  1. Never seen that before. So what addons you have? Forget that ^^^^^ he's right , you have ATIS freq

    Is it worth $90?

I will not be buying this product any time soon, but not because of price, but I'm just getting back into FSX and will be building a new system to be able to handle everything I can throw at it. I do own Carenado 308B Caravan and it did open my eyes to what commercial quality products can offer. I will more than likely be purchasing the Twotter X,some BC twins and possibly the Dash 8. But that is due to my fondness for single/twin props at the moment. I fully expect to pay in the range of 30-50$ for a quality GA aircraft. For something like the T777 I was actually expecting 100-150$ range. You cannot compare PMDG T777 with any GA. I know it's been said before, but if anyone thinks this price range is out of reach, then unfortunately you were never part the intended market PMDG was reaching for. Does that mean that FSX users must be top 1% to enjoy the simulation... not at all. But don't expect high quality commercial airliner products to be delivered at the same price of a GA. For those who are serious airliner pilots, you probably won't see FTX, GEX/UTX installed on their computers (which for worldwide coverage is many times the price of the T777). There are other T777 available much less, but you cannot come back on here and complain it doesn't have PMDG quality. In the end... you get what you pay for!
  3. I don't have either product ATM. When I got back into FSX a couple of years ago I ended up getting FsScene 4X (at the time I didn't research much so it was more of an impulse buy). I had considered getting GEX/UTX, but kept putting it off. But once I get a much better system I will be upgrading to FTX Global. FTX in the long run is a much better deal for me and not putting GEX down, but the price and ease of world wide coverage (using Air hauler with bases around the world) makes FTX the no-brainer at this point. I can't wait to get back in the air once my new system comes in.

    What!?!?!?

Agreed, I jumped to conclusions, but Rocket_636, you posted because you're surprised are at how cheap it is, right?
  5. Dagger

    What!?!?!?

Considering the cost of producing this, and how small the actual market is, I would have expected around 150$. A new PS3 game release will retail for 60-70$ and sell hundreds of thousands of copies, where as a top of the line FSX product will reach what.. 10-20 thousand people at most?
  6. After the failure of MS flight, the complete disband of all those involved, the selling off of all ACES assets, mean a zero point zero zero zero zero percent chance this would ever even be considered. From a business perspective and the responsibility MS has to its shareholders, it would be completely foolhardy to even suggest such massive undertaking. No MS executive who wants to keep his job would dare to even suggest such nonsense. From a flight sim hobbyist, it would be great, but I think we have a better chance of someon working part time out of their house completing another simulator with worldwide coverage. Which to say will never happen. I agree that these posts (and those who claim to be creating the next FSX ) do nothing but bring high hopes to an already easily shattered fan base. We need to concentrate on a future which is attainable, not try to resurrect a decapitated person on the morgue table.
  7. Aren't ramps used for maintenance and when AC is not in use and inaccessible to passengers, while gates are used to embark/disembark passengers.
  8. I did not know the pro clip had active emitters. Does that mean it has to be plugged in to USB for it to work? But you are right about sun light on track clip. I could not fly between 430 and 500 pm during fall and spring since the sun would shine perfectly through the basement window in my face (moving the computer was not an option) and it would overwhelm the reflectors causing the IR to be unusable.
  9. The pro clip will clip on to the side of your headset while the default track clip (which comes with all track ir 4 &5) is a flimsier clip that can only clip onto the front of a baseball cap. I don't have the track clip pro, but in using the track clip I find I have constant problems with sensitivity and loosing track with head movements. I understand it can be set in profiles, but every now and then after finding the "zone" a few days later, it will act up again. Track clip pro will clip on the side of your headset, so I believe (though not confirmed) will give much better response to head movements and less chance of loosing tracking. Having said that, I have heard many complaints of the pro clip snapping and requiring you to either tape it up or revert to the default track clip. I would probably invest in a track clip pro eventually to make the comparison and see which provides the best tracking. Welcome to track IR 5 , several times more sensitive then previous versions, and will change your simming experience forever!!!!
  10. Kronzky, those pics you posted definitely swayed me to using a global mesh. I have scenery tech worldwide, waiting on FTX global, but I will definitely be getting fs global. Even with the unnatural flattening, the surroundings look fantastic and real life compared with default. The problem with the airports of course, is an FSX issue which cannot be fixed globally but individually. Half my flight time is spent in Suth America so I will definitely have this on my wish list! Thanks for the great comparaison!
  11. Glen , I hope you will update us on your issue since I will be purchasing the Warthog very soon and I would love to know how it works with FSX. I will be spending my time between DCS. ARMA, IL2 series as well, but with all the available buttons for FSX I thought it would be a great product with FSX compatibility out of the box. Let us know how you make out
  12. It sounds like you have both yoke and joystick plugged in at same time?
  13. I am buying the warthog shortly, so I have been investigating its capabilities for a while now. Unfotunately it does not provide yaw rudder action. You (and I), will need to get rudder peddles. It is a replica of the real world A10 HOTAS, so they did not include twist grip or any other rudder control. But this will not stop me from purchasing the best HOTAS ever made.
  14. Now im not a real pilot get but from what I have witnessed IRL and from flight simming is that there is no default trim setting. It will all depend on weight, air density, atmospheric conditions, speed, aerodynamics and altitude. The trim settings will be different during climb out, cruise, and descent and will vary according to the factors above. From what I understand some planes need less trim at lower speeds, while other have need more. So I guess to answer your, question, there is no magic number. It will all depend on the situation. Just to add, I use airhauler and ideal flight 10 so I have to watch my take off climb to avoid penalties, so I keep my climb rate under 12degrees and set my trim to my mouse wheel for easy manipulation.
  15. I don't doubt that it doesn't have every single regional flight plan up to date, but it still has over 5000 liveries, (more than 10x more than traffic 360) and with 820 000 daily flights MTX pro is the best out there.
