  1. For the record, I'm no fan of it either. I'm hoping they'll target us more experienced folks when it comes time to unveil and talk about the full simulation later this year. Logically, by then the newbs will have gone through school, the target audience should shift to more seasoned users....right Dovetail?? :-) Oh, and the stability of 64 bit is what I look forward to the most. I'm not a computer genius or anything, but does this mean that DFS will use graphics card and RAM more and not just put everything on the processor like FSX?
  2. I believe it goes back to who the target audience is. Do you think someone who has never run a flight sim is going to care about how nice the trees look compared to FSX or whether there are cockpit shadows or not? Sure, WE do, but again, people who already know how to start a prop and get it off of ground are NOT the target audience of Flight School. A "boring" gameplay video won't capture these people's interest, but a dramatic cinematic will. (I'm still laughing at the pilot grunting while pulling the stick back, sounds like something I heard in a public restroom today) My real burning question for Dovetail is a quite simple one- why no C172???? It seems to be one of the most common planes to learn to fly in, I'm rather shocked that they skipped over it.
  3. Marketing question- Will the new sims be focused on Steam/download purchase or is Dovetail aiming at also a retail box version that people can pick up at major retailers like Wal-Mart and Target?
  4. Quick questions - 1- The most absolutely annoying thing, for me and many, many others, was the "run as admin" bullcrap with FSX. If you didn't run as admin, your add-ons wouldn't work. I'm still on W7 and won't dare touch W8 and am reluctant to go to W10, so I don't know if the new operating systems are better, but will your products still require one to use an Admin account or "run as admin" privledges? Please avoid it all costs if possible. While we're on the topic- 2- Any idea what the minimum requirements will be for either or both sims? Thanks for any info
  5. FeelThere 175-195. Still learning them, particularly the autopilot system, they're a lot of fun. Great sound set as well. Get them when they go on sale :-)
  6. I own the SE but am not running it due to stupid user account issues (steam's fault)..but I really hope DTG can build a new FS that has weather/textures as good as REX, planes as nice as Carenado/PMDG, land class as good as Orbx, airports as nice as FlyTampa stuff, straight out of the box. I'd pay $125 for it if that stuff "came standard", all with improved physics. I can dream can't I?
  7. I don't know, everything looks slightly cheaper to me, but I'm in the USA so what do I know lol. Feel bad for anyone in AU. Last I checked the nice Carenado Stationair was a full $15 more expensive for them to buy. Ouch!!
  8. Never had this problem before, but downloads seem to be hanging up and saying they're going to take 12-26 hours to download. My internet seems to be working just fine, is their server messed up or something? Anyone else having the same issue? I'm in USA and it typically takes 20-60 minutes to DL a huge add-on like REX or ORBX global..
  9. http://www.alabeo.com Mostly the older stuff on sale, but I've been waiting for an excuse to buy the R66 so here goes. Enjoy :-)
  10. That's my thought, too. Plus a generic bag won't tip off thieves to what's inside. Thanks for the reply
  11. Thinking about buying a Nikon D3200 for my wife/family for Christmas. There's two versions, a kit with an extra lens and bag for $496 on Amazon/Target/Best Buy or the camera with a VR lens for $450. My question is, is the VR lens worth not getting the extra (non-VR) lens? What's the benefit, when does VR make a difference in your experience? I searched around already on Google and such, just wanted more opinions. Thanks!
  12. An idea I've been playing with is throwing fsx on an ssd external drive. By this I mean an internal ssd inside of an external case. Hoping to acheive faster load times and hence smoother play. Looking for anyone who actually runs this setup, if there is anyone. #1- will this even work? #2- will this bypass those stupid "administrator rights" pop ups. In other words can I just click run and go with things like REX or will I still have to deal with annoying passwords to function lol? #3-what setups work and what doesn't? #4-with this setup, could you use it on multiple computers (not at the same time) or will fsx not work because of registration key issues? Amazon has some decent ssd's reasonably priced. External cases too. I want at least 228gb to have room for add-ons. I run 1 pmdg and many caronado aircraft. UTX and ORBX scenery. REX weather and textures. Nothing too crazy. Thanks in advance.
  13. I'm still running an i7 2600 and a core 2 duo e8400 in my older computer lol. Must be nice to have money to ###### away :(
  14. Anyone have any leads on what deals will be available this year? I remember last year Orbx had a lot of regions dirt cheap (regions like PNW for $12) and Caronado/Alabeo had a lot of planes 50%. Should we expect more of the same this year? I wish PMDG and FlyTampa would have sales but they never do :( Anyone have any leads?
