  1. Hi everyone. My name is Martin and I am the Community Manager for all flight simulation projects here at Dovetail Games. It is great to see so many of you already talking about DTG Flight Simulator. With so many threads popping up here in forum it is simply not possible for me to respond to everyone and keep track of everything. To this end I have created this thread where you can talk to me and ask questions about the upcoming sim. At the moment we are working hard on developing DTG Flight Simulator, and we are not ready just yet to lift the lid on the full extent of our plans. However, we are really interested in hearing your questions and what things you would like to us to show you in the build up to launch. As soon as I can start talking about DTG Flight Simulator in detail and answering your questions then I will. I am looking forward to talking to you all again soon. If you are looking for the latest news about DTG Flight Simulator then you can find the news thread here. If you would like to just have a general chat about DTG Flight Simulator then you can find the discussion thread here - Martin
  2. Hi everyone, I feel this thread is a bit tongue in cheek as some of your have mentioned. However let's clear a few things up. The DA42 in DTG Flight School does come care of our partners at Alabeo. However. it is not a release of their DA42 Twin Star v2. While the audio for the DA42 has not been taken directly from the real thing, we have taken every care to make the sounds as authentic and realistic as possible - Martin
  3. Nope that is not the one, like the other two aircraft in DTG Flight School the DA42 is a brand new model made by us. It is exclusive to DTG Flight School. - Martin
  4. Thank you all for this feedback everyone, I have collected it all up and passed it to our development team to investigate further. If you spot anything else you think we should know about please post it or get in touch with us via our support team. - Martin
  5. The DA42 update is currently scheduled for next month (June 2016). Those of you who have pre-ordered Flight School will receive this update as soon as it is available. Players who have not pre-ordered Flight School will receive this update 60 days afterwards. - Martin

  10. Hi everyone, Thank you for trying to be organised and put together a list of any unexpected problems you are having along with your feedback. We really view this as just the beginning, so if you do run into any problems or you have some suggestions about how to make it better and further optimise the sim we would love to hear them. I am going to do my best to keep track of all the forum threads, but there is a lot of you and even more treads are popping up all the time. The best way to reach us for support, bug reports or any general feedback is through our support team. That way we can work with those of you who need some support advice personally, and keep track of all the feedback. You can reach us via our website here http://dovetailgames.kayako.com/ - Martin
  11. There is a wide range of peripherals which can be used with Flight School. While we cannot guarantee everything will be compatible, we are working with various hardware companies to provide as much variety as possible. These are the systems we have tested to date and confirmed as working. We will expand this list over time: Xbox One controller, Xbox 360 controller, Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek X52, Saitek X55, Logitech Extreme 3D, MAD CATZ Cyborg Fly 5 Joystick, Mad Catz Cyborg V.1, Saitek Pro flight Yoke system (Yoke, throttle, trim wheel) You can customise your controls in the setting menu. Something to note is there are different sub menus within the control settings. These can be found under the "Event" option. One lovely player created this video guide that you might find useful - Martin
  12. Yep it sure will be SmiffyRebel22, we are using modified version of sim connect for hardware support. There is a wide range of peripherals which can be used with Flight School. While we cannot guarantee everything will be compatible, we are working with various hardware companies to provide as much variety as possible. These are the systems we have tested to date and confirmed as working: Xbox One controller, Xbox 360 controller, Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X, Saitek X52 Pro, Saitek X52, Saitek X55, Logitech Extreme 3D, MAD CATZ Cyborg Fly 5 Joystick, Mad Catz Cyborg V.1, Saitek Pro flight Yoke system (Yoke, throttle, trim wheel) - Martin It really depends on what those improvements are. In terms of optimisation or bug fixes, we will be looking to push out updates for Flight School. In terms of new features like improved weather or ATC these will not be updated as they are part of Flight Simulator. - Martin It really depends on the aircraft and the button function. We are are certainly working on building systems into the game engine which allow for that level of simulation. - Martin It is ultimately up to Steam. They need to push the magic button for us. Our current thinking is around 6pm (1800 hrs) BST. Once we have an exact time we will, of course, let you all know. - Martin We haven't focused any testing around a particular graphics card driver. Our advice is to start with whatever you are currently using and see how that goes. We haven't run into any issues using Nvidia cards so far. With the new optimisation of the core code and graphics engine hopefully this will be less of an issue. - Martin
  13. Seems you might have missed some of the details N1G. Here is quick summary of what is happen. We are releasing two new flight simulators. The first is DTG Flight School. due out tomorrow, the second is DTG Flight Simulator due out later in the year. Flight School is not Dovetail Games Flight Simulator. Flight School is a standalone experience designed to teach players the basics of flight simulation in a compelling and accessible way. DTG Flight Simulator is still in development and is planned to be a much more encompassing experience compared to the focused pilot training of Flight School. - Martin
  14. That is correct. It is our standard EULA that we use for all Dovetail Games simulators. Like all EULAs it covers all the legal requirements we need to mention, some of these will be more applicable to a given title than others. As others have pointed out, DTG Flight School will be standalone experience. It will not support existing add-ons or content created by players. That will all come in DTG Flight Simulator, which is due out later in the year. I hope that clears things up. - Martin
  15. Hi everyone, Just a quick message to let you all know that I am off on holiday for a week. Therefore, I am not going to be about on the forums for a little while. Please keep your questions coming in and I will do my best to answer them as soon as I get back. Have a great week, - Martin
  16. That is really not our call Wobbie. We are a guest here on Avsim, and as such it is up to the moderators to run the thread as they see fit. From our point of view we don't mind a bit of banter here in the thread,, but we will respect the wishes of the mods as it is their house so to speak. - Martin
  17. We’re gradually updating the global scenery data, so hopefully there will be less need to update various files upon release. We will probably look at the way add-ons can override the base data so that they don’t interfere with each other, but it may be a while before we iron out all of the wrinkles. The data formats are complex, and it may take us a few goes before we find all of the problem areas. Long story short, it is certainly an area we are looking at. - Martin
  18. That is covered in DTG Flight School, but not in great depth. - Martin
  19. DTG Flight School and DTG Flight Sim (to be released later in the year) are not backwards compatible with any existing FSX/FSX: SE add-ons. - Martin
  20. Hi everyone, just a quick thing of note. The preview versions that we sent out are just that, previews. They are not a final build of DTG Flight School. As such the file structure is currently set out for development, not release. Long story short, expect some changes in the way the sim is installed upon release compare to what you see now. - Martin
  21. I can confirm that yesterday we sent out around twenty preview copies of DTG Flight School to a selection of flight sim journalist, the press and YouTubers. - Martin
  22. I kind of covered this in the question above you sightseer. The weather, the clouds and the wider sky environment are all due to get further development in Flight Sim compared to Flight School. At the moment I can't really say much more beyond that. - Martin
  23. Both night lighting and clouds are on our development schedule for DTG Flight Sim. There will be no changes to what we have already shown for DTG Flight School. DTG Flight Sim is, however, a much bigger project and there will be additional improvements and features in that which are not found in Flight School. - Martin
  24. Thank you for the kind words. I will make sure that they get passed onto the development team. - Martin We are not currently working with any specific hardware developers. Our goal is to offer everyone a great experience regardless of their setup. This carries over to DirectX 12, that only works on Win 10. We want to support Win 7 onwards, therefore we are using DirectX 11. - Martin Our end aim is to have all of the functionality that is in FSUIPC built into the core sim. To be fair this is going to be an on going task. It makes sense to start with the core hardware developers and work our way out from there. - Martin
  25. There will be twin engine training when the free Diamond DA42 content update arrives after launch. At the moment there are no plans to further update DTG Flight School beyond this. There are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, Flight School was always designed to be a standalone experience which introduced people to flight simming, rather than a full blown flight simulator with continuing content. Secondly, we don't have the time to continue to add new aircraft to it. We are super busy developing the much big DTG Flight Sim, and certainly for the rest of the year we are full committed to that title. - Martin
