I know it's pure speculation but with the amount of data everyone is going to be caching and streaming, just curious how reliable and big do you think the servers are? I know its storing 2 PB of data. Just curious how many servers and bandwidth. I think my biggest worry in the game is the servers being down constantly because of bandwith or other issues and not being able to enjoy the full game. I love the idea of caching great scenery but this model is brand new. With 1000s of people hitting the servers who knows?! Does anyone know any specifics?? How many KM does it cache in? I wonder if you can save large areas for offline so you can still enjoy your fave area to fly in all its glory.

im with you on that. 125 GB download and how many thousand are going to hit the servers at the same time? I wish it was 12 am by time zone...to spread it out a bit. I dont care that my UK brothers get it before me...as long as my DL speeds are good.

yeah it seems a little strange to me too....Why not allow a mostly predownloaded game? That way the servers arent slammed at midnight.

We can probably expect the DL to take a few hours. I am going to start at midnight, go to bed and hopefully when I wake at 7 it will be done LOL

Actually, one simulation does a version of that on the Fly... IL2 Sturmovik. It will adjust your rendering based on frame rates dipping below your target frame rate.

I just see a lot of videos on YouTube and everyone is running at 4K and 2K and all I want to do is run at 1080p on high settings. I don't care much for flying around big cities like Los Angeles and New York. Just want to fly out of some of the smaller Regional airports and Bush fields

All I want to do is fly the GA aircraft in mountains and small cities at 40ish FPS on high settings. System specs below 1080ti sc 11 gb I7 7700 4.5 ghz 32 gb 4200 ram 1 tb ssd

I can get a 2080ti for half price right now. Is it worth upgrading from a 1080ti to a 2080ti as far as this game?

Can anyone post a screengrab of a cockpit or 2 in 1080p? Just curious to see how good the instruments are to read, etc...Since I will be flying in 1080p and have to wait 3 more days its killing me LOL!

1080p is what I play in. I have a large 32 inch monitor and sit pretty close so I can see fine. I am hoping with my rig below I can at least get 50-60 FPS in the GA planes like the c172, TBM, and Baron G36. More FPS would be great. But I dont care to push 4k or 2k yet as I love smooth over crisp. i7 7700K @ 4.5 GTX 1080 TI SC 32 GB at 4200 mhz 1 TB SSD

I have an issue that is affecting my Rotate md 80 and FF 757/767. Everytime I fly one of these planes, the GTN 750 ini file installs itself into the planes root directory which messes up the nav systems on the planes. The MD 80 will not go into nav trk mode until after I delete the file. Now, deleting the file is no big deal but im trying to avoid having to delete the file every time I want to fly the plane. is there a way to stop this from happening?

Where do the new files come from? Do I have to buy a dataset from garmin?

Ok so I am not a computer programmer and dont even know how to create a .bin file. I have the GTN 750 for xplane but the DB its running is old I think its 1605 or something like that. Whats the easiest way for me to update that? I thought of paying 149 to get a single dataset from garmin however, I dont want to buy it and then not be able to figure out how to use it. You guys are talking WAY above my head. I can go all day in VBA and SQL but .bin files, hexadecimal editors, creating images from .bin files...I have no clue. Can someone tell me the easiest way?

Thanks for all the feedback! I sure don't mind not cranking the settings up in p3d. I can keep sliders in the middle. I just want more aircraft functionality in the ga aircraft which is why the g1000 stationair appeals to me I also would like some good vfr eye candy. The orbx global and vector with some airport add-ons look to make that possible.

Yeah I really like the flight models and lighting in xplane but as an eye candy vfr guy. It's very very lacking. World2xplane is helping but it's still far from accurate and appealing. I want to get the carenado 206 with the g1000 and the carenado pa34 as my primary aircraft. I would like 30 fps which is my adaptive half refresh rate goal and the magic number for me as far as fluid fps. I just enjoy the vfr eye candy.

I have a great setup for xplane. Specs below. I run xplane with pretty high settings and stays locked at 30 fps with hdr on 4xssaa with most planes I fly including the carenado HD series like the b1900. however I'm a vfr guy. I love eye candy. How well would my system perform with p3d? I was a long time fsx user until a few years ago. I know there are several tweaks for it but are those relevant anymore with p3d? I wanted to get the following products as a base: Orbx global ftx Orbx vector Real environment essentials plus Ksna from simmarket ( I fly on pilotedge all the time) Carenado b1900 and kingair. I thought this would give me a good base for flying around and enjoying the eye candy but I wonder about my fps. my PC specs are: core i7 3930K at 4.0 GTX Titan Superclocked 16 gb vram asus x79 sabertooth not sure its hardware related.

So I bought the dev version of p3d 2 and I still had orbx NA CALIF and I bought the b1900 from Carenado. Installed everything up medium settings as far as p3d goes…normal autogen, normal trees, no traffic, tessellation at medium, etc…very middle of the road. Went to KRNT on the runway. 15 FPS. With my rig, I was expecting a LOT more out of it than that. Does the cfg file require the same fsx tweaks?? I mean with my hardware, I run x-plane almost maxed out with the FF 757, a320 neo, etc….and keep at almost a constant 30 fps. What am I missing? Why such a low FPS??

I think if the dev version supports addons I will give it a shot. what about delivery options? Is it boxed or can I download p3d?

based on the graph on the p3d site on licensing options, It doesnt list "simulation" as a green check mark so before I purchase the dev option can anyone confirm that you can use the program and all addons that are compatible with the dev version of the software? Well I just saw that 2.2 was released today for P3D but it looks like the dev version doesnt allow for simming. Is this true? im just torn because p3d 2.2 looks great and I did have my reservations with FSW but a few addon airports, orbx global, and REX texture direct with a good engine seems the way to go. I still have my FSX disks and if I recall I still have the REX essentials with overdrive. So my purchases would be minimal. Maybe 150 to get up and running again. Would I need to run all those tweaks again to the config file? If so, is there a program that automatically does the tweaks based on your system? I seem to remember one out there that did that. Also, could someone please tell me if the dev version of P3D does allow for the full program experience because their website says it does not.,
