  1. To begin with, when you are in FSX, go to your Aircraft settings and make sure the 'High-resolution 3-D virtual cockpit' option is ticked (ON).
  2. Also from me big thanks for the tests, gentlemen! So far the PMDG 777 has been my VAS heaviest addon (forcing me to be very careful with addons, sliders, settings and used airports), which reminded me what OOMs are. Based on the above results I can see iFly744 is in, more or less, the same league, which might have been expected from such a complex addon. My regret is machines like 777 and 747 are usually used on flights between large airports, which I like to recreate in my sim, which results in very high VAS usage. However 747, followed by A340 (call me a quad geek), has always been my favourite long-hauler (I love PMDG 777 for what a fantastic piece of software it is - I don't necessarily prefer it in RW), so as far as I know myself I will go for iFly sooner (I hope) or later.
  3. Theoretically yes but, unless you have somehow set it different, the pointer will disappear after a short moment of inactivity. What I do after I click something with the mouse, I move the pointer into the right (or left, doesn't matter) side of the screen and let it disappear soon. So for planes with virtual cockpits which are especially sensitive to this problem, I will see lower FPS when operating the mouse but they will go back to 'normal' level after I finish my mouse operation. So in the end not a really big deal for me, since it only takes some frames and only when actually operating the mouse. PS There's a really cute little dog in your avatar!
  4. LOL, exactly. We will certainly thank you for that with our credit cards.
  5. That is rather very bad news. Could you please share the exact value compared to some other high end aircraft on your system?
  6. A cool screenshot indeed! Now I will repaint my office into something like this.
  7. Thanks a lot for the video link, Mo! It's a nice review, rather short and not going deep into details but well-organized as CoolP mentioned above. It made me start wanting this bird again. But I will wait till (Black) Friday to see if there is some space left on my CC after possible discount purchases. I agree the VC looks great, even in the FS9 version (definitely best airliner VC in that platform). I am also optimistic about the load manager's 747 variant drop down list. It must be there for a purpose. I generally really like this manager. It reminds me of the iFly 737NG manager I used in FS9 before I switched to FSX. The funny thing to watch was the VC mode's wing modelled only partially. Reminds me of some CaptainSim ideas. But I understand they chose it for performance purposes. At least there is the wingtip to see unlike in AS A32X. PS I have just noticed my post started the twelfth page of the thread. Looks like one of the hottest threads lately. Hot releases = hot threads.
  8. Honestly, you don't have to be a 'dedicated PMDG fan' to have an opinion. And every opinion is an opinion, a valid opinion, even if it is contrary to (y)ours. Fora are the places to share opinions. The more of them and the more diverse, the better. For someone no flood light is no problem. For someone else, flying mostly at night, it is a fun stopper. For someone a freighter model is of no meaning as he flies only pax. For someone else it matters, as he is a cargo geek. For someone a high detail exterior model is fantastic. Someone else will completely remove it with an editor. There is nothing wrong in writing about it. Who would be interested in coming to a forum where only one-side stories are told?
  9. Unfortunately that sale has been over for some time already. As far as I remember it lasted only until the 17th of November.
  10. Well, that's exactly what I am going to do. I just wanted a script the voice actors were playing briefing calls on. I am perfectly aware particular data in the briefing is changing. I should have called it better - 'template' fits fine indeed. Of course I can do it by ear. All I am asking is if it is possible to get a ready script, which would save some time for me, if not - not a big deal. I will probably have to record the whole dep/arr briefing audio somehow and then, pausing it, write it down step by step. Only then can I make a generic template.
  11. Dear Bryan, I am currently using three of your FS2Crew products: the Aerosoft A320, the PMDG NGX and the PMDG 777 versions. I love this crew simulation and have done some extra pdf files for myself to improve my captain awareness and understanding of cockpit crew interactions. One of the things I am still going to do is to learn the departure and approach briefing by heart. I don't like an automated voice to do it for me (or 'as me'). Now certainly I can do it by just writing down what I can hear, but it will be a rather long task. So the question is: can you make a text (txt, doc, pdf) version of what your voice actors read for briefing available? I would very much apppreciate it. Thanks a lot in advance!
  12. If you read previous posts, you will find some information on that given by a few people.
  13. I see there is a lot of confusion about what type of lighting is or is not included. So even though I do not (yet) have this addon, let me quote iFly staff: 'there are no panel flood lights in the VC. The aircraft has panel and gauge backlights and the dome light'
  14. Thanks a lot for your reviews, gentlemen. Keen as I was on buying it, I am holding on. The price tag does look very high for what it seems to offer - one (pax) model and almost no liveries on release. I also don't like current Flight1 staff's policy 'not to inform customers about what to expect from the product'. And the reported flaws do not make it easier. One question, Karan, if you don't mind: Do you actually mean dome or flood lights? Judging by the screenshots I saw it misses the typical 744 orangeish flood loghts.
  15. Though judging from his reply, there is nothing to be expected in the near future. :( I admit I got spoilt with addons having FS2Crew and Virtual Avionics CDU support and currently fly nothing else.
  16. Thank you very much for your reply, Bryan.
  17. Exactly and that happened before the Black Friday/Christmas sales I was saving for. Who likes these tough decisions? I'm waiting for some more words from the early buyers while looking for my credit card which has hidden somewhere knowing what is going to happen.
  18. Dear Bryan, Do you have any plans (or hopefully have already started) to create FS2Crew for the new iFly 747-400? Looks like an awesome addon to be honest.
  19. A nice idea, Jonathan. I was considering it too. But I wasn't sure if disabling, not uninstalling (and so restoring the backup stuff), a UTX region does not mean some files will be missing (all in all UTX replaces a lot of default files) and the sim will engage memory to keep searching for them. Are you, or anyone else, sure this is not the case?
  20. Wow, this one has really come as a surprise! I was hoping to get it this year, but today? I was just going to fly a previously planned A321 route, but looks like my joystick is going on the shelf and my yoke is getting some undusting. Thanks a lot for the heads up!
  21. Indeed, Jude! I'm still holding on with any purchase while hoping for Black Friday's discounts on FSDT (CYVR and KIAH) and Flightbeam (KDEN). Plus the (wallet's) threat of iFly's 744 being released... Well, I need to think of a nice gift for my wife. Sorry for joining the OT.
  22. Agreed. In my view the video did not do the plane a favour. I think its author concentrated on advertising his product. But these screenshots are simply awesome! I have saved 15 of them to enjoy them later in my image browser. I literally can't wait to put my hands on this beauty (I am still a big quad lover).
  23. This one performs fantastic for me. It is generally an awesome addon and one of my favourite airports to fly. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
  24. I don't think so, since I use FSX (forgot to write it, sorry).
  25. I have tried reducing autogen too. No luck on my side unfortunately.
