wonder how many people work at Carenado? -
I'm running for some days FSX on Win8 but I get then and when: "FSX has stopped, you will be notified when a solution appears" or alike. I've never had such on Vista. I also never use the new desktop icons. It's to silly but better than crappy Vista anyway.

HI with my new pc I'm ready to use my x-plane 9 g2xpl sceneries. But after copying all to xp10 they are not loaded. What could I be doing wrong? the last line in scenery_packs.ini: SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/z_g2xpl-overlay/ Thanks

How true...I've tried the first time to de lid my new Haswell and guess what....it's broken. Sigh, I should have waited for AMD benchmarks before doing this to me. Hopefully my mb is still ok. I also had to return the Corsair H110, as it didn't fit and wait for a H90. What a pain in the &@($* :( .

Hi on my very old Ubuntu 10.04 the latest Wine release candidate segfaults. Also I'm awaiting my new hardware, hence I cannot test Wine for ~2 weeks or so on the latest Linux. Anyone could test Wine and report bugs. Now, it would be the right time to get FSX running well on Wine 1.6: http://www.winehq.org/ Thanks

Is this system enough for good FSX performance
CyberMike replied to Viennaman's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Well my current system is alike yours but lately FSX got extremely choppy. I didn't fly for very long but I don't remember that it was alike before...That's one of the reasons why I'll finally update my 5y old PC to a de lid and overclocked Haswell. Huascar what NYC scenery is that? -
Haswell Worth It?
CyberMike replied to Delta747Man's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
As someone pointed out for Haswell you have to de lid it as it's so easy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXs0I5kuoX4 Just ordered and now I hope the Corsair H110 will not be overkill.... -
I want to buy 8 and later upgrade to 8.1. Hence how should I do that? I definitely don't want to bother with those tiles.- Without easy solution like on dev prev I might buy win 7 from ebay as my Vista is ######ing crap....I've several apps that never worked ok alike Visual Studio etc., which was my reason for quadruple booting also 8 Dev Prev. But this OS again got unusable.-

I use that: http://www.mstechpages.com/2011/09/14/disable-metro-in-windows-8-developer-preview/

Haswell Worth It?
CyberMike replied to Delta747Man's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Thanks, the HardOCP's review of the 4770K is very useful. However I wonder if a Corsair H110 would be ok with a 4.5Ghz overclocked Haswell for running FSX or X-Plane with high settings? FPS should not be a problem anymore but maybe CPU heat? Thanks -
Apparently you need a very good watercooling to overclock Haswell as it runs much more hot. Well I think that I'll go with Haswell and Corsair H110, hope that will be ok.... I also wonder if I could live with Intel Haswell HD Graphics 4600 performance on X-Plane and FSX, or if I still would need a GTX770?

Oculus Rift plugin for X-Plane
CyberMike replied to Pascal_LSGC's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
It's all about 3D experience, isn't it? Well I only might buy it for that. Hence we might wait for Austin to implement it natively. I would be surprised it he wouldn't do such once the device is available. -
Haswell Worth It?
CyberMike replied to Delta747Man's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
https://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteDetails2.aspx?Reiter=Details&Artikel=273464 Hmm, they have Haswell in my preferred shop, but I've never overclocked a CPU. Do I need special software or does Intel provide such? How far could I go with the above? Also they have a HD4600 onboard...what is that good for? Thanks -
Haswell Worth It?

Hmm, I've read two days ago that a Haswell tester overclocked it to 7Ghz! Now that would make it worth to replace my old Core2. I wonder about the heat as somebody previously pointed out. -
Need suggestions and help with FlightGear video
CyberMike replied to Dr Vesuvius's question in The FlightGear Forum
I use recordmydesktop on Ubuntu. Surely one of the nicest planes is the IAR 80. -
Don't miss that when it comes out in a week or so? The screenshots look gorgeous: http://forums.xplanefreeware.net/topic/11050-glitter-gulch-10/page__pid__72213#entry72213

Hi only to let you know that I've started a Pilatus PC-24. Check back my site in ca. 6 months or so: http://sgier.com/

Oh good, I was fearing only 25% or so increase which would not rectify all the hassle and money. This cpu seems even better to me as it's about the same price? That's a 4 core right? https://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteDetails2.aspx?Reiter=Details&Artikel=234799 You agree? If so I'll put my udate together around that probably using Asus stuff. Should I bother about a SD HD? Thanks PS: how did you get 4.5 cpu speed (as in your profile)?
