Fuel temperature, can we start with warmer fuel?
Apparently US jet fuel freezes at -37C whilst European jet fuel freezes at around -46C and Japanese fuel freezes at -50C so suggest you fill up at Narita !!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Question about trim on final? 777
I am unable to adjust trim at all and use the Logitech G940 rudder, stIck and throttle system. When I apply an input I can see the trim button on the aircraft control column actually moving but nothing happens in response and it is impossible to adjust the overall trim status. Do I need to instal FSUIPC as mentioned earlier in this thread? Steve D London UK

Virtual cockpit - complete loss of any input to any switch
Thank you, will check that if it happens again but don't think that was the cause as it was the same on both seats despite trying lots of positions. Steve D London UK

Virtual cockpit - complete loss of any input to any switch
Has anyone else had this issue - on a flight from KLAX to OMDB and just turning onto runway for departure when suddenly all the input to any control is lost. By that I mean that all mouse input to any button or switch is no longer available. Very frustrating as had to completely abort the flight! Any thoughts appreciated... I am using Track IR and have Logitech G940 Rudders, throttle and stick. Also finding trimming pretty impossible! Otherwise love it with frame rates above 30fps using FlyTampa Dubai!!! Is it worth $90?
At this price it is bargain given the hours of pleasure it will offer. I have bought two copies so that my 12yr old son can practice as he is determined to fly the real thing in around 10 years time. Can't put a price on that. Steve D London UK

Launch day quick install !
A slightly slow order process which I fully expected on launch day. But soon after downloading the 778mb file (1mb too many of course!) in under 5 mins I had installed everything including 9 liveries and within just 30 mins of sitting down and starting the purchase - WOW! Aircraft is a masterpiece - to anyone having difficulties right now just be patient - it is so worth it. Just enough time for a trip around KLAX before bed. Will be buying a second copy for my son tomorrow! Thank you Robert & PMDG team. Steve D London UK

Got it, love it, be patient with server on launch day!

4818nm flight in a standard 737-800
Yes I flew with no pax, no payload and took extra care with all possible economies along the way. On average had around 80kt tailwind too. Just shows how far you can push it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

4818nm flight in a standard 737-800
Just to see what range my NGX could achieve I set off from Newark to London Gatwick and picked up a nice tailwind, courtesy of REX. After reviewing the fuel burn and estimates I then kept extending the destination and finally landed in Larnaca, Cyprus, some 4818nm later. Does anyone know is this is possible in reality? By the way, I speeded up the sim to 4x sim rate although I don't think this messed up the accuracy of the fuel management. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is there a release date?
I agree with Ricky, NGX is so epic that I am not too fussed whether 777x is released now or in a few months time. I would rather PMDG fine tuned any new additions, performance factors and other detail so that I (and my son!) can enjoy it as much as NGX!

Beta testining candidate?
United are also very good with kids and invited my son onto the flight deck without us even asking. Only a quick visit and then presented with a plastic "pilots wings" badge - nice touch! But surely the rules do not apply on the ground with engines off at the gate and where the captain is in attendance. If this is an issue then I would have thought United would be aware and not proactively invite children onto the flight deck per-flight?

Beta testining candidate?
And United are also very friendly, invited my son into the flight deck for a quick visit recently at Las Vegas on boarding - we didn't even have to ask!

Beta testining candidate?
Sounds awesome - maybe this will sell some more tickets on Canadian flights!
-
Beta testining candidate?
Yes couldn't agree more - all we asked was for a quick visit after landing at LAX and were in there for a while! Thank you ANZ.

Beta testining candidate?
Captain Robert, my soon pictured on the attached is at the controls of the Air New Zealand All-blacks ZK-OKQ so does this qualify him for Beta testing, assuming this is still on your "to do" list!!! And on a slightly more serious note will licensing allow me to install 777x on more than one PC that I own as he also can't wait to get his hands on your latest masterpiece when it releases? Thanks!

Don't Panic! (This is a planned outage...)
Yes I read that too so am also hoping for a nice surprise soon!

NGX (and FSX) has never been better
FSSimtimizer looks interesting and worth testing out. Where can you download from and are there any setup instructions? From what I could see this was possibly for Multi monitor setups so is it something that would also benefit a single monitor system? Thanks.

Can we pilot a real 737 if we can
I have been surprised at what I have been reading here... Many are almost saying that PC flight sims are a waste of time and have no bearing on the real world and that they are inaccurate. Most simmers even with limited aircraft type knowledge could probably find a way of landing in an emergency. Most could easily contact ATC and follow simple vectors fly using basic auto pilot inputs initially before taking control at a point early enough to get a basic feel during an approach. Assuming the right airspeed, flap settings (stall speeds normally shown on airspeed strip on primary display), attitude and altitude most would also have the sense as to land or go around. I think the biggest barrier to overcome for most is simply confidence. Most modern airliners have control surfaces that work irrespective of the FMC - all you need to understand is what is going on around you! The recent advances in PC flight sim, especially those from PMDG, have put many simmers in a totally new level of understanding and competency!!!

Can we pilot a real 737 if we can
All the real 747 pilots that I know have told me that a proper full flight sim (the ones on hydraulic rams that rattle, shake and throw you around) does have quite a realistic feel in terms of interacting with all the control surfaces. Also it has been said that if anything these machines are slightly over-sensitive and that handling the actual aircraft is very slightly easier and if anything a tiny bit more forgiving. So if you can get an hour on one of these, and can handle that, and land in challenging situations, then you can probably handle the real thing!

Can we pilot a real 737 if we can
Yes as someone who spends 000's of hours in the real aircraft he was pretty amazed at the complexity and realism. He doesn't use flight sim himself these days though as I think he spends too much time on the real thing - I will tempt him back with the new pmdg 748 maybe!

Can we pilot a real 737 if we can
I am surprised that so many people are so sceptical here - I can only look at my experience flying a full flight 747-200 sim around 8 yrs back. At the time I only had flight sim experience (since the beginning!) and some tips from my brother (who does fly 747s for real). It was incredibly easy but only once I got the feel for it, how to trim properly and how to judge the right level of control input and smoothly enough. Apart from that and it bring a lot more physical than I expected it was simple stuff. I had another go a year later and was challenged by engine failures on take-off, 30 knot crosswind landings and of course the good old Kai Tak approach at HK, all without a hitch. So going back to the beginning of this, taking into account the immense and brilliant realism with PMDG, I think landing one of these in the real world would be quite easy - forget any auto lands!!!
