  1. FSW is the only simulator I fly on my desktop. Therefore any bug fixes or updates are always a bonus to me. I know it will cost us all a lot of money to get add ons to bring it up to whatever our personal standards are once the ball starts rolling but so does every hobby. Some of my multitude of MSFS purchases are years old so it doesn't average out to much in the long run. With FSW 64 bit grabbed me as did it being free for Flight School users. So I offloaded my very seldom used FSX. That reminds me I still have not passed my LAPL test. Must stop flying around the scenery and do the serious stuff
  2. Well I think FS-Global is almost indispensjble and was concerned about how my 2010 version would cope with a major FSW update if I chose to do what you did. That is why I went for the safer $60 2018 FSW compatible version. How did you get on with KLAS McCarran Intl? Is your airport on a plateau? The AFM 2.0 I got out of them does not seem so easy to use as the FSX version.
  3. I do not think any major update will affect your FSW compatible products as you can simply run setup again. The tweaks and personal settings would probably all go. Best to make regular backups of your AddOn directory and cfg files if you are into tweaking.
  4. I got mine from the Flightsim store and it did say FSW compatible. It is the FS-Global 2018 FTX compatible version not the ultimate (80 gb download was too much of a download to contemplate). When you unpack it and run install you get a drop down menu and the FSW selection is right there. The only problem I had was that although it installed terrain files to the correct steam directory it modified the scenery config under C:\ProgramFiles\FSW and that is not where I have my FSW program Installation. Not sure if I missed something there or if that is a default. No biggie I just renamed my scenery.cfg in my true FSW directory and copied the updated one across. It was a bit strange in that it recognised and kept the extra entries in scenery.cfg for my added on areas and inserted the FS-Global entries from Area 99-106. You would have thought if it "read" my scenery.cfg it would have known where it was and updated it there instead of plonking it under C:|ProgramFiles\FSW. Also I received an email this morning from FSPilotshop.com your might be interested in. I checked out the website and noticed this https://www.fspilotshop.com/drzewiecki-design-new-york-city-p-5891.html I bought that a week or so ago for the original price and now it is 30% cheaper at $25.20. It is FSW compatible and installs into the correct AddOn scenery directory. No need to mess with scenery.cfg at all.
  5. Mitch I just looked at my FS-Global install bearing in mind that mine was the FS-Global 2018 FSW compatible version. Those layers were installed from Area 99 through to 106. I do not know if my new version is any great improvement over 2010 but as to me FSW s a stayer it was worth paying the $60 for the new version IMHO.
  6. I got mine for nothing as I had their Flight School I have upgraded my FS-Global 2018 to FS-Global 2018 FSW compatible and bought Dzrewiecki's FSW compatible NYC as well. Let me see ..... that cost about $108 AUD ...... More expense to follow I would imagine.
  7. Paul, thank you for responding to my question about VR and the future. I think I am a bit too set in my ways to get into that now but do appreciate your explanation.
  8. Pracines, did your VR experience blow ALL your other sims away? Is that the future of FS do you think?
  9. You guys are right. This thread is going nowhere but it is interesting to see how passionate people are about their sims.
  10. I notice that absolutely no one has mentioned Aerofly FS 2 and their 240+ FPS sim that is also in early access. They DO have an SDK and it enables users to create their own scenery.
  11. Wow Sesquashtoo, those screenies are amazing. Sorry if I misled you about those other scenery.cfg files. I tried doing Orbx transfers and install but gave up. Now use the quick and dirty add on scenery route for photo real that does not require scenery.cfg changes. Your screenies make me wonder though......
  12. Very good review. Hopefully it will be watched by many fence sitters and encorage them to come onboard.
  13. There is another cfg file in hidden AppData or SteamAppData directory. I think they have to match. If you highlight your root directory through explorer and search for scenery.cfg you should be able to find and edit. You can also type %Appdata% into the Cortana search field.
  14. Ok thants for that, I was thinking XPOI landmarks.
  15. So what does the PointOfInterestSystem setting do?

    IPACS Hacked

That is a relief. For a sec I thought it was North Korea taking down our fighter planes.

    IPACS Hacked

Looks like back to normal this morning. The hack or glitch or whatever it was has been fixed. Back to a respectable 7 new posts all in English.
  18. It looks to me like the IPAC forums may have been hacked. I just found 826 Chinese messages on there.
  19. Those of you who own an Aerofly Fs version be aware that IPAC forums have just been hacked. I just went to check on the latest posts and founf 826 new messages in Chinese! Hope they fix that soon.
  20. I think maybe a super detailled scenery like that Seattle one Dzrewiecki are working on.
  21. SNOW! Shivering in the cockpit ........... Bring on heat haze and shimmering mirages and good old Aussie desert flying.
  22. Photo real sceneries can be installed easily into add on scenery too. Just make a copy of FSW.exe and name it FSX.exe. Then run your install program and point to the FSW/add on scenery directory. I have over a dozen of those. Default FSW/Orbx scenery is nice but accurate for my home town it wasnt.
  23. That would have been one of my better landings Brave to try it in those conditions too. Thanks for sharing.

    Parked planes

Probably a silly question but is there any way of finding out which GA airports have parked GA aircraft on them?

    Observations

Thanks guys. I assume I can use similar scenery.cfg path statements with my FS Global 2010 then.
