I know this Sim has a few bugs and things to get worked out but after doing a few circuits at KSNA , KLGA, and KXDR all I have to say is WOW!!!!!! FPS on my setup on all high settings at KSNA in varying weather was right around 35 to 40. Strange enough, same around KLGA. I don't have a gsync monitor but God it feels smooth. Trackir....wow!! Even with X-Plane ortho in same area....it doesn't even come close to MSFS. I was absolutely blown away. A note...when you load up....look in ALL directions for a bit. It takes all the data time to cache in before your frames get stable.

How to move CDI on g1000 in TBM?!
atlflyer replied to atlflyer's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
it doesnt appear to work so I found the OBS binding and did it there instead. Works for now but I think its buggy. -
My CDI does not move when turning it on the AP panel. I have VOR1 selected as source and the VOR is alive but the CDI needle wont turn. Also are there any keyboard mappings for it? I couldnt find it

How is everyone's performance and FPS so far?
atlflyer replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
not too bad. went to KLGA and took off runway 22 in varying times of day and weather...averaged a steady 30-45 FPS in the TBM and Cessnas. didnt try the airliners. Occasional dips to 22-25 when the cache is loading or something else causing but no real bad stutters. Feels very smooth. Even with TrackIR. -
So, did anybody have a smooth installation?
atlflyer replied to dobee51's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Took 1 hour 35 min to install. No hiccups -

I installed it just in case. Doesnt hurt. Just a small stupid app. -

so it sounds like the install has to be in the same directory as the MSFT Store from what I have been hearing? I agree, I downloaded almost 100GB of BFV data not that long ago and it took about 40 min. -
I found a possible solution to install issues on the official forums... in this thread: You have to designate where the MS Store downloads apps too. If you put the installer on a drive other than the default drive that MS Store downloads contents to, you might (quite possibly will) get install issues. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/unable-to-install-on-drive-other-than-c/124605/3

Not to discourage anyone but you might want to have a look at this thread to see how many issues there are! It's not just installation...its CTD and hanging after trying to launch game too. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/installation-issues-bugs-megathread/121812/295 -

Good luck getting it to install. Over at the official flight simulator forums there are dozens and dozens of users who are getting crashes and stalls during install. Major issues. It stinks but at 12 ill be giving it a shot! It looks like we have to babysit the install -

Thats what I plan on doing. 30 is half refresh for me. Should free up some cpu and gpu to give good performance. -

Any objective review out there?

thats not very comforting to read...especially since ive seen people with midlevel systems getting 30 FPS in big cities using planes like the citation and TBM. -

atlflyer replied to Alberto Zanot's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
the AP issues were supposed to have been fixed for release...looking at his videos, most are a week or more old which is not release version. of course we are going to have FPS issues in places like NY with a heavy aircraft on high ultra settings....to be expected. -
GamingBolt YouTube Review - Strange FPS?
atlflyer replied to atlflyer's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
true true...but he said in his review lowering the settings didnt seem to change things. Something is askew..probably his processor. Also 16GB ram...Most videos ive seen (all videos with ram usage shown) is hovering right at 19 -20 GB of Ram constant. -
According to this video: This is what he states: Regarding the frame rate issues in the video: The developers recommend an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, NVIDIA GTX 970 and 16GB of memory. The PC we ran this game on featured a GTX 1080Ti, AMD Ryzen 7 1700, 16GB of Memory, M.2 SSD with internet speed of 200 Mbps. I frequently ran into performance issues at Ultra settings at 1080p resolution. Sometimes the game may fall down to below 20 fps and then it will have long stretches of 30 to 40 frames per second. I lowered some of the settings but that didn’t make any difference. Performance was absolutely horrific in specific scenarios like snow, storm, night time or while piloting a Boeing or an Airbus with frame rates dipping into single digit. In short, this game is in severe need of a performance patch. GFX card seems hefty enough...maybe its the RAM and CPU thats the issue? Hard to believe that 1080p is going to have FPS issues like that when ive seen 4k running at 40-50 FPS.
