  1. Hi all, been scouring for answer for for a while this but can't seem to find anything (sorry if it's been asked): not all, but some (most notably the A320) models appear invisible in the sim, besides navigation lights. I can see that traffic exists on the AIG Traffic Controller, and even on TCAS, but when I look outside, I don't see anything besides nav lights. Any ideas?
  2. SunWest is a high-fidelity virtual airline with an affinity for attention to detail. Our staff, made up of real-world pilots and dispatchers, has spent the last eighteen months developing and testing a virtual airline experience like no other. If you have been looking to take your flight simulator to the next level, look no further! About SunWest As a virtual airline, SunWest was founded in late 2019 with the goal of emulating the operations of a low-cost FAR Part 121 airline. Utilizing the PMDG NGXu, we have built an expansive fleet and route network throughout the United States. With hubs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International (KPHX), Mc Carran International (KLAS), Los Angeles International (KLAX), and Norman Y Mineta San Jose International (KSJC), SunWest connects the southwestern United States with over 50 destinations and 500+ daily flights. Though SunWest is a fictional airline, we strive to operate as realistically as possible, and we expect the same from our pilots. That said, we don't expect everyone who signs up to be a professional pilot, or to even have real flight experience at all, we just want you to have a desire to learn and improve your skills. We offer training, procedures, and checklists to get you started, as well as a number of real-world professional pilots on the roster who are always willing to share their knowledge. Upon signing up, pilots will be assigned a basic company indoctrination course, as well as a ground school course for their aircraft. These are required to be completed before beginning flying duties, but are also designed to be taken by pilots of all skill levels in a reasonable amount of time. In other words, we are not a "jump in and fly" virtual airline. Our Fleet With a history dating back to 1985, SunWest has grown from a handful of piston twins to over one hundred Boeing 737s. Much like a real-world low-cost airline, SunWest has snapped up many different varieties of the B737NG, which means you'll find small intricacies in every single one of our 100 aircraft. Our Procedures Using a small army of real-world aviation professionals, including a handful of ATPLs, SunWest has developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) as close to the real thing as we could get. You'll find everything outlined with incredible detail in our 100-page Boeing 737 Flight Manual. If you're new and feeling slightly intimidated by all that, that's fine too! Our training department and Discord are available at all times to help you grow as a virtual aviator. Our Dispatch System Our dispatch system is based around a highly-modified wrapper for SimBrief. This means, you get the benefits of fuel and route planning through SimBrief, with the ability to add in our own custom functionality. You will find things like MEL items and aircraft turn schedules on your OFP, specific to our airline. While SimBrief is free to use, it is highly recommended to pair it with a Navigraph subscription. Our Rank System The rank structure of SunWest is different than most virtual airlines as well. While most other VAs offer some sort of tiered ranking system, SunWest has only two: first officer and captain. Much like a real-world airline, you do not transfer in with any hours, and in almost all cases, you start as a first officer. Your rank and seniority also affect the monthly bidding process, and you will be competing with other pilots for lines. Our Growth Model Because SunWest is a fictional airline, we are not restricted to growing (or shrinking) based on a real-world counterpart. That said, every step the airline takes is carefully planned around our simulated financial model, with real-world examples to back them up. Though we don't claim to be like any particular real-world airline, we have borrowed bits an pieces from plenty of them. The SunWest website, crew portal, dispatch system, ACARS client, and everything else is under constant improvement. We are always looking for ways to do things even slightly more realistically, and will likely never stop. We understand that this type of virtual airline environment is not for everyone, and we don't want to be for everyone. We want to be for the type of flight simmer who values the same thing as us: realism, accuracy, and attention-to-detail. And Much More... Hopefully by this point, you have a good idea of what type of virtual airline we are! While we've highlighted a few key features about our operations, there are far too many to list, so we encourage interested pilots to visit our website, dig around, and make sure SunWest is for you! https://sunwest.aero
  3. Finished my 2080 TI build in late July (stupid of me, I know). Card has been RMA'd twice since then, meaning I haven't been able to use it all. Now, they're trying to send me a new one since they can't fix the original, but can't find any stock. It is simultaneously the best and worst of times for me.
  4. Good luck man. Hope you're right and it is only a few weeks for your sake, but there tends to be a rush on these cards when they're released (especially on the 30xx series since it's such a generational improvement). Might be a bit longer given current supply chain issues, but no matter what, I think it'll be worth the wait.
  5. 2080 Ti and 3080 will have similar memory capacities, but the 3080 will have much faster (nearly 50% faster) memory output speeds

  7. The FE cards with the 12-pin are almost certainly going to include an adapter from 8-pins. I have to wonder about sag, though. That thing looks huge! I sure will be tempted to pick one up.
  8. Hello, After using pretty modest systems for the last couple of decades, I decided to do something I've never done and upgrade to a high-end gaming machine. The performance in P3Dv5 doesn't feel much different from my old system, however, so I'm wondering what I should do boost my FPS/performance. Right now I'm getting around 25-30 FPS at Orbx airports. Specs: Are my settings just too ambitious? I was thinking this system would be able to handle anything I threw at it, so I'm interested to know what I'm doing wrong, or if 25-30 FPS is the best I can hope for at demanding add-on airports.
  9. Heres hoping! Was so excited to fly the NGXu until I realized I won't have my virtual copilot to boss around 😞
  10. I'm not sure, I just feel like the whole purpose of the Honeycomb project was to deliver quality flight controls at an affordable price. In my opinion, $999 for just a throttle setup (albeit a nice one) is not affordable for the average simmer, myself included.
  11. I know it's a long shot, but hoping for some sort of regional jet. An E170/175 would be amazing.
  12. Los Angeles, CA - Pacific Logistics has unveiled a new corporate livery on it's latest 747-400, N635PX. The new livery updates PacLog's previous all-blue scheme with a darker shade of blue covering the tail section, as well as a gray vertical stripe. PacLog's iconic wave logo still remains on the tail. "This livery might just seem like a cosmetic change," said CEO Andrew De Forest. "But it represents or dedication to staying modern and fresh." Officials have said that all but one of the company's current aircraft will be repainted in this scheme, the exception being N634PX, which currently wears an all-white scheme. We are currently hiring first officers and direct-entry captains for both our B747-400F and B777-200LRF fleet. Applicants desiring a direct-entry captain position must have previous verifiable type time. We currently support the PMDG 777-200LRF as well as the PMDG 747-400F (v2 and v3). Please visit https://flypaclog.com/careers to see a list of available openings. What We Offer - Seniority-based bidding Modern and sleek custom ACARS program Compatibility with major flight sim add-ons Realistic and extensive route network Custom documents such as checklists and SOPs Please feel free to take a look around our website and contact us with any questions you might have. Regards, Andrew De Forest adeforest@flypaclog.com https://www.flypaclog.com
  13. Sad there's no button control. Bought it without even checking (my mistake!). Hope to see button control in the future.
  14. Also FSUIPC has an option to simultaneously hold your middle mouse button down and enter pan view which is really handy (not sure if it's available in the unregistered version though).
  15. It's good, but my only gripe is the dated liveries/schedules. I get that development was focused on changing the way AI is injected, and they did a great job with that, but sometimes I'll be sitting at a busy airport and feel like I'm back in 2008. Also, I wish there was more cargo options out of the box.
  16. I've done that too, it's a lot of fun. On a side note, I'm in Ocean Beach. I get the same thing, but on the departure end of the runway :)
  17. I think his post might have been sarcastic
  18. I found that very odd too, and I'm still trying to figure out why.
  19. Hello all, I replaced my Thrustmaster T-flight HOTAS with a CH Products Eclipse Yoke and Logitech PRO Flight Throttle Quadrant. Before, when taxiing with the Thrustmaster throttle, I had to push the throttles up at around 29-30% N1 to get a 15-20kt steady taxi speed. Now, with the Logitech throttle, I need to keep the throttle almost at idle (between 21-23% N1) to taxi, which seems more realistic, but when even at those low settings taxi speed can quickly get up to around 30 kts if I stop paying attention for a few seconds. Can someone with a similar throttle setup explain their taxi technique to me? I feel like I'm riding the brakes too hard to maintain a steady taxi speed, and my throttle setting is either too high or too low. Thanks
  20. Hello, I recently bought and installed a CH Products Eclipse Yoke and a Logitech G Saitek PRO Flight Throttle Quadrant. I disabled the throttle/prop/mixture controls on the yoke so I could use the ones on the Saitek. Ever since installing this new hardware, whenever I call for engine start in the NGX using FS2Crew, the engine start procedure begins and the copilot immediately calls out "starter cut-out", instead of waiting for the starter to actually cut-out. I'm trying to figure out why this happens, and what hardware change could possibly be prompting it. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
  21. Toggle the traffic off by hitting CTRL+SHIFT+T, park at the gate you want, and optionally toggle the traffic back on by hitting CTRL+SHIFT+T again
