  1. Cool, i will take everything that has been said here into consideration. I just decided to wipe everything and reinstall P3D and everything included since I was doing a lot of experimenting on this latest install. Now I know what works and what doesn't I'll try and report back to see if I still experience issues after the clean install. Thanks for the tips everyone
  2. Hi all. Looking for some advice on VAS...I know it's a dead-beaten topic but from my research, it seems like I'm experiencing higher VAS than normal. So normally I am an FSX:SE'er but decided to migrate to P3D v3 after hearing the latest version has a lot of optimization tricks up its sleeve for VAS handling and management. I am still in the process of tweaking and fine-tuning, but I am largely a PnP setup right now and I appear to be having higher VAS use than FSX:SE. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I understand P3D has more updates and more coding to create an immersive experience but here's what I noticed from my latest situation. So, I installed P3D V3.35, and pretty much mimicked my FSX:SE install. This means: P3D V3.35 ORBX FTX Global Base ORBX FTX Vector PMDG 737 and 777 Aerosoft Extended X Airbus A320 Fam ActiveSkyNext Builcd 6010 REX4 Textures FSPassengers MyTraffic6 New York City X New York City Airports X (Only the Newark Airport extension only) No manual tweaks like Affinitymask or Texture Bandwidth etc...except for fixing directory routes for MyTraffic. That's it. And yet, here I am, at the gate in the 737-800 PMDG, at Miami-Dade waiting for my FSPassengers to board and Process Explorer tells me P3D is taking up nearly 3.3GB of its VAS. I tried replicating the same exact scenario and my max VAS with FSX:SE is 2.7GB. Framerates are even slightly better on FSX:SE. even with all the scenery sliders jacked up to Extremely Dense. Is this normal? Here's what's even more confusing. Last night, I tried this same exact test flight, but at night, KMIA -> KATL in the evening and all was OK until I was on my final approach and I got an OOM warning and CTD! Yet, I can do this exact flight, no problem (and have before) on FSX SE. I know I can rely on FSX SE to provide me a solid experience but the updates for P3D (and slightly better graphics) make me want to migrate permanently. 3. Welp, it definitely looks like it's me who's done goofing. I have skimmed over the Tutorials/Manuals--but admittedly proper fuel planning is something I have yet to tackle and learn to the fullest extent. I've just been assuming that I can fly pretty much anywhere with at least 75% full tank, if not a full tank on the extra long haul flights, while managing the cargo payloads and to make sure I don't exceed the plane's Gross Weight and Load Level Max. so far my amateur FSim experience was to see if I could complete a flight on max realism/settings and then usually I go backwards and figure out what else I need to do to get myself closer to replicating the experience as a whole. I'll definitely look into the fuel planning much more now and go back to the manuals. Thanks for the direction! C
  4. Holy fast reply batman Hi Scandinavian13--thanks for the quick response. I used to use FSPassengersX to fix the load/passengers manifest, but I disabled the "Weight/Fuel" option and have since resorted to PMDG's integrated Payload setup. That is what I did here and have been doing for a while.
  5. Hello fellow Simmers. Just an intermediate enthusiast checking in here, but seeking some help to figure out what I'm doing wrong. My issue: The A/T won't match the speed selected/programmed into the FMC/route. I tried searching a bit but I couldn't seem to find a thread that matches my issue, so I'm deducing that it's probably me not doing something correctly, rather than a fault in the software. Or I could be just a noob and not be using the right search terms So for instance, say I program everything as it should and ask the FMC to calculate speeds/fuel consumption etc. I'll go to the LEGS menu and I'll obviously see that the cruise speed at TOD will be way too fast upon first calculation (Example pictured here, KLAX>PHNL, cruise alt set at FL370, but the computer will say cruise speed is 0.90 Mach--WAY too fast--from the decent hours I've spent at the helm of the 777 (for an amateur), I know the plane's best cruising at around 0.80-0.83 Mach. So I'll go through the computer to fix the speed to 0.83M whereever I can but no matter what I do, the A/T will sit almost literally at redline all flight--I might get a wind gust which will push me, but I won't get an OS warning, but I just don't understand why the plane won't listen to my input. I've attached all the menus I think are relevant and a shot of my cockpit. What am I doing wrong? Thanks everyone! Happy flying. Vitals: Windows 10x64 FSX-SE ActiveSky Next Orbx + (some third party airports, but irrelevant to the issue) Pics (via imgur): Cockpit (see how I'm sitting at redline on speed?) Relevant FMC menus
  6. Hi guys, just thought I get back to you all and say thank you for your input! I realized the artifacts are indeed a result of high autogen traffic. Also read somewhere that Airport Ground Traffic also contributes to memory overloads and artifacts. So I ended up dropping that to around 30% (from like 75%) and I have my "normal" road traffic at 80% (up from 60%). Went through all the airports i've had drops in framerates or artifacts show up and I'm all good! So I think the takeaway here is that it's about leveraging the ground traffic! It's also dependent on your system...I thought I had a beast of a system (still do) but even FSX can still over power it.
  7. OK! So I tried all of the BufferPools on all accounts, no go! What ended up fixing it was Bert Pieke's suggestion to reduce road traffic! I dropped it from 100% to 60% and all is well now it seems. Any more than 60% and I get the flickering. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Does there happen to be a fix for this? I like seeing the busy scenery with lots of car traffic and I know my PC (for the most part lol) can handle it. PS: I keep SLI on because it helps with my multitasking when I'm editing video or photography (and flying! lol)
  8. Hey! According to my Add-on Manager, I have UsePools at - and PoolSize at 0. I also appended this to my FSX.cfg: [bUFFERPOOLS] Poolsize=0 UsePools=0
  9. Hi guys! I'm not exactly new, mostly been a lurker here and there researching lots, but by no means a new Flight-Sim'er. Big time commercial/large jet enthusiast, but no professional at all. But I seek all of you for your assistance! After lots of reading/research and trial and error, I have my FSX running beautifully, except for one minor issue. I have recorded a quick video of what I am experiencing on my YouTube. Basically, only at a couple of airports so far, I get this texture flicking nonsense and have no idea how to cure it. VID: https://youtu.be/lYbg1uro3sk (Direct Link to my youtube account) Here's my stats run-down: Version: FSX Deluxe Ed. SP2 DirectX10 P - Enabled - My PC runs FSX so much better in DX10 over DX9, so I am not really inclined to switch back. The issue isn't present to the same extent in DX10--Instead of flickering I get a huge framerate drop in DX9 in the same view position Graphics - pretty much maxed Add-ons relevant to issue: Ground Environment X FSX Modified Terrain CFG - via FlyAwaySimulation FSX2xWater - via FlyAwaySimulation FSX Ground Textures - via FlyAwaySimulation Roads v1.1 - ^same as above TreeX USA Ground Textures Upgrade - via FAS too Steve Parson's Shader Fix for DX10 Custom Built PC: Intel Core i7 4790k Devil's Canyon ASUS Maximus VII Motherboard G.Skill 16GBx4 RAM DDR3 MSI NVIDIA GTX670 4GB x2 running in SLI on latest drivers, clean install WD VelociRaptor HD 10k RPM I know the issue here is not my PC in hardware--it is a beast and like I said I have FSX nearly running perfect. But I experience this graphic issue. In the same exact camera POV in DX9, I get a huge framerate drop so something's wrong on both ends. In DX10, I get this weird anomaly. This is specifically at KEWR (Newark International Airport) and no matter where I am, at the gate or on the runway or in the region, I will get this. I also noticed it happens at Japan's Haneda International in Tokyo. Here's where it doesn't happen and all is well: I have been to KSLC Salt Lake City International, Seattle-Taco, KLAX, Heathrow, and Domodevovo in Moscow. It doesn't happen there. Can anyone help me here? I'm on my freshest install of FSX yet with all the processes clean and tweaked using that famous FSX Bible by NickN. And it still happened before all the tweaks and add-ons, and even on a previous install (that said, I tried reinstalling several times, clean and still get the issue). Any thing else for me to add please let me know. Trying to be as specific and detailed as possible since I've discovered many threads about "flickering" and Texture and graphics issues. I've sorted through them all and they all say that Steve Parson's DX10 Shader Fix is the solution. It's been added and still get it. Help! lol Thanks in advance!!!
