  1. How would you go about telling the FMC about Schiphol's night approaches since they differ from the daytime due to noise abatement?
  2. Whenever I click on a display to have it popout, it always resets to default positions after a plane load. Would it be possible to have it remember its placement?
  3. Worked for me yesterday. For the bigger files, I chose to torrent them. Not really a fan of photo scenery, but we'll see.
  4. Same. It isn't "just" the product, though. It's support like this (never condescending, always teaching) that makes it an extremely easy buy.
  5. I wanted to edit my post, but couldn't find a button to do so ... Anyway, just to let you know, I just did my first flight starting Squawkbox from the start menu, and I didn't get the assertion error.
  6. Heys, I've found something I think we should read: http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=61644
  7. If you're talking about the in-game ATC, I have no interest in that. With regards to an online flight like VATSIM, just put first timer in the remarks and go for it. I know that's not the way to do it, and I'll probably ###### off every controller out there, but I think, as in real life, a lot of people are very anxious about their first communications. Go in there, fail horribly for all I care, but now you have the experience of what it's like and have a great idea of what you can expect. Experience counts so much more than just reading. Should you really be anxious, we could see if I could Skype you through it if you're not comfortable. Not sure how and if that would work, communicating via different means on the same computer. Or, I could fake a controller if that lifts the pressure. That offer is open to anyone, btw.
  8. No problem with the age, the problem persists. I'm glad to take any hint. Do you mean fire up Squawkbox first and then fire up FSX?
  9. Cool idea. I might steal that from ya! But, isn't half the fun figuring out how to get there? Looks like you're in a descent aircraft since you're doing SID/STARS, so if there's a controller on-line he can correct your clearance. The nasty part is all those different transition altitudes.
  10. Pressing Spacebar again did not work. And like I said, I deleted all default commands so I need an event name instead of Shift-O. Anyway, I deleted Mouse Look from the commands so I hope I never get into it again. Thanks, though!
  11. I remapped all my controls to X-Plane equivalents, but I missed one: Mouse Look (On). So, I pressed the spacebar and now every time I move the mouse the view changes. I went through the controls window, but there doesn't seem to be an OFF event. How do I get out of Mouse Look mode? Everything I googled came back with things like Ctrl-O, but since I deleted all view commands that doesn't work.

    Three questions

    Thanks, guys, I'll try that.
  13. The routes I take are usually already in there (fill in both airports and a route pops up), and if it isn't, click on any of the four links at the bottom to give you routes people already used. That said, a lot of people use PFPX and seem to like it. You know what they say: 1B Simmers can't be wrong.

    Three questions

How would you like me to post questions? One per thread with a useful title or multiple in one post with a not so useful title? Is it possible to increase the volume of the radios? All volume settings are at default at the moment, and didn't see an option in the CDU. I probably missed a button on the pedestal? After landing, how do you disable APP mode on the MCP? I even tried the TO/GA button, but it wouldn't budge. Thanks! N Brazen
  15. I love simbrief.com, and yes, it exports to the PMDG FMC, both the flightplan AND weather. As they say in the README at <FSX>/PMDG/WX/: 7. Press WIND DATA REQUEST at LSK 6R on the WIND page in the airplane and it will automatically load these values into the FMC. Note that it is best if your cruise altitude is already entered on the PERF INIT page before you do this as it helps the algorithm narrow down the correct altitudes to use.
  16. Was following along Tutorial #2, and everything went according to what's written. However, when I came to page 0.00.79 to set the trim, I noticed the AT P/RST light came on (above the ND). The QRH tells me to control thrust manually (the engines aren't on yet) or reengage the AT. Whenever I do reengage the AT, the switch goes back to the off position and the light comes on again. What's the correct procedure to fix this? -----8<-----------------------------------8<------------------------------ Ah, nvm, solved it. Earlier in the Tutorial, it tells you to press F1 to make sure the throttle is at idle. If you do that too long, it goes a little bit into Thrust Reverse. That makes the AT disconnect. N Brazen
  17. Oh, good, I'm going to Google for that. Using the arrow keys overshoots where I want the view all the time. No way to fine tune it as far as I know. ) Thanks! N Brazen
  18. Slick way to get me to click on your link, if that's what it was. Anyway, here's the "real" link. http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2013/10/18/g-sync/
  19. Could you post the STAR and RWY you're using?
  20. I use Ezdok for my views, and with it, I changed the default pilot's view that came with it. However, I didn't realize until later that the HUD requires precise positioning, and that's hard to do with Ezdok. is there a way I can get a default pilot's view, assuming there is such a thing?
